Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Clocker,

There seems to be a whole lot of whining about that so called decision, but seriously which game of cricket is played without at least one disputed decision? I can think of at least 3 from our last game.
Sour grapes from the judge?

Also I'm not sure where you get this whole arrogance down at the 'brick' theme. Ego's aren't really tolerated at the club, so we'll just go about our business as we know best.

**********************************************************
OB/Mick,
Agree, and he is not called the Judge for no reason.Yep he took a swipe as he is entitled to, as it was a poor decision as was apparently the one at the Wash Ups game according to all reports. When it occured and whether it could have cost the Wash Ups a win is debatable, but you have to applaud the sportsmanship by Naidu. You don't see it too often in this win at all costs competition. Irrespective when you are 9/79 it is a bit rich to suggest that you could have won had the decision gone ANA's way.

I have never accused the Ommies of arrogance, cocky yes, but not arrogant. It has been a long three years for your lads and it is good to see that you have reaped the rewards of all the hard work that you many of the committee have done behind the scenes. You have stuck to a plan and now bearing fruit. You obviously did your homework with Ferguson as he has proven to be an exceptional coach and has really taken your team to a new level. It is not an easy task as many current and former coaches have found out.

The Judge thought that the Hoops would sneak in, and looking at the run home he may be right as they will have some big wins and build up their percentage as they beat up on the opposition they face in their last four games. One more loss however and it is adios amigo. All concerned at Elwood & Omega will be watching the second game after XMAS with great interest.

Omega run home: West Bentleigh,Le Page,Elwood,Uniting.

Elwood run home: Juggernaut,Kingston Heath,Omega,Mackie

Hoops run home: WashUps,ANA,Carnegie South, Le Page ( two possible outright wins on the cards)

Jimmy,
Yes the stats are being compiled and will be posted shortly.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

For the record, in my opinion, umpire decisions work in your favour some days, and they go against you in others. It evens out. To think that one decision cost you a game means you didn't do enough across the board to cover it.

Having said this 'The Judge' is entitled to air his thoughts... as suggested on this forum, people want to hear them. UM you've aired your complaints about specific decisiosn costing you games in the past, so to throw stones is slightly harsh.

How about the Wooly stats Clock, I reckon Wally.B has got 30 plus nearly every start just hasn't posted the big one yet.

There are criteria you should be aware of also. You have to pick players according to position in the team as regards current season. ie.2 best specialist openers for the season who have batted predominantly in that spot so you can't pick The Judge or Duddy to bat there although they have done that job in previous years. They have not batted there this season. Team to be in batting order. Obviously a bit of leeway in the middle order as 4, 5, 6, 7 are a little more variable than other positions so there can be flexibility there.

At this stage my squad would be:-
Casey - technically sound yet free scoring
Dallas - dasher gets in as bat alone, being a quality spinner is cream on pie
Krotofil - sheer weight of runs, key to his team
Duddy - class and bonus of being quality keeper
Mikkelson - see Krotofil
Ferguson - Gets em when you need em
M.Reid - outstanding all-round season
Bunting - see Reid
Park - 30 overs every week at 2 per over and bags of wickets
Surridge - still the best fast bowler in comp
Hendy - continually improving and economical for his type
McConchie - quality performer week in week out in all facets

Bunter, yep looks a quality unit you have compiled.. I would swap Squeak for Bunting though.
Choper for skipper, really come of age last 2 seasons, turned his 20s/30s scores into 50+'s & my early tip for the Knights award... where's bertie the bagman gone??

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

M.Reid
Bunting
Park
McConchie

Hi Burgs, how about this for a foursome, all can bat and bowl equally well, you would think that would be good enough but from what I hear four of a kind doesn't always get the chockies...............harsh pal.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

how the hell did you hear about that?? christ news travels fast, still losing sleep over that hand!!:mad::mad:

your a bit of a 'poker head' where were you at the centrals poker tournament? think there will be an encore in feb- will keep you posted..

Believe it or not Jimmy's promise has come through and the MJFWS tribunal section has suddenly been updated in 2010 with full and current tribunal details including the details you have requested.

I will report further later.

Anybody know what the bloke from the wanderers did to get 7 weeks?

1) Waist high No Ball - Not Guilty
2) Abuse - Guilty 4 matches
3) No Ball call - Guilty 2 matches
4) Throwing ball - Guilty 1 match
Penalty - 7 matches and also a suspended sentence of 2 matches until the end of the 2010/11 season.
From what I can gather it appears it may have been against Moorabbin West.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

If you can get a week for throwing it there's been a few offies around that should get life.

The Abuse charge was basically decent shown to the umpire after being given out incorrectly. Yes the "decent" was rather full on hence the 4 matches.

The throwing the ball incident was the following week when he was keeping and he threw the ball back towards the bowler but the bowler wasnt there and therefore it was deemed he was throwing the ball at the umpire.

The no-ball incident was a further case of decent towards the umpire for his disapproval of a no-ball call and knowledge of the laws of cricket.

I am in no way trying to defend the player (as i wasn't even playing in the match) and question the decisions handed down, just simply answering the question posted.

Good luck to all as we head into the business end of the season.

Interesting.Six matches for descent, and the skipper escaped any report for failing to control the player? I have heard some pretty decent sprays given to umpires in Longy and when they are reported they either get a reprimand or one week. This is a good example where the red card would have worked.
