well, everyone has been very busy on here over the last couple of days.

if north upgraded their facilities they could have a really good ground out that way and would help with recruiting.

Look at point, i am not saying that it is solely the chance to play at Eastern Oval frequently that makes an out of town player play there but it would have to help a lot, three quality recruits over the last few years are obviously Kelton, Swards and Appleton. Well Swards is not from out of town so i'll remove him

Yeah remove Swardsy from that calibre Shakes, he's OK but I wouldn't call him a quality "recruit" for them. He still owes me a beer for sticking up for him and letting him go too!

i think putting me in the same sentence as kelts and apples is very very detrimental to them, sorry boys.

We have been lucky. Dave Horwood and Andy Falkner are another two who approached us when they saw the Eastern and our rooms, along with an opening bat from (can't say) who has been to see us in recent weeks that we hope we will secure.

Fair point. You would be such a better player if you didn't listen to me. You just need to work hard a make up for all of those lost years you spend idolising a ************ like myself. Although that ************ has hit you around in the 2 times we've played each other though am I correct?

if you count that full toss that i bowled which you prceeded to hit straight to mid on for a wicket im not sure?

the only thing i used to idiolise were your hand brake turns coming into training, especially when i was in the car and thought my life was going to end!

I guess unlike football as has previously been mentioned, you can't go out and buy quality cricketers for your club. Without money involved players are more loyal to their clubs. Not everybody has what it takes to coach a club, and if they do it's still hard to find the time. I'm sure if the BCA opened up the rule on paying players we may find a few blokes, either from Ballarat or the surrounds, would make the move?
I know nothing about the North Ballarat Cricket Club but surely the sports club would be on the ball and find out a way to bring them back to their former glory?

Waka, The only stipulation that the BCA put on paid players is that they must give consent to the player taking part each season. It's not really that hard to pay players in the BCA at all.

Let's just hope it doesn't become commonplace.

I guess unlike football as has previously been mentioned, you can't go out and buy quality cricketers for your club. Without money involved players are more loyal to their clubs. Not everybody has what it takes to coach a club, and if they do it's still hard to find the time. And thats the beauty of the Bombers - you can't go anywhere without them being raised in conversation - even a cricket forum. I can recall earlier rumours spreading about Hammer being drawn back to Coronet. thats news to me but that would be a fair coup for the Corra boys and a fair loss to us. i'm thinking we could look at compensation there if that was to unfold. So Burnsy if you're on this forum, how's that new house in Sebas going? definitely much closer to Naps then what you were in Invermay brudder. And tell ya lovely Missus Celste that I'm still waiting to get my sunnies back or otherwise I'll just collect them at my next "appointment"............

just 1 thing cobber,the polestroker is not an eastie 4 a start,so u'd want to maybe get ur facts right.. every1 on this forum knows who i am so im not hiding behind a fake name. cobber14....as far as branchy goes, i get along with him quite well thanx.. all i was saying was that there r certain younger guys who have a bit to say on the field,i dont mind blokes having a sledge,in fact its good fun most of the time.. i think u will find theres a couple of guys in our team that like to say a bit but they r guys that have been around 4 a while and proven themselves.. most of the other guys say very little apart from encouragement.if we think we can get to a bloke by sledging we do it..some blokes u just dont sledge.. at the end of the day we dont really care what people like u think anyway..so how about u stop hiding behind ur alias u moron...i think u would find the blokes that dont like the way we play our cricket r the ones that r a bit soft anyway..we know who u r.....

Hey pots, whats the update on Jeremy Collier? Out for the year? He would be very handy come finals time if fit.

hes back bowling at about 70% at the moment..getting better everyday..hes keen to be there come finals time but would really want to have played a game or two b4 then...

I think the rule is harsh, however the reasoning behind it is, however tenuous, to put a harder rub on the offending player. Hopefully having them recognise if they play up they take some collateral down with them in the form of their Captain. Any rational person realises that the Captain doesn't have that level of control over their players. All the Captain can do is act upon the first indication of bad behaviour and attempt to temper it down, if the bad behaviour continues and a player gets reported, both go down on the report sheet.

Well one would hope that as coach you would have some sort of sway over the behaviour of your players otherwise why bother coaching. When they are fielding you are out there with them. Any sensible coach would know when a team is going to far...

Well one would hope that as coach you would have some sort of sway over the behaviour of your players otherwise why bother coaching. When they are fielding you are out there with them. Any sensible coach would know when a team is going to far...

It sucks, but it's for the same reason, it's a harsher penalty, I reckon the kid that got you rubbed will never stuff up again, and now his team mates know the repercussions neither will they. Lesson learnt hopefully, I reckon that is why the rule was introduced.

I don't like the rule and I don't agree with it but thems the rules.
