i have heard from a good source at roosters that they are going to the VTCA because they think they won't be up to the B-turf top sides standards in WDCA

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

Lucky & Warneys back dont go spreading rumours with out substance.

Roosters not up to b turf standard come on mate r u 4 real. I think we would give 70 % of teams a run for there money.

Willy & Churches should merge but Claude wouldnt allow it im sure gooky would except it he has vision. Claude still stuck with his tradition.Churches carnivals and all No1 priority.
Time will reveal all do we stay or do we go?

G'day BigCoq. What a win by those mighty Bulldogs last night.

I think your Spot on the Money regarding merger of churches and Willy Comp. I think Claude would definately be against it and Gooky would say yes but you would have to twist his arm a fair bit. I think he would still want to be the main man running the comp though. This would make cricket in the West very strong. It could also possibly attract clubs from VTCA.

Would love to know from some of the Willy Comp guys out there what they think about a merger. Do you think 1 Strong Western suburbs Comp would be good for Cricket or is the current setup ok?

Word on the street Billy is that Moonee Valley comp to merge with North West comp thus pushing some sides further north. Some clubs are already exploring the possibility of comeing back to the west if the 2 Strong western comps merged then some sides would come back for sure.
its all up to Claude & that bloody carnival that all clubs pay for but dont partake in hmmmmmmm.
Woof Woof Woof the boys havent missed a beat.

Surely you are not serious...B-Turf...

B-turf sides could go all season in the VTCA and not win a game. The WDCA A-turf standard is not up to much if yesterdays Wyndhamvale vs GU Grand Final is anything to go by, let alone B Turf.

In all seriousness some of you blokes who are praising the standard of the WDCA need to get off your ar$e and go to watch some other cricket being played around the area.

VTCA will take applications from all sides looking to move their clubs forward and give themselves a future and a challenge. Those clubs stuck in their own little fishbowl of self importance and perceived ability, apply to the WDCA.

Don't know who you've been talking to but I can ashore you that this is up to all at roosters and no one person will make a deision that will affect the future of our great club. April 15th. 16th of April all will know our futue and in which comp it will be in. It is one of three. WDCA, WSUCCA & VTCA.

Don't know who Tram is;)...but he's right about one thing the club as a collective will make the decision on where we play next year, one individual (prominent or not) is one vote and only one vote!! There are good things about both comps (the VTCA and WADCA) so we will put it all on the table and let the group decide.....bloody Richmond shit me!!

Mate,Ive watched plenty of VTCA cricket(all levels) and WDCA would be no worse than Nth-A.........Dont forget Willy CYMS left our comp 5 years ago and with the same bowling attack theyve had for 10+ years and a couple of new bats are now in Sen Div.............they couldnt beat GU in our comp so they packed their bags????????
Werribee Centrals won Nth-B flag this year and would NOT make top4 in WDCA!!!!!!!!

Just a small correction, CY'S did not leave WDCA because of GU. We left because at that time outside of GU the standard was poor. GU were easily the best (as they continued to prove), we were second best (but not good enough) and everyone else was a fair way behind. We didnt leave to avoid GU, if there were more teams of their ability it would have made for a much more enjoyable year of cricket. In our last year in the WDCA we beat the side that finished 3rd outright by an innings, beat one of the bottom sides outright in a 1 dayer after batting 1st and rarely had a game (except for GU) that was anything like close which suggests to me that the depth in the comp at the time wasn't very good. Now after watching the WDCA from afar for the last 5 years (well 100 mtrs anyway) not much seems to have changed. Wyndhamvale bowling looks very good, GU still have Dean, Carl, Eddie, Darren Jury, Frewy and Brash so they will be ultra competitive, Imps bat very well (most of the time), Newport Digman have plenty of experience (which like CY's bowling attack aint getting any younger) and West had a couple of impressive bowlers but the bottom teams were very poor, and some of the teams that have recently been relegated (like Baseballers) were worse. The depth of the comp is its biggest problem. The bits of the Grand Final I saw ( which wasn't alot) says to me that Wyndhamvale are a good side but wind back the GU side by 5 years, add in Chuggy, Squizzy, Johnsy, Fabulous Phil, Murky Waters and anyone else I have managed to forget and you will find it hard to argue that Wyndhamvale would beat them. A merger between the 2 comps can only be good for cricket standards in the West, as you can pit the best of each comp against each other, but mergers are rare, takeovers are far more likely and from what I can see at the moment neither comp is on its knees, so it looks like it will continue as is. Centrals had enough good players to make top 4 of WDCA, standards are similar
