I see in the results that Spotty won the toss and put YCC in to bat??? It must have been a wet deck...so how come YCC ends with such a huge score and only 3 down??? Did anyone see the match??? How much was the deck doing especially with ex Uni bowler Robertson opening...Maybe like the pitches down South, it dried out a bit after tea.

Another great day for Maccabi AJAX against last years Grand Finalists. They thought game over when they got Jonothan Weinstock and Troy Lamb out in the same over but they did not know how good our batting line up really is. Jonty Rosenthal was supurb in a return to form and such a good number 3. Daniel Onas was again supurb, he is the best batting all rounder in the competition. Our middle order has so much talent and were supurb. Big score on a slow ground, Strathmore will have to bat very very well against our strong attack to win this game. We will be 2 wins and 1 loss.

Laurie do me a favour and keep it in your pants champ. Sounds like you are stroking it as you write these posts and its freaking me out.

To make the granny in senior div a minimum of four paid players. Of course if you want to win it you would need six. Each season the bar is being raised. However dodgy council prepared wickets for granny's is proving quite expensive for some. 50,000 dollars down the toilet for the looser.Still, "FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE" There's always next season if the cash cow keeps providing.

Well Dingo my friend, the season has started and from the results we can see that it will be a pretty even season as it always is. Unfortunately there is no doubt that East Keilor and Footscray United are in for very very long seasons. I'm still on the Abers band wagon mate, that's the North B band wagon, their loss on the weekend and then chasing the pill to all parts of the ground can smash a side for the rest of the year. Seddon or Parkville will fill the other spot in the bottom 4 which is the danger zone so we are being told. The top 4 is wide open as it always is in North A, but after a one dayer and one 2 day game it's still very open. At this stage I would think that the four could shape up along the lines of Keilor Park, Greenvale, St Albans and A/Heights or W'Meadows. If David Z from Tulla keeps making tons of runs and takes 4 or 5 wickets a game he might get them there on his own! History shows that a North A finals spot is still up for grabs in the last round of every season and I think 2 years ago you could have made the finals from 8th, which is unbelieveable. I'm pretty set on the predictions above and I think the rest will fight out the minors. Avondale have been the surprise packet and have plenty of experience and have played finals I think 3 out of the last 4 years so they are in a good position having 2/2.

So early in the season too. I agree with your comments that the comp is pretty even and for that reason you would'nt lay any money as to the make up of the final four. Cause as we all know "cricket is a funny game." The way I see it the top 7 will be from Keilor Park, Greenvale, St. Albans, Avondale, West Meadows, Footscray United and Tullamarine. Not nescessarily in that order. Footscray have improved there batting by one and there bowling by two and if the 3 young cockerals they have just introduced start to fire they would be a 300 plus side on there small and very fast ground. At the moment they must be sitting back there wondering why they are zero from two. Avondale are 4/71 chasing 145 V's Abers, that game is in the balance. Westmeadows made 300 plus V East Keilor who replied with a little over 200 which may mean Westmeadows bowling may be a little suss. Given that most are of the opinion that East Keilor will be easy beats this season. Perhaps after round four or six we will have a better idea. The dark horse could be Footscray United as they ostensibly have three easy games after xmas. Don't be surprised if they come home with a rush. Having said that, what are your predictions for senior "A"?

I personally don't like censorship of any kind as I believe in free speach. However we should have regard for others feelings. Good to see 2 of my Southern friends, Hampton & South Caulfield, serving up terrible wickets to those 2 Northern cheats, Doutta Stars & Airport West, winning the toss & getting the job done on day 1.


Old man Russell would have enjoyed his 12th Long Neck watching that at South Caulfield & my dear friend Big Bill Petwress would have loved the Hammers cheating their way to a win against Doutta.

VTCA rules once again in the South where it belongs.

This isn't really the place for this. If you're unhappy about the moderation then make a thread in the customer service area or pm the mod/admin. Work with us, not against us and help us to provide you with the forum that you'd like to be a part of.

However, I will add this as a final word (at least in this section of the site), the mods/admins here do the job for free and scant reward, yet they do on times have to put up with a lot of crap. We could let this place turn into a free for all, but trust me, it would fun for about 5 minutes and then it would turn into a mess, with spam, random posts, insults, porn and god knows what else posted.

You have free speech on here (well, as much as you have in the 'real world'), we just ask that you use it constructively and try to refrain from abusing other members and swearing. Not that hard is it? Anders wanted a crack at being skipper in the 2's. Doing a great job so far. Got a few runs too. He has a bung shoulder, so keeping is out of the question. He keeps telling me how good his left arm pies are going though!!

A win to SCCC and Hampton, at least some exciting cricket comes from those under-prepared tracks. Game winning performance from Ash Russell. A double century to Baker has taken him to another level, but only 10 overs from Spotty's gun recruit.

All looks evenly poised in Senior A. Willy really looking the goods though.

Laurie, don't get too excited just yet.

Southern sledge, keep it positive, you're an embarrassment to the southern clubs.

A double century to baker. What a gun. How good is this guy. He must have better than 20/20 vision, which is the most we mere mortals can expect. Come on Bakes what aggregate are you aiming for this season? 700 plus. Average? and how many tons and to really test you who will you make tons against? Give us some advance warning so a man can pull a hammy before the game.

What do posters on here think about the Premier cricket having no covers for the rest of the season.In my opinion they cause more trouble than what their worth.If all clubs used them properly it would be better but it will never happen.

Lose 6 premiership points. It's the only way to shake up some of the recalcitrants. Holes in the covers, wind blowing water under the covers does'nt cut it any more.

Ping one club and watch all the others fall into line. Especially those clubs that pay more than two pro's.

Damn straight i am spruiking my club!! This discussion started around how many $ chasing players swap from club to club. I simply stated facts about paid players at our club. Then you go and bring up the old grand final wicket chest nut.

As far as having a private paid curator, what cost this would add to runnning a club? If every club that played in the vtca was told they MUST have a paid curator, where do you think the $'s are going to come from? We feel lucky that the council do our wicket! I am sure if you ask all that have played at our ground over the years, there would not be too many that do not look forward to batting on our decks!! Not to mention our arvo teas! As for us "seeking to host THE gf", like all clubs, we put in that we would make our grounds available to play on. It is then purely an Exec decision on where each gf is played. The fact that our ground was selected surely tells you that it IS generally, over the year, one of the better wickets to play on. Why else would the exec choose to play it there?

I am the first to admit that the wicket was not at its best, but you are beating a dead horse my friend. As part of the commitee last year, we did in fact write a letter to the council expressing our concerns.

You can quote from whoever you like (not sure who Nikolai Gogol is), but all i have to quote is "go and bounce ya balls somewhere else".
