Good point from steggles. Seems to have been spoken about for years and interesting to hear someone new in the comp recognise this issue immediately. Classic case this weekend with first XI top of the table clash at East High while 2nds game on at Eastern Oval. If we measure success of Ballarat Cricket in part on Country Week results, we need to make a committment to getting our best players on best grounds, so they are getting quality preparation for the higher level.

Would be interested to know what the Point position statement is with this, and what the politics are of having other teams play on clubs allocated ground, ie. pitch preparation, use of facilities, etc.

Carpet Legs / Clarky

how ya going there clarky? hope to see you back soon to jump on the back foot against me again???

my view on the eastern, and most at point i would think is that we have spent considerable money on our facilities down there and we obviously want our club to be playing there week in week out no matter wether it is 1st or 2nds. I think it would be disappointing after spending thousands of dollars on our facilities to only have a game there every second round and for other clubs to use the facilities we have spent so much on.

think that clarifies it from our view?

Cheers Fella. I haven't actually done much yet, just sorted through those 411 pages of trollope and got the good stuff! When I get a spare hour or so in the next week I'll put together the main points we would like to see amended/changed/f*cked off and get some sort of questionnaire happening. I'll post it on here and ask for some more opinions the figure out where to go from there.

Well, sounds like there was a bit of heat in the top of the table clash? I'm sure there would have been some interesting words spoken from both sides of the wicket no doubt. Good to see Nicho throwing his hefty 40kg frame around just like the Waubra GF loss last year...........hang on a sec, he got carried off just before the end when they needed a sheepdog to snatch a goal! This is getting interesting, are the wheels falling off the front-running Mounties? (Is Pigeon-fan gunna get into me for "picking" on the Mountme's?) Can anyone stop the "Recycle bin" mob heading into the finals? It pains me to say it but the Easties are my tip this year...........

Matty, when Dad played for Point in the 60s and 70s they shared the Eastern with Mt Clear and trained on deadly rolled wickets over near the bowling club. Unfortunately for you blokes the powers that be at Mt Clear left and went to, at the time, greener pastures.

The fact is it's our home ground and our kids deserve to play on our dunghill when it is their term in just the same way your kids can play on St Pats number 2 when it is their turn.

It's not our fault our home ground is the best country Vic ground in the same way East Point footy club have the same problem. It's just a fact.

Look, East will have a great set-up at Russell Square in a few years. We've been at the Eastern for 98 years so that's how it is.

Not only is B.Jones a great cricketer, he is one champion of a bloke. It is fair to say B.Jones was NOT the problem at Point. Lets see.....Great blokes, great cricketers recently finished at point...........

Obvioulsy B.Jones: as above
D.Klien: likewise, one heck of player, nice guy too boot
G.King: Top bloke, wouldnt be many people who spoke negatively of him, could play a bit too mind you.
N.Lee: similar moulds to the Kliens, and Kings in terms of personalities and abilities (fukn quick in his day).
M.Kelton, well probably no need to mention that he went alright on field, and off field, has been likened to the above mentioned four.

One would presume in some sort of capacity that the leadership on or off the field is not totally right somewhere for these guys to have enough reason to stop playing there.
Now I'm sure our resident posting pointies will jump on at some stage in defence of this, especially big guy (i'd love to slap a pineapple on it) as they seem to have some sort of defence anytime their beloved club is mentioned. But I dont care if you have been there 30 years or have been watching from the sidelines the last 3 weeks, to hear about these kind of departures, anyone would presume something aint right down at the Eastern oval!

Quick quick, cmon big guy, sven? Well the money is on big guy.......

P.S - B.Jones will make a fantastic captain at BRCC, have them back contesting the finals in no time.

It must SH*T you to tears that we are the youngest and the most together side around where everyone in our side and the twos and the threes, etc is pumped when blokes do well.

It must sh*t you that we are the only club in country Vic to have two reps in the Vic under 21s side that beat Vic metro.

It must sh*t you that Whitey was captain of that side and Falks made 50 odd in the final.

It must sh*t you that Kleiny, Stacky, Burger, Kelts and Romma remain as close to me as they ever were.

It must sh*t you that Peter Moore would crawl over broken glass for me.

It must sh*t you that we field enquiries from potential recruits each week when they see the Eastern Oval.

And it ABSOLUTELY must sh*t you that you have to hide behind a psuedonym (which is an artificial, fictitious name, also known as an alias, used by an individual as an alternative to a person's legal name.)

I wish BJ all the best and he knows that between he and Kleiny they'd made 46 runs from Xmas to the second last round in 2006-07 and that was an issue, so whether he was the Country Week captain or not, something had to give.

He's a nice bloke, as you obviously agree, but in our game stats don't lie.

P.S. Does Lynchy know he has already been superceded?

East, mate. They are an aggressive side and I know myself I sh*t myself when sides open the shoulders and back themselves.

It's ok to batten down the hatches but when sides like East (and Mt Clear) open up the Howitzers, on grounds like ours, there is not much you can do to stop them. And when you've got them on the board.......

By the way, that old pr*ck Irving had a blinder on the weekend so they, for mine, have all of a sudden become the raging faves.
