Well one would hope that as coach you would have some sort of sway over the behaviour of your players otherwise why bother coaching. When they are fielding you are out there with them. Any sensible coach would know when a team is going to far...

Sleeper,

Unless you know why Swardsy went down I wouldn't pass that sort of judgement.

Pray tell me how do you make a teenager doing anything, or not do anything? As a parent I'd love to know. Maybe you have found the holy grail of parenting? Please pass on your knowledge

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

given the importance of the role the skippers will play coming into finals, who's the skipper that impresses you most (not your own clubs). for me, steenholdt has impressed with what he has done at darley, seems to be setting a high standard for his players to follow.

Hey guys one other thing. Please refrain from talking about tribunal hearings especially if there hasn't been anything put in the papers about it. It could get you into some trouble.
Others read this forum and who knows they could get you into some strife from here.

Well he certainly doesnt seem afraid to upset the boat there. Which is probably what Darley needed a bit of.

Here's an interesting/pointless statistic. I've just copied and pasted every post on this forum up to The Don88's last one into a word document and it's taken up 411 pages!
Now I have the fun task of sorting through them and picking out some useful points to take back to the BCA to make some changes.

Not sure how many blokes on this site have much of a say around their respective clubs, SteveO you're about the only one off the top of me noggin and maybe Irv, but do you guys think it would be worth me putting something out there to all BCA clubs to put forward their suggestions on how to change/amend/tweak the competition as it stands? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

i must commend u big fella on ur eagerness to get a spark back into ballarat cricket..i would be more than happy to do what i can to help in any way...its time the clubs and players had more of a say about what is needed each year..i'll chat to our president tonight and discuss a plan of attack..nice work..

Wasn't he at Fire Brigade and Haddon as well? Only played against him once. He could bat but, the gentlemanly way of saying it would be, he was a tad flighty.

You are obviously a cricket lover (tragic), Pidgeon. But you really need to lay off the bucket bongs, champ. They cloud your judgement!

Pidgeon, this is an open forum and we can talk all we want about tribunal hearings. Do you think the other things we talk about on here couldn't get some of us in trouble? We're all allowed our opinions and have a right to voice them. I think Jimmy is spot on the money!

You might be able to start up the Ballarat Cricket Players Association here Waka, have a membership fee and have drinks bbqs meetings etc. There is something for you to think about whilst you dont do any work!

Cheers mate. I like the idea of a player survey (can't be bothered going back through 411 pages to see who it was), just have to put one together and get it out there somehow. I think I will make blokes put their names to it though, no doubt we'd get dodgy ones with names like Wophead and The Gospel talking poop wasting our time.

i think there r some very good captains in ballarat at the moment..i met steenholdt the other nite and seems a good guy. but as far as his captaincy goes well it doesnt matter because there not in the finals.. fletch runs a pretty tight ship...matt skinner has a good cricket brain.. sven thinks about the game a lot.. what makes a good captain is his players,if ur captain of a coronet etc then u can be the best captain in the world but if ur players dont perform 4 u then it makes it hard.. i felt sorry 4 burnsy last week, poor ************** just hasnt got the players 2 support him..

Matty Skinner - excellent bloke and leads by example
Brendan Burns - simply for doing well in a struggling side and good, honest fella
Darren Fletcher - obviously his blokes respect him, good fella and he is coming good after a couple of lean years with the bat

I'm doing it for the love of the game mate, and trying to get what the players want to be fair to everyone. Hey, if blokes wanna buy me a few jars if I can get some actions from the BCA then so be it. You should be the first little wee man!
