Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Was rather busy last night with the BTC ,the SCFTC and the full bottle, to yet again give my two bobs worth on identities.

Just because BCFer's are known by their nick names eg Burger,Sugar,Uncle Mick,Jimmy etc it doesn't mean everyone knows who they are, some do, some don't.

As stated before I choose for a variety of reasons, (which the child cannot understand ) to not reveal but don't see that I have any less right to contribute to the BCF.It is not against the rules and can assure you I am not one of the 3 Bears and there is only one of me despite your alledged pink faces and other supporting evidence.if others want to double or triple up so be it that isn't my problem. We are all entitled to participate as we please as long as we follow the rules.

Vinnie

Has the hangover subsided and give us a bit of how both you and the gas bottles light up all four burners on the weekend.

PDog

Great effort from a man who like most of us knows very little about cricket to do as well as you did.If you had tied we could of had a bowl off and hopefully done better than the Aussies!

Thanks to those who have already supported the Santa Claus Finals Tipping contest with tips needing to be in by 12 midnight friday as usual.

Clocker

A great rebutal as usual and makes me think you were a star in the school debating team!!

Saul,

now that your cricket has finish you could get back on here and give us your thoughts on the state of the world or how your beloved Tigers beat the pussy cats?

It took me a while to get over it Merl, to say it was a big night would do no justice too it. All good now and cheers for the congrats.

Bad luck Jammo, you were pretty stiff in the end.

Great win by the boys, but also it was a case of mixed emotions as 3 of our other sides all missed out on percentage.
Obviously our 1's missed out on the final hurdle, but 7 wins for the year is nothing to be disappointed in.
Our 4's were unlucky as Le Page managed to get their outright and sneak past us by a point.
Our 6's who were on top with 2 rounds to go managed to lose the unloseable when defending 317. Unfortunately when you drop 15 catches you tend not to win too many games.

With us it was a case of being patient and taking our chances when they came. We didn't start too well missing a couple of chances and their openers made us pay. We didn't panic and stuck to our game plan and eventually more chances came by and at tea in was pretty evenly poised with Uniting 4-104. With knackers still in and batting intelligently, we never really thought we were in full control, but once Thiedeman and Doherty departed, who both managed to stick around with Manakis, we then managed to rip through their tail thanks to some express bowling by Mick Fletcher who has really come of age this year.

And then there was 4, but if you listened to some of the experts opinions then we might as well not even turn up!
Fact is that we've deserved our chance winning 4 out of our last 5, and go into the finals series confident of going all the way!

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Merl you will be found out it will only be a matter of time.........but here is a tip if you wanna keep calling me 'the child' or anyone else for that matter don't expect a smile and a polite hand shake when our paths meet.

Haha! I'll cop that Vinnie. If you're referring to the radio show comment I was put on the spot and that was my honest answer. Certainly nothing personal towards you guys as I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong and see your boys salute. I simply think Hampton Central are the team to beat. They've got all their name players going at the right time of the year and have had an impressive run since Xmas - plus handing Moorabbin West their first loss before the break. But as I said a couple of weeks ago, I've seen first hand what a bit of finals pressure can do to the Two Blues so you're definitely not without a chance.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Sugar nice photo of the great white hope Jack and RDB who could both be spoken highly of in years to come.Only saw the one ANA selection in the SCC so I assume there is only one team in the finals.

Not sure what colour skivvy the new wiggle is wearing but he has just proved my point about not revealing the mystery.I am still shaking in my boots.Get Inspector Periout on the job , Miss Marple, Jack Bauer or even the Mentalist.

Vinnie

Nice to hear from you and good luck against the photo identikit mob where you will need a photo of both Vinnie and the Ordinary bloke before taking the field.

Uncle Mick,

The photo identikit mob are no strangers to a bit of finals pressure and I think from memory they may hold the record low Longy finals score against the jellies some time back.

Also new rules for the SCC where you can pre view games something the new Wiggle has always wanted to do but something not delivered after falling from his lofty perch in the BTC.also I am not really sure where and when are paths are going to cross!!

The SCC preview

Would love to see B's mob do what they have regularly done in the H & A season and munch through the jellies.A big task but we have a big man for the job.Their only threat will be the rain as the jellies are experts at manipulating rain delay games.

The millionaires will not be bothered by the latest interest rate rise and should dispatch the highway pretenders unless the GG retains his place after the Daffy and can produce just one more of those finals blitzkrigs!!Alas I feel the JGG if reinstated will hold the balance of power in what should be a good game at the home of cricket.

merl just has to stay with his cluden boys who have had a great year and are a serious threat to go all the way and return to the Halycon days of yester year and get back in Longy. The oasisless Bott may have other ideas and like Vo Rouge the have led from the front all year and don't want to get caught on the post.

The Gas bottles have come home with a rush and like these pressure games to bring the best out of them. The identikits took the points recently but this game will be a lot close and dare I say it could be a photo finish!!

that will do for now as I better put the dark glasses, hat and trench coat on in case there is a knock at the door!!!!

until next time................... vino sipping poster....... Prof Merlot

I think you'll find Moorabbin West have that honour, Merl. Somewhere in the vicinity of all out for 27 at Big Hurly. Don't think we've seen too many scores like that in any Longy game in the past 10-15 years.

As we move towards the halfway point of the season the cream of Longy and BRC are rising to the top. The Longy four wont change, other than the order. The hoops as expected are going along very nicely although have not been really tested. Should be an interesting game with JGG lining up against his former mates this week. The blues had a nice run chase against the golf club and will only get stronger when they return to VP. The jellies have hardened up and are once again the juggernaught. Going about their business, they still have the talent to go 8 from 9 and expect their forumsters to jump back aboard the BCF as they realise the demise was only temporary and ray could just hang around for another year. The Gold caps have a bogey side and could this be the year they actually meet in March. Other than the loss of Bottsy, not much has changed at the Oasis and after some round 11 heartbreaks in the past, they will make the four this season. The top 4 just seem to be a fair way ahead of the rest of the pack. Someone from the pack will make a charge but will it be enough to displace one of the existing top 4. The Washups will give the golfers a fight for relegation with the Heath expected to be fairly competitive for the remainder of the season. A lot has been said about the ANA / Uniting game and i'll throw in my two bobs worth and state that at 1/213 it was a fairly pathetic effort by the green and golds not to get up but they are way to reliant on the new skipper, and when he goes, so do the winning hopes of ANA.

The BRC also looks like the final four is now settled. The pre-season favourites are undefeated and cruising. With the return of their opening bowler and some good form from the emerging youngsters, the West will give the cup a mighty shake. I will have a more in depth BRC PM another time but there is a strong possibility that the GF will be played for promotion to Longy as well as the Guy/Shaw medal.

Not bad if i may say so myself. In fact Nostradamus comes to mind.

Brett, i understand and would also not offer a smile or a handshake, more like a spit and a good punch to the head (not that that would do any damage). Let him run his bull dust tipping comps because the only thing that he is really proficient at is wrapping his lips around dick, and i bet he swallows too.

Hi guys,

The latest edition of the Bentleigh ANA Cricket Show is available to be viewed via the Home Page of the ANA website. Welcome to the Bentleigh ANA Website

It's a long episode this week as we review the H&A Season and predict the first week of the finals.

Enjoy.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

looks like we will need another squivvy for the latest member of the Wiggles!!!

Sugar,

Just sat through the award winning youtube show which was longer than War & Peace with the judge and yourself very quiet about your trip to the judiciary.I would have thought you could enlighten your BCF brothers on what took place at the Hamburgler palace where the ex President and the silent judge were facing charges.I understand it could be a case of sub judicary for the judge as he has appeal the sentence bestow on him.

Cedric obviously didn't get the same leniency as the barista did earlier in the year which smacks of double standards and yet more inconsistency from barrack and the Hamburgler's hench men.Surely someone who has given so much to both ANA and the CMCA and has had a clean sheet for many years deserved better.

Barrack you can kiss good bye any chance you had of recruiting Cedric to your Congress now!!!

Another bombshell from the youtube show was for the Judge to join Congress where I can see bigger head butts than Mitchell Johnson was able to dish out.Bring it on Judge but remember many good men have failed where you are about to venture.

Yet another bomb that BT from mmm and now AW would be proud of concerns some junior monkey business down at millionaires row that has seen loss of points, loss of finals position and the resignation from Congress of a millionaire associate.Watergate has nothing on this big one.

the BCF will be well represented in the finals action with Vinnie, oasis Bott oasisless Bott,Burger representing only those he knows with photos, biggie Phelan although I hope we haven't scared him off by revealing him,our very own B who will take the long stick to the jellies,Merl's very own Cluden, the gas bottles, the Wiggles may play the national anthem before the game, etc there will be a cast of thousands before many of you go into hibernation.

Archie my old friend ,even if we are supposed to be the 3 bears!!!

I have some devastating news I had to go to 4 supermarkets to restock the Horlicks as well as put the finishing touches on the Merlot Horlicks Trophy. It appears there has been a run on the Horlicks as players are buying it up to ensure a good night sleep before the finals, like you and have done for so many years.

I am still waiting for news from the normally reliable lady on the tram as to whether both the GG & JGG will face off at the home of cricket in a sentimental reunion of sorts. The judge's bunsen burner will not even come alight as the millionaires if all their paperwork is in order should shut the political door and cause a double disolution on the Highway patrol.

Keep digging your grave Merl.......you will be found out. Can't say i will spit in your face that is not right imo.......but keep up the immature name calling and instead of letting bygones be bygones because it will only come back to bite you.

Thats twice now, happy to keep things civil but ball is in your court.

Archie my old friend ,even if we are supposed to be the 3 bears!!!

Well Merl,
I've been away on a school camp with my daughters and look what happens to the BCF.
I'll keep it pretty simple for the legion on fans that seem to be cracking their intelligent brains over who' who on this site.
Gee wizz, there must be at least 3 or 4 who must not sleep at night, and last time i saw hamburger, he looked like he really does need some sleep, give the poker away, i say.
As our mate Clocker would say, take a look at the % of who goes under their real names on this site, and you will see that burg,um,brett, jimmy and everyone else are using nick names or whatevers, so whats the issue.
Speculate all you like, its just that some of the boys know each other and some don't.
I personally don't give a coin toss, so get over it boys, keep digging if you want but be careful on heresay and innuendo just from a legal point of view.
Moving on, congrats to all the finals teams and the winner of the tipping comp.
My spies tell me that there may be an injury cloud over JGG, was seen hobling last week and was rested last game.
Lets hope he fires in the finals, and will his long time mentor '' the champ '' keep his spot for the cut throat semi?
Merl, remember when we played together as brothers, they thought we were joined at the hip, its scary, but did you have the same preminition as me last wednesday night, or was it a dream over some double strength Horlicks and some quality Merlot.

Great post and that joined at the hip line reminds of the 70's discos when we were joined at the hip as we swept the dance floor!!

The new Wiggle has me petrified and I will be on the look out for the red car if it pulls up in front of the house.Again good luck in unravelling the mystery.

There are some big names in the umpires appointments this week with Barrack only snaring a One Dayer maybe his 2 day form and ball counting wasn't up to scratch.

The BCF's very own Uncle Mick has retained his position after an outstanding performance last week. Will no doubt be the senior partner with the mouth from the south.
Trigger and son got a gig together but a woman on the tram advised me that the son had been permanently relieved of umpiring duties but that minute must be lost with the tribunal red book of previous cases!!!

The geriatric former Gold Cap is partnered with a rising star who will know doubt learn all the tricks that the players will try as he invented most of them.

Good to see all games have a BBQ/Aqua blue to provide some impartial wisdom.Couldn't find the new Wiggle listed though!!

I will be back with the half or full bottle tomorrow night.

until next time......... keep searching....... vino sipping poster...Prof Merlot

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

I thought i might add a topic off discussion all be it controversial, please don't take it to heart it is just my opinion and i welcome feedback and other perspectives.

Q' WHERE DOES THE CMCA STAND IN IT'S LEVEL OF CRICKET COMPARED TO OTHER LEAGUES/ASSOCIATIONS?

To most on hear who know i have been away from the CMCA for 2 years now and have seen if the grass is greener on the other side.
When i was in the CMCA i always felt and believed the CMCA was right up there, but in my time away i have seen another perspective of local cricket.
Right across Melbourne there are leagues who are many steps ahead both on field and off field....really believe if some people lose the passion for cricket they should look for change.
Now i know how this sounds and i know you will all chose to pick this opinion rather then adhere to it, there would be many of cricketers in the CMCA who have gone stale for one reason or another and perhaps need a fresh change.
I would suggest take a leap into another association and see what it has to offer, quality oppositions, quality grounds (though the CMCA are on the improve) but right across the board alot of other league grounds are a brilliant picture to play at and there associations are well drilled and well run.
My time away has been a real eye opener which i have enjoyed the experience of and have been pleasantly surprised in the quality of cricket, quicker and more accurate bowlers, technically better batsman, the experience of playing turf, experience of playing against some big name players. Now this is not a exercise to prove anything or belittle one league it is just a opinion piece.
I wonder if anyone who post on here and involved with the CMCA has at some stage played in another league, i welcome other perspective.

Regards Brett :D
