eddiesmith;273407 said:He is a huge liability in the field as well and at his age he aint ever going to get better, most slips fielders in the world would have held onto that chance earlier especially as it went straight into the hand
But if they send for a replacement for Jaques then he is in trouble, shouldnt be given a chance to make runs when the series is lost
To be honest I think that Haydos needs to retire. He's the same age as Kumble.Ljp86;273417 said:Hayden has credits in the bank at this point, he has been a wonderful player for Australia over the years and he'll need more than a couple of bad innings to be in danger of getting the chop. I don't think he'll get dropped in the series regardless of how he goes for the rest of the tour. With Australia having lost one of their specialist openers, I can't see the selectors dropping another one as it it would leave the openers exposed with Katich and potentially another inexperienced player opening. Australia may go the other way and choose not to bring a replacement player over which would mean that Hayden would stay in the side.
I suspect Hayden will be given part of the summer to make runs. Australia plays New Zealand in a two-test series starting in November, if he doesn't make runs then, his place would be in serious question.
I agree with you es.eddiesmith;273380 said:Time for them to retire that old ************** Hayden

Hey I agree with you. I believe that we are going to lose the series because our team isn't as strong as it use to be. Yes we are missing McGrath, Warne, Langer, Martyn, etc. But we can't be with those guys all the time. It's the same with the poms (your mob) Michael Vaughan couldn't go on and keep on playing.edladd;273515 said:Big trouble now - no chance of an Australia win, and I don't think it's possible for them to survive 4 sessions with 6 wickets after losing the first 4 so quickly!

It is a huge reality check for the team. They have never gone through losing a series for ages.
Sorry I thought you were a pom.edladd;273526 said:MY MOB!! Nope, my mob (Ireland) are in the final of the Intercontinental Cup at the end of the month When it comes to test cricket I'm just a very interested neutral. I am up for Australia in this series as I love their aggressive style and self-belief. There was a while there when, even though they were losing big names, there was no shortage of talent coming to replace them. This should still be the case - I'd say they just need some time for the new guys to make their own place in the team - which is difficult with the pressure of the big names of the past on their shoulders.
Watson out now too ...
