If you could pick any team to chase down 180 odd at W'Vale with their finals spot on the line you would pick GU. Very mentally strong and know how to win. The last wicket stand for W'Vale has put the pressure on them but l think GU are odds on to get the runs as they have 80 overs available to make them. Deano will play a huge role as the anchor man with the rest batting around him.
even after he did his hammy on the weekend?

look at all the nibbles ive recieved since the last post.

few things, what did we make at that 'poo wicket' against the vales?????
with a lesser attack, much better wicket and faster outfeild... how can you write us off that easy? beats me...
vales wont touch that wicket all week like they tried to do against us, if gu can handle it then good on them, but after getting rolled for 50 odd earlier in the year i know who i'd have my money on.
and lets face it, the wicket you played on against us played much better than the one we played on on the weekend

Knowing Deano a hammy injury won't stop him and he can bat with a runner. The senario of 80 overs to get 180 odd could not be scripted better for Deano.

Your'e very quiet considering you've just smashed one of the flag favourites in the gimps. What happenned? It cant have been the wicket as there were 270 odd runs scored for the day.
Could be an outright next week?

i notice rohan aka rowan atkinson aka mr bean didnt mention anything about colts winning outright this week and stuffing lavos finals chances. oh thats right ; make 5 statements 4 of which are wrong and just cling to false hope and the promise of a new dawn. at least your pro active down there, recruiting quality young players such as batties. Admittedly delaney is a great pick up,but he is of no value to you sitting behind the microphone at a race track enjoy your off season

Too little too late we can't make the finals. The wicket had a bit in it early and our new ball attack of the Irving bros bowled very well without luck. Hinton was dropped in slips twice before he was 10 and played and missed at least 15 times. Young Cory Irving ( 15 years old ) bowled super quick taking 4 for 11 off 10 overs none of the Imps batsmen looked comfortable against him. He will only get quicker as he grows and has taken over 20 wickets this year.

It was a mixture of good bowling and poor batting restricting Imps to 101. Small totals are hard to chase sometimes so we approched it aggressively and past them 3 down in about 17 overs.

We will be looking for an outright next week to finish the season on a high winning 4 of our last 6 games. Next year our young players will be a year older and the experience of this season will hold them in good stead we will also be topping up our side with hopefully 3 or 4 new players to bolster our top order as we have struggled to bat out 80 overs this season. I think we will be a big show next year if we can improve our batting as l believe our openning bowling attack is as good as anyones including W'Vale.

we have a few in a turf young milorad who took 5 wickets on saturday and shayne commo is only 18 years old. got 2 young kids in the seconds who should play a turf next year . also have 2 junior teams playing finals which hasnt happened in a long time . i think a lot of clubs are struggling with ageing lists as there is so many other options for the young guys besides cricket.all you can do is bring them thru the juniors and hope for the best

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

that's a fair point. Our club has a young A-Turf side, which can only be a good thing for the future. Alot of junior teams at the moment with some good players in every grade which can only be good. An under 17 debuted in the 1's on Saturday and I thought he batted alright.
Milorad bowled well on the weekend taking 5. the wicket helped him out which was a good thing. He ended up getting me out on the weekend after much persistence haha

We are going through a rebuilding stage and see our youth as the future of our club. On Saturday we had 6 teenagers & 1 21 year old in the A Turf which has been the case all year, most clubs can bring in younger players and blood them by batting them down the order or bowling them as change bowlers we have taken a different approach our first 4 bats, both opening bowlers and wicket keeper are 21 or under. The problem with so much youth is inconsistant performances especially with their batting as they are all big stroke makers thats why we need to bring in a least a couple of experience top order bats next year which will make a huge difference and i believe would enable us to make 250 plus in most games. Which our bowling attack could defend consistantly.

dolz couldnt have said it better could he? nah mate look your young players are going to be great for you. that spinner takes 5 on that wicket, rippa effort. how do they go against decent teams? anyone can make runs against the ana's and hoppers clubs. if you get beat this week and either we win or yep colts sneak in, thats gu gone. the run is over and you all know and we all know it. you blokes are done, you can talk about young players all you want the fact is, gu have very very few if any. ill use us for example champ, look at our team, work out the ages, let me know how we are going as for the future.

One thing about GU they are cashed up and will hit the market place off season to bolster their ranks don't be suprised if they snag a couple of top liners.

for once i agree with what you are saying mate, the future of lavo is brighter than most other clubs. the blueprint for success has been drafted.step 1 is to employ a coach who walks out on the eve of a finals series, step 2 is to drop a promising youngster from the granny in favour of a 45 year old, step 3 is to lose that grand final by 200 odd runs, step 4 is to not play finals in the next 2 seasons, step 5 is to have an embarrasingly intense hatred/jealousy of the greatest team in the comps history, and step 6 is to make idiotic statements on big cricket which will surely attract players to your club

since when do they have a hatred/jealousy of Willi Imps? They're the most successful club in the history of the comp. They won 8 flags in a row. something that you guys just might not do
