I've just heard the news of the day bout 10mins ago...

Trent Lawford might be a free agent for next season!

this wouldn't have to be with the coach giving everyone a spray and naming 'passengers' in the rooms after the loss to lavo would it?

Looking at the batting figures a few posts back there seems to be quite a few passengers so maybe it (the spray) was warranted.

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Will it change anyones selections for this week now all games have become One dayers?

ND V Wyn- Still think ND just, only for their stronger batting, but extra week off may give Plummer time to recover and be available so would bring Wyn closer.

Imps V GU- This one could now be in GU's favor. Imps only able to get 10 overs out of Robson this week, wont help Imps bowling stocks and may assist GU to post a defendable score for their bowlers.

Lav V Colts- Colts won in a close OD early in season, but Lav play better at home? Still will be a close call, but stick with Lav. (One bonus for the umps will be that they will only have to put up with 40 ovrs of the colts boys carrying on out in the field and not 80!!!)

The comp shouldn't have let this happen!

I agree the B Turf is a shambles and should be a seconds comp only with the same clubs as A Turf and the same fixture with the same clubs playing each other in both the A Turf and B Turf in the same round.

Clubs like Pt Cook, Deer PK & Rams either fall into line and play A Turf or are put into C Turf. Ideally we should have 12 sides in A & B Turf so everyone plays each other once. Looking at the present set up Point Cook should find it self a Turf wicket and go into A Turf next year, Deer Pk / Ardeer sould also go into A Turf and Rams should go down to C Turf.

For too many years we have had clubs first sides playing B Turf and dominating some examples are Hoppers Crossing, Wyndanvale, Clarenton, Port Colts, Laverton Nth Saints, Newport Powerhouse, Willy Colts etc

WRR,
I agree with you, in a perfect world this would be the case.

But in saying that I actually like the idea of teams getting the opportunity to break into our comp (point cook etc..) as long as it is managed correctly.
Once these teams establish themselves in our comp, it will only make our comp so much stronger and much more competitive.
Take Willy Colts for example, for years their 1st were in the B turf for years and now they are starting to knock on the door of finals cricket which is great for our comp.

The problem is when the comp is reluctent to make a decision about a team that is in a grade that is not suitable for them (Newport Rams).
Having a bye is rediculous, its hard enough to get a full season of cricket in with washouts and heatouts.

We should always be looking at making our comp as strong as possible and having these new teams in the B turf is agreat way of doing this but it is also important to sweep out the rubbish as well (harsh but true!).

So this means Colts and Lav to play each other twice in 5 days then!
Could be a good 20/20 on the Wed night then, if either team loses sat and misses out on a finals berth in the main comp, reckon it could be a real grudge match.

Your spot on with your thoughts on new sides coming in the comp, but it is hard for 2nd eleven sides always playing 1st eleven sides.
Until we can get 3 more clubs in the comp we are stuck, but to have a bye in B-Turf the last 2 years is ridiculous,we dont play enough cricket as it is with washouts, byes and now bloody heat rules(CRAP).............

3 new teams could open the door for--- Div 1(8 teams)Seniors+Seconds and Div 2(8 teams)Seniors+Seconds with relegation + promotion each year......Div1 could start with ND,GU,WYND,LAVO,IMPS,WEST,COLTS,GELLI(the strongest 8 at moment) and everyone could play each other twice in a 1 day + 2 day game home&away???
