Australia in New Zealand

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Why don't we discuss it here, it's a pain in the arse to have to skip to other forums.

This concerns the topic of Johnson's current form on the New Zealand tour.

A couple of clicks of the left mouse button too hard for you, eh?

Re: Australia in New Zealand

If we could confine this thread to match discussion that would be great. In-depth analysis of players and selection should go in those specific forums.

I understand that the two topics overlap and many people will want to post on both, but this will improve readability. New Zealand fans and neutrals following the series have little interest in scrolling through pages and pages of discussions of the Australian team - that's why we have national team forums.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Disappointing Day 1 so far for the Australians.

All the batsmen getting starts, but no-one going on with it.

Watson, Ponting and Clarke gifted their wickets, which was extremely frustating.

Australia at tea are 180/5.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Haddin gone now, NZ in a good position if they can finish Australia's innings quickly.

edit - Johnson gone for a duck.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Pathetic effort from the Australians on Day 1, absolutely pathetic.

No application, what about Clarke holing out to deep long on.

Bunch of mugs, might as well tell England to keep the Ashes.

Can't see Australia getting back into this game, Vettori was rampant in the first innings.

Typical of this side, one step forward, two steps back.

Disgraceful.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

They got 50 more than NZ could even hope of making, Australia will still get a 1st innings lead and then pile on 500 in the 2nd innings

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Anyone catch what Haddin said to Sinclair about shoelaces and moving his feet quicker?

Re: Australia in New Zealand

A moderate improvement on the performance of day 1, although it must be said, that isn't that hard.

Hauritz has been belted out of the attack, we are basically bowling from one end at the moment. NZ only trailing by 9 runs with 4 wickets in hand.

Australia would want to bat very well in the 3rd innings, because they will most likely be up against a deficet.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Australia 35/0 at the end of play, effectively 2/0 after chasing down the lead and now into the positives. Watson is on the march, playing confidentally, and Katich was playing for the end of the day.

Good bowling, great counter from Taylor, and now good batting to be in the lead with none down.

With the scores practically even it has now turned into a 3 day, 2 innings game. Result for sure.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Australia would have had a very big lead if Cameron White was playing, he would have taken that simple chance Taylor offered up early that Watson and Ponting watched go between them

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Of course eddie. Ponting is a terrible slips fieldsman isn't he? Especially compared to white. Who has taken several catches that are in the top few of all time and who just snatches the sitters from other for attention?

Watson's catch; he was deeper.

Ponting is a god.
