He even bowled and took a catch with it on also i believe.

Great to see a bit of FUN at the cricket for a change.

Well done to Altona Nth & ANA for making the final with Altona coming away with the $$$$$$$$$$$$.
These 2 teams are also playing off in the 20/20 on Wed

He bowled with it and got a run out with it for the record. Was amazingly funny to hear walking up from the club rooms playing away some tune. Highlight would have to be the death march went one of us went out or the numerous anthems and themes he knows. Ripper bloke too.

It's been a good last few days for the Northerners, 6 AN players played in the winning 7's team and today won the 'Best in the West' T20 comp.

That Trent Lawford (I think) bloke can hit a massive ball, I'm not surprised they won the T20 final.

Any news on why ana vs altona sports in the one day grade was abandoned?

''STILL A MYSTERY''

ANA 9/284 v Altona sports 5/152 off 23overs

Both picked up 4 points for the draw in a one day game?????

Really hoping nothing untoward here. One side staying on top by 2 points and other side remaining in the 4 by 4 points?

Got to be some extraordinary explanation!!!!!!

Nothing untoward, game had a official umpire, umpire called it off as was threatend by Altona Sports player/fan. Im not sure what the actual details were as l wasnt at the game. The Umpire awarded the points to ANA, though im not sure if a umpire can award the points, and my cricket has each team getting 4 points? It has a baring where teams finish so im not sure what the outcome will be.

Really sad when you have an official umpire and he feels the need to call the game off!!!
This is why people do not want to do it.
Should be privileged to actually get an umpire to take the heat off players doing the job.

Been a bit of trouble in earlier games with some of the Altona Sports 1 day players, and maybe something should have been done sooner to stop behavior of a couple of bad eggs.

No doubt an 'official report' to follow for this game!!!
Few sweaty palms i think leading to finals.

Yes umpire can award points but ultimately up to exec. to make decision barring appeals etc..

yeah Burnside have been throwing all their matches previously....

Melton south 2 194 def burnside 187 Now there is a Surprise I guess burnside must have laid down so they play. Melton centrals a bit scared of facing Melton South 1. Thanks for staying back for a beer you sooky sooky la las:D

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association 09/10

Just wanted to say thanks to the Centrals 1s players for yesterdays game - it was played in the true spirit of cricket - hard but fair.

Its a shame that the umpire who threatened to give one of our players out handled ball doesnt know what the spirit is (the bat had played a defensive shot, there was no run being taken, so a dead ball, so the bat picked the ball up and lobbed it back to the bowler to save him the effort - no appeal was made and the bowler thanked the bat but the umpire deemed it worthy to march in from square leg and threaten to give the batsman out!!! - pathetic).

It was also a shame that there were a couple of Souths players on the sideline who decided to hurl abuse at players, especially the Burnside captain when he got out. Was there any need? no. Did it show the Melton Souths true colours - not really - but it showed how low those 2 players really are. It put a real sour note on a game that was played in the true spirit with no abuse on the field or off it from either side - just good hard barracking and good hard cricket. To come off the pitch and be sworn at and have personal abuse by "people" who have nothing to do with either side is poor but I expected nothing else from those 2.

Well done Centrals, and I hope that you win the flag - you try and play the way that cricket should be played - to your strengths and not by trying to bring the opposition down.

I'm just gonna reply to a couple of issues you have there 1. are sure the umpire was not just reminding the batsmen that if someone appealed he would have to give him out handled the ball as it is in the rules but not used much. Thus actually helping the batsmen which the umpire is in his right to do  and 2. are you sure they were South players as most of us went down to the gray to watch our 3s beat your 2s in the B grade semi final. Also if it was only a bit of sledging i suppose its not like being shirt fronted by the oposition captain or anything (i'm pretty sure YOU know all about that one hey). :D Anyway you need to toughen up a bit beacuse they are gonna give you plenty of stick when you go ino the NWCA next season. SO SUCK IT UP PRINCESS:p

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association 09/10

I always thought a bit of a sledge and abuse has been apart of cricket forever?? It's like footy if you dont wanna be hit hard dont play the game? same goes for cricket, if you dont like being called a dwarf or fat dont play the game?? or get sucked in?? or just ignore it and make some runs. As for plenty of stick in the NWCA burnside should get away with it because in the grades they should be playing people just play it to pass some time on a saturday. Good luck next season chokers

to watch our 3s beat your 2s SO SUCK IT UP PRINCESS: & Good luck next season chokers!!!!

These are some quality quotes coming out of Meltdown Sth 3 days before you get your little blue butts wopped in a G.F. We all know there are NO big game players up there so be very careful with quotes that may come back to haunt you.
As for 'Suck it up Princess', the tears almost flowed from your love interest Pickets, at the Gray when umpires called game on, l.b.w, too wet to go back on,
run ups a bit dangerous after other team just bowled, rather than getting on trying to win the game, he was pre-occupied trying to stall or whatever. Could have so easily lost if 1 player hadn't swung from the ar*e.

Anyway next year might be your year as i believe you people are joining the Willy comp.
If you have NO Turf wicket as i think is the case, the best grade you can hope for maybe 'A' Matts which would suit you the way you all bat(slog).
Guess what, this grade represents other teams 3 sides as they have their 1st & 2nds on Turf.
Unsure as to any benifit here but maybe a chance to atone for all the disapointment you have encounted in the W.S.U.C.C.A.

As you quoted Good luck next season chokers!!!!

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association 09/10

NEED FOR SPEED;391818 As you quoted Good luck next season chokers!!!![/QUOTE said:
I didnt say anything about chokers that was the bloke after me:confused: As for delaying or whatever I think the association rules suck a bit,Axe was a bit dissapointed that most comps play ordinary conditions when time is lost as with the weekends games but to bat 19 overs as a 2 day game then get told you only have 25 overs remaining then you need to change to oneday cricket nearly half way through the innings when the side batting second knows this from the start of their innings. i think they should change it to if you start and get 15 overs or more then ordinary conditions but if you dont start on time then devide the overs in 2 so both teams have the same conditions from the start. Axes side would have been dissadvantaged if they started on time and no reward for being higher on the ladder. so i could see why he wasnt in a hurry to start after more rain before the start of the 2nd days play, then ordinary condictions came into it and i bet you and many others would do the same. As for the LBW i didnt hear him complain about his he was just dissapointed he didnt play his natural game. The other LBWs well 2 later ones were doubtful but thats cricket. its better to have netural umpires than having players doing it. Anyway should be 2 good grand finals Melton Centrals Vs Melton South A and B grades hopefully they both are played in Melton and good luck to all teams playing this weekend. And yes we have had some dissapointment in the WSUCCA G/F loses but so have a lot of other clubs and some who never seem to get there and we have had a lot of highs as well 4 premierships so cant complain when you are beaten by a better side on the day. :D As for the Willi Comp we sure will be if we get excepted.

While we at it I havent heard much about your achievements or your clubs for that, maybe you are one of those sides that seem to miss out most of the time, or one of those players there to make up the numbers, so before bagging us have a look at yourself first you may be supprised:DLMAO At least in all the years we have been in the WSUCCA there was only 1 year we didnt have a side in a grand final, (Knocked out in the semi) so to get 4 premierships and 6 runners up and numerous other awards in the association I think we've done alright. WHAT ABOUT YOU? OR IS IT TOO EMBARRASING TO MENTION?:p

Get of it!!! I cant believe ur boasting.

1. U stayed out of turf for how many years?
2. All your sides were playing a grade down, please mate! Mate its hard not to have success.
3. All of a sudden ur club saved the comp but cried when we (Roosters) had 2 turf teams come on champ where do u get of.

im not boasting just replying to need for speeds comment on our club, and im proud of what we have achieved in the short time our club has been going from 2 teams at the start to now. As for turf we stayed out because some players didnt want play sundays and didnt believe we had achieved any success losing 2 A grade grand finals. I dont know about us saving the comp but we wanted to put another side in so not to lose the new players we got after the start of the season and WSUCCA didnt want us to go into the one day comp it would have caused a bye then rockbank pulled out which gave us an alernative. I dont know if we cried when roosters had 2 teams in turf becasue we werent playing turf so dont think it would have affected us and good on you for having 2 teams then ,now they gained turf experience for your move to VTCA. As for success its on the field we play for but clubs achieve lot of success off the field as well look at your success for instance maybe not as in premierships but the movement forward by your club to VTCA, your own turf ground so both teams can play as individual sides in different grades, new clubrooms so there is a lot of success there achieved by your club and committee and you should be commended for that. For us we have been trying to get a turf wicket but seem to hit a brick wall each time. But thats councils for you. Anyway good luck to your club in the future Im sure you will do very well. Cheers

Fair enough mate ill stay out of your melton based squabble.
Best of luck on the field and on your new change of direction were ever that may take you.
The rest of the comp is still dirty on you blokes not playing turf and letting the comp down u know that surely. It looks like a selfish decision and you got success in a contrived fashion not thru earning it playing the same level as almost all the other clubs in the comp surely that part is obvious for all to see. As for us FORTUNE FAVOURS THE BRAVE!!!
