There must be dozens of Rahul's popping up around clubs. We've got Matt "Rahul" McKenzie. Any more Rahul's?

Parker from Darley has turned into a Rahul. He batted for over 10 overs and made a duck against us last round...

Didn't even look to score.

Just because you have played Country Week doesn't give you an automatic right to give some lip but it does show that you are one of the better players in the comp so I would've thought you could sledge then.

Banwell played a couple of games in the one's and he is one of only a handful of players in the comp to have played district one's so I think he is justified in having a sledge.

Bloody hell boys, been away for a few days and to get back and read some of this stuff...geez!!! As far as sledging goes, most blokes will only sledge u if u try to talk back...i mean ive played with banners, branchy and les right through juniors and seniors and unless u mouth back they will hardly say a thing to u!! sure you'll cop a bit if u play a God-awful shot but then how many of you out there could say that u have never done it!??! Take a leaf out of PC and sometimes Bambury's book...if u sledged them they would just knuckle in and just make runs!!

well said there pots.... it's pretty easy also for a lot of people on here to run there mouth about clubs and that they are no good and it makes me wonder how many of them have played a high grade of cricket or been around these clubs to see what they are like.. the old saying you can't judge a book by it's cover.... maybe people need to learn to played the game to get the respect from players that they are playing against before shooting there mouth about players or the club they are paying out...

the_don88 - There's no way of checking other than working it out yourself. It's worked out on a points system from all teams winning. Don't quote me on it but I think it's 10 points for a 1st XI win, 6 for 2nd XI, 4 for 3rd XI and 2 for the 4th XI. I don't think outrights come into play, it's just wins in total. Gimme 10 minutes and I'll work it out. (Yes SteveO, very busy here at Telstra. I'm on my lunch break though)

not sure, but i thought it was multiply your 1stXI points by 5, 2nds x 3, 3rds x 2 & your 4ths x 1

Either way the multiplication remains the same just halve my figures if that's the case. This is what I've worked out going by the ladders. I could be a couple of points out, as it's hard to tell unless you go through every grade and every game, going by the ladders as they stand at present.

Mt. Clear 124
East 120
Wend 112
Naps 104
Point 100
BRCC 94
Darley 76
BH 56
CC 32
North 26
This is worked out at 10 points per 1st XI win, 6 for 2's, 4 for 3's and 2 for 4's. Pretty close up the top. You would think that with East playing Mt. Clear this week the 1st and 2nd XI matches could potentially decide the club championship?

north have to be the story of the season. this club has struggled for so long, even when they had thommo at the helm. with a club as rich & full of resources, how can they be so far off the mark?

Great question. A flag 4 or 5 years ago though. Shows how good a player Hoppy and PC were.

I guess unlike football as has previously been mentioned, you can't go out and buy quality cricketers for your club. Without money involved players are more loyal to their clubs. Not everybody has what it takes to coach a club, and if they do it's still hard to find the time. I'm sure if the BCA opened up the rule on paying players we may find a few blokes, either from Ballarat or the surrounds, would make the move?
I know nothing about the North Ballarat Cricket Club but surely the sports club would be on the ball and find out a way to bring them back to their former glory?

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

yeah goes in cycles. We (Naps) were wooden spooners in A grade a couple of years ago but are in it up to our ears this year. So hypothetical then. If there was an AFL style trade week what would each club want and what would they be prepared to trade? at naps we probably need 1 more quality player in say that 27 - 30 bracket. got plenty of blokes up and coming who will fit that void in 2 - 3 years but short term someone of that ilk would just round us out nicely. of course am not prepared to give anyone away to get that person though which I guess defeats the purpose of a trade but I'm sure you get my drift...............

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

well, everyone has been very busy on here over the last couple of days.

if north upgraded their facilities they could have a really good ground out that way and would help with recruiting.

Look at point, i am not saying that it is solely the chance to play at Eastern Oval frequently that makes an out of town player play there but it would have to help a lot, three quality recruits over the last few years are obviously Kelton, Swards and Appleton. Well Swards is not from out of town so i'll remove him
