very serious incident in mats today involving a well respected member of wdca and umpiring fraternity.the most cowardly act i have seen in my time in cricket.no wonder we struggle to get good people to umpire local cricket.

I hope the tribunal has the balls to rub this ferral out for life. Deliberately running straight into the back and flattening an umpire who's well into his 60's is a disgraceful act. He didn't like Bill calling his bowling for no balls just because they were missing the pitch. If he'd flatten an umpire for that what would he do to Eugene or little Normie?

not sure but i doubt he would be such a tough fella if the umpire in this games sons got hold of him.ive heard they can be a pretty handy opponent.
 
In the cold light of day we have to assess the merit in having teams from outside the competition fielding their lower grade teams in our association. The WDCA is NOT a graveyard for retired turf players, or blokes that are not serious about their cricket.
 
fab 10 i get your point re sides from vtca putting lower grade teams in our competition,if they choose to take there a & b turf away take the lot.totally agree.but there are plenty of retired turf players running around in the mats with blokes who are not very serious about there cricket that i see come back to rooms saturday nights who love it.they dont go around assaulting umpires and in my view thats what this is assault.i also doubt this ferral ever played turf cricket,one things for sure i bet he never does again.

Its time the comp made a stand against this kind of behaviour, I hope they rub this bloke out for life & Werribee Centrals CC (juniors & seniors) should be kicked out of the comp. We are doing them a favour having them in our comp, not the other way round. This is the 2nd time this season that a WCCC player has been involved in an incident such as this.........

On a lighter note, I see a multipule A-Turf premiership captain coach made a successful comeback in the C-Matts for GU on the weekend................

No appearance your worship.
The accused didn't turn up at the tribunal nor did anyone from Centrals. He's probably joined another club in another comp by now & getting ready to play on Saturday.
On a lighter note, comeback yes! successful no! made a duck. Back to fishing next Saturday.
Must be something about GU's C -Mats, the current captain-coach always plays there when turf's washed out.

Hopefully the player involved in the incident with the umpire is banned ,named and shamed and placed on the VMCU and Cricket Victoria suspended players list so all clubs are aware of this person so they dont have him turn up at their club to play.
 
tips for weekend, weather looks good so lets play. g/brand v digman.....digman to strong here.....grand v cheats........replay last years gf should be a good one,im leaning towards cheats.bit worried about grand being 6 for 30 against p/c........vales v p/c ........vales bowling way too good on that track, could be the ten points they need......imps v colts........imps way too much depth for young colts........................one thing is for sure one bad week this year and no matter who you are,you become very vulnerable.......pressures on.......good luck.

i heard he will get off.....was in his run up and about to bowl and bill taylor(umpire) walked into him after an earlier incident.....dunno it doesnt sound right!!!!still shouldnt even argue with them......time will tell

If mr Holmes thought he was not guilty why didn't he & his club front the tribunal on Wednesday night?
The umpire walked into him! FFS!
