Hang on Pigeon. Are you my Dad?!?!?

Cheers mate. I like the idea of a player survey (can't be bothered going back through 411 pages to see who it was), just have to put one together and get it out there somehow. I think I will make blokes put their names to it though, no doubt we'd get dodgy ones with names like Wophead and The Gospel talking poop wasting our time.

yeah not a bad idea.. if we can get every 1st eleven and 2nd eleven player from every club to put something on paper it should work..the time is now big fella..

That'd be a great base to work from...would give not only the bca but everyone a good idea of what everyone wants from the competition..then from there planning and development could take big strides forward

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Yeah more power to ya Wacka - definitely sounds great in theory. Don't want to be a wet blanket but typically sports adminstrators can be difficult people to be told that they need to make adjustments to their product - especially administrators who have been in their roles for lengthy periods of time. if you wanna see the definition of a toothless tiger look no further then the AFL Players Association. But still full credit to ya and if it helps the players get heard then all the better. For what its worth I would be happy to suggest the abolition of Saturday Sunday games for the lower grades. gonna be tough night at selection tonight filling 5 sides and thats with the lower grades pushing for finals contention. Would love to know how teams with lower grades out of finals and limping towards season end go chasing numbers for this weekends fixtures.

Maybe you can just run for President Waka and overturn Rambling Ronny.

What do people think about umpires in the lower grades. Most of the time the batting team does it and it generally works ok. Most people say that players are getting more honest about walking when they know they edge it etc and not placing pressure on their team mates to give them out.

Does anyone think this system should change. Would it be better to have a designated umpire from each club umpire the game from each end instead of the batting team or would this place too much pressure on people already volunteering their time to cricket?

i think if we are struggling to field teams in lower grades it would be near impossible to find someone to umpire

Glad you like the idea. Something that has been floating around in my mind for a few years. Would look to have a few different sections - some pretty light hearted and others bit more serious. Some of the questions that have been floating around here would be interesting:

ie. best captain, best bat, best umpire!!

Sections about country week, 2020 comp, one dayers, Sat/Sun cricket would be good. Need to have majority of questions as quick answers, and then a few spaces for longer responses, eg. How would you improve the competition? How would you improve umpire numbers? etc.

Looking for ways to fuel the passion for guys to be playing cricket in Ballarat, for Ballarat and seeing the game develop. Not just to complain.

SteveO,

As far as I know both M Cape and the offending player from Darley were placed on report. Not sure of the outcome though.

Capey got off last night and common sense prevailed boys. There is no way known a captain can stop a players brain explosion....

He did say that he saw one waka05 up there and didnt have a happy look on his face though...........
