Hey Razza,

Is the ground so badly cut up because of the footy or is it being re-sewn?
Is hasn't been re-sewn yet as far as I'm aware ... works will start in early October at this stage.

I'd say they're probably trying to ensure that the ground is in the best possible condition for the VFL game, especially with a little bit of moisture around and a turf wicket in the middle that would muddy up relatively easily.

Cob what's your problem with Pidge, she's on hear making no fuss, irrelevant comments with no idea what she's talking about, fluffing around but who cares – why don’t you her alone and add some decent comments cricket related yourself, your snipes at her have become boring –if you play in the comp who do reckon will figure prominently this year, sounds like my rumor mill was wrong about the great man himself Jeffrey, what about Faulkhead I hear he might be coming down with us to Melb to play, what about the hack from Avoca is he playing, what about Fletcher is he playing - is Young going to Geelong with Faulkhead - is Pike going to Essendon - is Warne going to play in the next Ashes??? Is Wendouree now the team to beat, is Steve O’Loughlin the best bat in the comp – is there anything else happening around the traps you know of you can add, or are you just here to bag the poor little Pidge chick who is irrelevant anyway…

C'mon Shaky ... you've been involved in cricket long enough to know we (or anyone else for that matter) wouldn't show our hands before they've signed on the dotted line ;)

It's actually quite funny to hear all the rumours and innuendo about who we have been talking to, who we've allegedly signed and what-not :D

The captaincy will be decided upon by the Committee, but I would be surprised if Hammer does not have some input there. Both Matt and Xav are ultra-keen to continue in the top job as far as I know.

Heard a couple of different scenarios Hoppy is contemplating but nothing concrete at this stage.

i don't blame you. if hoppy is coming out of retirement it may help with the recruiting drive.

who is rumoured to be joining you, if it is only a rumour without merit it can not harm to name a few?
Best of luck with it, i hope the ground situation does not hinder any possible signings.

righto shiv, lets look at your 2 posts on here. plenty of rumours, most of them crap (you even admitted that), not a good start. then in both your posts, you have slagged off at chris walter, calling him the hack from avoca both times. are you secretly obsessed with him? having had a beer after we played against him, he comes across as a decent bloke. in both posts you pose the same question of 'are wendouree the team to beat', so obviously you play for them. well unless the bca have removed the semi final from the draw, then you guys will no doubt choke at the stage once again.....so 2 posts, plenty of repeats from yourself.

yep i play in the comp, have done so for plenty of years. do i talk cricket on here, yep, go back thru my posts & check. does pidge annoy me, yep, coz talking about grass, football umpires & other meaningless crap she goes on about sh*ts me no end.

definitely got ur back on that one cob. chris is a genuinely top bloke, and one of the cleanest and biggest hitters of the ball ive ever seen. he's made plenty of runs and was a big addition to our lineup. obviously some of you out there have been on the other end while he's been batting...

Getting to that time of the year with pre-season starting up. Who else out there has begun pre-season?

Cob,
Stop judging everyone by their posting. You really are starting to get up everyone's nerves by posting shit about others that they don't need.
Looking back over the topics that we have been discussing, Grounds, Umpiring, player movements, rumours, yep all I have done is at least joined in with the discussions. Whilst you have done your bit by trolling and going off topic. You either stick to the topic, or shut up and report the posts if you feel that they don't make sense or are stupid. Please do not fart about on here with your pointless comments about other people.

Can't be bothered going back 200 Pages to see if you've talked cricket Cobber of late you've been sledging only the boring Pidgeon, surely you better than that Cob - thought you'd bite though re Mr Avoca - quetions is though is he playing???

I'm not a Wenouree player, but from a far with the coach they appear to have picked up and their strong list, with Naps losing Mr Avoca, Faulkhead, Banwell and possibly more - Mt Clear without a few, East with in fighting you'd have to say door is open for Wendouree.

Come on Cob rather than biting back give us some insights from you vast knowledge of the comp. Walter is a clean striker, but even he'd be the first to say from all reports that he is a bit of a hack these days...who's going to skipper North with the new Coach and thoughts???

I have heard that reigning Cleary medallist Johnson is still deciding whether to have a crack in Melbourne or not. i think he should have a go because i think he can do quite well down there. haven't heard of any others, Pyke is good enough to return and play some good cricket and Miller is talented enough to get a go also.

That still leaves them with Skinner, Jenkins, Webb, Knight, Delmenico, Beacham (if he plays now that he is back) and a lot of younger talent such as Bell, Barnett and Turner. I am sure that there are more that can step up into a grade, they always seem to have good quality players and with Dash Collins coaching these guys they will only improve.

East will still be a strong side as will mount clear, and golden point surprised a lot of people last year and will continue to improve with another years experience to their young guys like whittle, swards and faulkner.

Naps will still be fairly strong with Sandwith, Scott (future cleary medal winner) Thompson, the Ringin boys and branch as well as corden. still not a bad side.

Ballarat-redan will possibly struggle again as will Brown Hill and North unless they all recruit really well, haven't heard of any recruits from these clubs at this stage. Darley are always an unknown at this stage of the year but wouldn't be surprised if Steenholdt had recruited well for them, Capey may be able to fill us in.

My tip would be Wendouree to not underachieve this year and finally get over the semi-final hurdle to win it from East.

Any other thoughts at this very early stage?

Come on Cob rather than biting back give us some insights from you vast knowledge of the comp. Walter is a clean striker, but even he'd be the first to say from all reports that he is a bit of a hack these days...who's going to skipper North with the new Coach and thoughts???

knowing the coach of north, i wouldnt be surprised if 'noddy' gladman is named as skipper at the roosters....

Any other thoughts at this very early stage?

yeah some very good thoughts there. I think that it is going to be a question of who comes together best on the day. Wendouree certainly look the goods but can they dominate the competition like they should? North and Darley have apparently been doing some serious scouting, so what do they have in store?

Definitely looking forward to the start of the season even though it is still so far away!! Its going to be interesting to see where everyone ends up.

The Darley Lions will be stronger again this year. Having been on top of the table at Christmas they know it takes a full season of hard work to make the finals.

The club is out there getting the darley cc some exposure which will hopefully gain some quality cricket playing experience in the not to distant future.

All the list intact from last season apart from one good player who has moved to melbourne but trying to twist his arm to travel. very hard to do to an accountant with petrol as it is at the moment.

we will be better. Training starts tomorrow night as well with the club utilising the YMCA facilities doing a "footy" type pre season. could be the fittest 3rds & 4ths ever.
