City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

Presently there are 24 CMCA clubs, 12 VTCA clubs and 6 Subbies teams registered to play in the competition.
Well the first step is to recognize and acknowledge the problem. Most of the VTCA teams do have senior teams in the CMCA i.e Mckinnon, Brighton Districts, Beaumaris, Dingley, so they are bonafide members of the CMCA. The Sub District clubs are another issue. They only use our junior program to look after their own interests and then unleash Hatch to top up their lists. Secondly your suggestion about capping numbers is quite correct as too many clubs have abused this in the past. Thirdly, the clubs and the Executive have to make a decision about whether clubs without juniors are feasible and whether certain clubs should be encouraged to look at mergers?. All clubs would have two seasons to implement a junior program inclusive of a Milo program. There are four clubs that are outside of the zone ie Aspi-Edi, Chelsea Heights, Melbourne Wanderers and Shamrock that would be exempt for logistical reasons or because they already have juniors in another competition.

Finally tell the Sub District clubs to form their own competition. Not wanted. In fact I still cannot see why the competition even exists. It is an anachronism. They should merge with the VTCA and have a second tier competition which reflects the times and areas where the game is developing.

Jimmy, Sugar & Burgermeister,

Dream on all of you as you are getting closer to Antartica than the Sun.

Jimmy your blossoming media career is getting in the way of logical thinking and I repeat just because I support a reduce number of teams in each section doesn't necessarily mean you can label me as 1 2 or 3 of your prime suspects. There is a whole world out there who can suggest many improvements and the time piece makes me laugh again when he thinks congress take off their club hats as they enter the Congress room.he has been drinking too many red wines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Burgermeister you have been trying for two years to unearth old Merl and even begged him to reveal himself by the way of a private message and a promise not to tell.I suggest you work on your batting and knowledge of when a boundary is a boundary or not.I dare say you will never find out who Merl is as I am too smart for you and Archie is under instructions should I pass from this life at some time in the future to put you all out of your misery and let you know who the old boy who thinks 10 is not just for Bo Derek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Also has your self imposed ban ended and how are you going to control the walking time bomb down at the Rockers this season???????????????????????????????????????????

Speaking of Archie he is enconsed in the sub continent to partake of a bit of world cup action and may have to get his hands on a padded mail bag to send the Father christmas finals trophy back to the land of Oz.Also he said to let you all know that he has moved on from the trivialities of the BCF and is focussing on more important things in his life.

Adam you are smarter than the average bear so don't lower your impeccably high Long Room standards to the photographer and Big Macs level as you have previously stated you don't really care who the old boy is,as you are just in it for a bit of banter something you and the judge do so well on youtube and your sparodic BCF appearances!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is still an APB out for Capt grumpy to leave the book shop and instoll us with some of his wisdom but a bit like the ashes he has gone missing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Merlot over and out

Thought the same thing when i read it to Jimmy!

Bobby Dazzler Tips Rd 11
Golfers - Good side, dropped a couple of games early i would have expected them to win. Showed last week with a tie against the billionaires that they are the real deal but unfortunately for them will miss March action this year.

Carnegie Sth - Another decent team that looks like it might finsih just outside the four. Were to go for my boys when we played them!

Wash Park - Expect WP to get the chocolates as they begin their assault on Quiney shield. Le Page could be a bit stiff and miss out, was a big game (for both clubs) against us last week.

Wanderers - Cant tip against us...

Billionaires - Will have to settle for 2nd spot after the tie against the golfers last week.

West Bent - This is mean that the 4 stay unchanged

Merlot, as you know I enjoy the mystery more than most... the BCF would be poorer with your identity exposed.

Bunter... BUCC are definitely living under the premise "you have to spend money to make money".

Latest edition of Bentleigh ANA Cricket Show available on www.bentleighana.com, with some behind the scenes footage at the AB Medal... which evolves into drunken garbage. Entertaining noentheless.

My tips are purely wishful thinking... tipping that all our rivals for finals spots in Longy lose (need massive % gains too), also wishing that Washington Park go all the way which would prevent either of our clubs going down to Quiney.

The Mystery that is Merl?????????????????????????????

Every Longmuir match bar ANA vs. Union washed out? The strange weather continues... Looks like its been an interesting round across the grades.

Shame one of your bats in E Grade had the nerve to stand his ground after an obvious caught behind and put the heat on his teammate umpiring to make the decision - which he failed to do. Fair play to the bloke umpiring cos he may not have been sure after seeing his "mate" wouldn't walk, but as a spectator it was quite blatant and a shit effort from the bloke batting. On a positive note, the fella who made a ton batted very well and deserved the triple figures. Carried his bat the whole innings and got his century off the 3rd last ball of the day.

100% correct Mick. If people took responsibility and walked then you wouldn't have an issue with lack of umpires. Yep I understand some will say that they copped some crap decisions, but when you clearly hit the ball then if you have any self respect you should walk. I can understand LBW'S as not even the umpires know the rules. I presume that none of the results from the weekend stand where no more than 50% of the games proceeded in any grade?

Exactly Clocker. It's extremely frustrating as a cricketer when these things happen. You can almost pin point the reason why the bloke didn't walk. It was late in the day, they had a decent total, but would've been hoping to press on and the player in question (who by looking at mycricket apepars to be their captain) was starting to hit boundaries consistently. It should never be left to a teammate to give you out in that situation. I understand if a paid umpire is forced to make the decision cos it's their job to, but putting the acid on your teammates is a very ordinary act indeed.
As for your query on the results from the weekend, is it a rule or does that rule only pertain to incomplete rounds - i.e. where there is no result in more than 50% of games?

Brave of you Mick to come on here and essentially accuse us of cheating. I was playing on Saturday for Elwood and I can't recall the specific incident. I think our skipper had a caught behind decision shout against him turned down. (I was neither the batter or umpire).

Anyhow, you guys thought it was out, our umpire didn't and our batsman didn't walk (regardless if he hit it or not apparently).

I think it's a little rich to come on here and accuse Elwood of this. Your club had about 4 sub fielders coming on and off the field every five overs, and, as one of your boys said when we were trying to figure out who was on the team sheets, "it is only E grade after all."

I have tremendous respect for you mate after everything you did for the floods fundraiser -- but it's a pretty low blow. If I came on here every Saturday and moaned about all the bad calls I thought we copped every week this thread would be 139 -- not 39 -- pages long.

Funnily enough -- I completely agree with both you and Clocker on this. I will have a talk to the boys and find out more on what happened. I think every club should honour the spirit of the game -- but we all know this doesn't happen enough.

It has to come from the hierarchy of each club to promote and enforce that the game is played in the correct manner -- and Elwood certainly subscribes to that.

P.S. First time I have played at Highett West and Peterson Oval is a lovely ground to play on. And I thought your club was very welcoming and put on a good spread too.

My understanding is that the results stand as Mick said that its only for rounds not per each week, and I spoke to one of the guys off the CMCA committee out our game on Sat and he confirmed that
