Darren they say good things come in all small packages, unfortunately you are far from a small package. As for the bowling i think one D fletcher may have the straight off spin fairly well covered

welcome seve. after years of reading, leechy's comment about being a bowler finally got you to bite. only problem is, i think his on the money.

Ahhhh matthew cape. you're not in the top 20 bats in the comp. especially after your piss poor performance in the last half of the bfl grand final. showed your lack of ticker. you went missing! you'll have to live with that for the rest of your life. randall would've been embarrassed. you weren't on your own though. darley are pretenders. just like herring.

Why were two of the Coronet blokes marked as absent on Saturday and therefore did not bat? They were Darren Carroll and McCarthy. Must have been for a good reason as I've never heard of that happening before in a First XI game.

Just out of curiosity steve-o why didn't you throw our blokes back in after making the 17 runs you needed for first innings??? Might of been able to steal an outright???

Redan are no way near as bad as what the first week might have looked Scull. They've still got some great players. They had one of those days.

There was no way they would have rolled over on Saturday. Our blokes got great practice with the bat instead.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Wendouree denied an outright victory
13/10/2008 4:00:00 AM
A DEFIANT opposition middle order firmly shut the door on Wendouree's plans for outright victory on Saturday.
Time beat Wendouree, despite having a nine-man Coronet City pegged at 4-44 in its second innings, but the club was still happy to take a 155-run win in the Ballarat Cricket Association club firsts.

Golden Point opted for youth development over an outright chase at White Flat, drawing stumps at 9-313 after bowling Ballarat-Redan out for 97 last week.

Napoleons-Sebastopol packed up 42 runs ahead of North Ballarat with one wicket in hand.

At Progress Park, the required run-rate slipped away from Brown Hill, allowing Mt Clear a comfortable 107-run victory, while East Ballarat fell 83 runs short chasing Darley.

Attention was on Wendouree's number two oval, to see if Wendouree could take a rare outright win.

The facts were in their favour.

Coronet City was chasing 354 without two of its key run-makers, Darrin Carroll and Alex McCarthy.

City was bowled out for 107 and sent back to the crease for a second innings.

A makeshift top order of Domenico Uljanic, Brendan Burns, Brendan Everard and Stuart Squire soon crumbled, 4-44, and Wendouree could sniff the outright.

However, Paul Gannon and Matt Wheeler spoilt Wendouree's hopes with a 47-run partnership, lingering until stumps.

Wendouree captain Matthew Skinner was pleased his team "had a go" at the outright.

"There was a very small window of opportunity and it was worth a shot, but at least our boys had an 80-over workout in the field," Skinner said.

"We're certainly happy with the win.

"Gavin Webb's 180 last week was fantastic and it was just a matter of bowling well to claim the points."

Consistent fielding helped.

Skinner's troops did not drop a catch and capitalised on a sharp bowling attack led by Eamon Johnson and recruit Rhys Cahir.

Opener Johnson took 3-68 from 24 overs while Rhys Cahir earnt his spot with 2-12 and 2-24 from 16 overs, including six maidens.

Robert Delmenico was solid support in the first innings, taking 3-28, while last week's unlikely batting hero Gavin Webb claimed 2-20 in the first.

Skinner said his team was ready to face last season's runner-up Napoleons-Sebastopol in a two-day clash next week.PF

TO CHASE an outright victory was never in Golden Point's plans on Saturday.

Golden Point captain Steve O'Loughlin said a hard wicket and two-day format made an outright win a tough assignment.

While the Pointies resumed play at 1-82, having bowled Ballarat-Redan out for 97 last week, O'Loughlin gave his youngsters experience with the bat before drawing stumps at 9-313.

Andrew Faulkner and Josh White returned to the crease to add to a 52-run partnership.

Faulkner lasted almost 12 more overs before he was caught, while White lasted eight more to chalk up 45 runs and start a steady partnership with his captain.

O'Loughlin was aggressive with the bat, hitting eight boundaries and two sixes on his way to 60 runs.

The Combine's bowlers gained momentum mid-afternoon, snaring the scalps of Adrian Harris, O'Loughlin and Pete Appleton within six overs.

THERE was nothing flashy about Napoleons-Sebastopol's 42-run win against North Ballarat.

Napoleons-Sebastopol mustered just enough effort to claim the points and allow its lower order a solid hit-out to end the day with one wicket in hand.

The team resumed play at 0-10 and was chasing 165.

But it was not entirely smooth sailing.

Clever fielding kept North Ballarat from being completely belted about.

North youngster Tom Geddes captured three big wickets in his A-grade debut, sending David Sproules, Daniel Scott and Luke Corden back to the change rooms.

Sproules was Napoleons-Sebastopol's highest scorer with 40 runs.

North rookie James Winnard also claimed his first A-grade wicket

OPENING bowlers Simon Feros and Rhett Ovens marked their arrival at Mt Clear with a collective six wickets on Saturday.

Brown Hill was chasing a high but achievable 393 runs before its required run-rate began to swell.

And early dismissals hurt, too.

Ovens bowled a wicket-maiden in the third over, sending Andrew Sherry back to the rooms on five.

Brown Hill captain and opening batsman Peter Kane had little time to recover when Feros sent him packing five balls later, also in a wicket-maiden.

Then Brown Hill was staring bleakly at a 2-9 scorecard.

Feros later collected Kane's co-captain Ryan Knowles in a four-wicket haul, also nabbing sturdy middle-order batsman Bradley Coyle, who had helped revive the Bulls with 54 runs.

Jason Knowles, batting at number four, was also a key performer for the Bulls.

He bolstered their chase with 71 runs and a strong 110-run partnership with Cameron Tonkin.

TOP wicket-taker one week, highest run-scorer the next. East Ballarat youngster Peter Colbourne has continued his stellar start to the season with 90 runs against Darley.

This followed a 3-69 performance with the ball against the Lions last Saturday.

But his impressive performance was not enough to help East reach its 374-run target at Russell Square, with the Easties' falling 93 runs short in a valiant fight.

Probably came across that way Jedi. didnt mean it to but its all about interpretations when you read it on a screen. Can run you through those dismissals if you like in glenn mcgrath fashion though.

Good win by the lions on the weekend. Would have won by a lot more if we could have caught the ball. Put colbourne down 3 times and dropped hasselhoff on 0.

Moore bowled with good pace and great stamina. Is a great recruit for the club. He hit hasselhoff in the foot twice and then in the ribs and the chirp from cover was gold, "Stop Hassling the Hoff moorey". Even the great man laughed.

All results were big wins!!!

Well Mike,

Appreciate the feedback and will take it on board. You can leave Randall out of it and while we all have a few regrets regarding the grand final at the footy club (kicking at goal to start with) no ones effort, courage, passion, mateship or attitude can be questioned.

Obviously a cricket forum and wont go into the footy but really looking forward to playing the swans next year and more importantly finding out who you are.........

Piss poor is probably bagging a bloke behind an alias on a computer screen.

Give us a clue to start the ball rolling - who do you play cricket for???
