What do you think of Altona North's chances in the Senior Division and the Senior North 2nds competitions this year?:)

both xi's had a bad start to their seasons but if they can pull it all together now, then they're as good a chance as anyone else.

they must be missing the sheer pace and firepower of a player like mick megne

Looks like there going to struggle this year ,i hear theyve lost a lot of players and without the services of one Mick Megne to unleash his guns they are very short of firepower.

Is that the same Troy Lamb who was suspended for the Grand Final last year for threatening a fifteen year old kid and calling him a cheat??
Is that the same Troy Lamb that then refused to apologise even though his teammates implored him to??
Is that the same Troy Lamb that then sat on the hill and abused the same kids mother (and three other mums) during the Grand Final but then left when a few men came over??

Is that the same Jono Weinstock that consistently sledged a bloke about his son being disabled during the Grand Final??

If so, I agree, nice blokes.....

They are both very good cricketers however. Thats positive! :)

Keep living in fantasy land Laurie!

They're alright, at least they stick around for a beer after the game.

You can make comment on how good a toss it was to win about any games...god only knows they have in india....end of the day it's what the toss is for.50/50.
The Hampton deck isn't at it's best but there were a lot of ambitious shots from what i saw plus the size of the ground makes it harder to score runs on a dodgy pitch. If we had flat decks everywhere wouldn't that make for boring cricket.

Agree with you. The game is made for batsmen as it is. Never seen anything wrong with the odd dodgy deck.:p Make the likes of Bakes and co work a little for their runs.

i agree - although when the game is decided by the toss thats not great cricket. Lets be honest - it looks like Sth Caulf and Hampton have won due to the toss, not because they are better cricket teams necessarily.

Didnt both sides have to bat on the same wicket on the same day though?

No. They actually cut a new deck for the other team. New rule brought in by the South. North bat on the unprepared wicket; South bat on the rolled on.

The VTCA thinks that's a chance of evening the comp up.

Actually, if Douttas had of held a catch & 6/40, would probably have still won on 1st innings.

Do you honestly believe that???

Airport West have a star studded line up & last years premier, Doutta Stars, were playing relegation favourites who were beaten outright the previous week.

yeah they did, and they both lost 7 wickets.... however, im sure rossy you know what its like batting 2nd after 30-40 overs in a day gives the wicket time dry out..

yes. south caulfield & hampton looked like they handled their "minefields" better than airport west st christophers & doutta stars did it seems...

do these 2 "top" teams have something to worry about yet??

Fair point. I just think sometimes too much emphasis is put on the wickets prep. And at the end of the day, a captain is a 50/50 to win the toss and bowl, unless you end up with a toss winning % like i had over 2 years, about 15%. Having said that, there really should be no reason why a wicket is under-prepared with the weather we have had lately. Unless it is prepared by a council. Thought i better put that last bit in after last years granny:D

And if you believe that you must still believe in the tooth fairy and sleep with the light on. If Doutta expect to bat first on roads every week they are in fairy land.

Also why is it that your club (Doutta) never put their scores up when they lose?
