Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

I have heard ESBC have at least 4 to bring back, and Bentleigh had 22 senior players missing for round 1.
Atleast 4 from the first, no doubt they were disappointed about Saturday but with some good inclusions they will bounce back this week.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Aside from all this bullsh.it, there were some good results on the weekend. Looks like it could be a fairly even year - East Sandy aside.

After playing Edi/Asp on the weekend I think they made the right decision to stay down. Some good cricketers in the group, but I couldn't see them winning a game in Longy. A few young kids that would gain nothing from being the whipping boys.....

Not wrong Mick. Washups started thinking about the after game cocktail party and forgot to get the job done.Good win by the machine.
A couple of heart murmurs at ANA but they got over the line.A very good win and if they can play to their ability should set up a cracker of a game against East Sandy.
ANA is the only team to have knocked out East in the past decade. Just wonder whether Union has let another 12 point game slip like they did last season against the Wash ups? Elwood will cause some indigestion especially if their two guns make consistent scores.Carnegie South nearly pinched it.Still a lot of work required at the Ommies. Not sure what happened at Hampton Central, but the bowling and fielding must have been red hot. 140 in a day is pretty boring by any standard. Uniting will bounce back. They are not going to be the only side that gets mauled this season by E/S.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

good to see union picked the wrong captain, if delac had any go in him he'd be the one making 80 or so, and not leaving it up to the best player in comp last year, the one they dropped as skip. bad decsion. con should have left, at least he would not have had to put with a self indulgent cricketer who makes big scores when it don't count. unlce mick don't tell us who should or who shouldn't make the step to longy, you only had one year at it, what would you know? stick to playing with the team that will be finishing last! should of stayed a longy player! uniting can't come back from that, they'll finish bottom range.

Learn how to write you fool.

Absolutely pumped for another ripping year in the CMCA. Hope there is some good contests and a tight finish at the end of the year.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

I don't think we can read too much into Round 1 results. As has been mentioned, both East Sandy and Bentleigh Uniting were missing a number of senior players. These two are not alone and we certainly didn't have anywhere near our full strength side. Obviously would have prefered a win first up but i'm warning all of you out there to watch out for us. We will be back and.....

WINNING THE WASHINGTON WAY!

Is that time of the month for you Captain? If anyone is qualified to comment it is Mick. The fact that he was good enough to be selcted and then participate in a GF win is more than enough. You can't be wrong with an opinion, everyone's got one.:D

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Quick to hang the Moose out to dry there, Captain. Personally, I'd reserve judgement until after a until later in the season. Sending a side in first up, seems like a rookie mistake on Delac's behalf (especially with their batting line up), but he's a young man and will learn from this.

As for my opinion on Edi/Asp it is simply that.... my opinion. I had a good chat with their boys after the game and they explained they weren't prepared to make the step up and get flogged every week as they had the season before and with a couple of their better players moving on I believe it's a decision that is justified. They'll win more games than they lose in Woolnough, but I seriously doubt whether they'd be competitive in Longmuir. Having said that, there were a couple of kids that showed some promise.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Even though Pothitos top scored with 84no, Delac didn't exactly fail as a leader. He made 62, and kept Union in the game up to tea, until he went out in rough circumstances, when he smashed one into Stuey Campbell's guts at silly point. It popped straight up for Stuey to complete an easy one in the end, and then it was tea time.

There is no doubt that Union's strength is their batting. They are more likely to hold their nerve than their bowlers at crunch time, so you can't go too hard on them. Obviously this would have been part of Ivan's thinking.

They were 6/302 with 5 overs to go, and should have won if not for sheer persistence by the ANA boys.

That's not that unlucky. If you can't manage to miss those fat things then you're not seeing them too well.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

True - considering there are a few similarly shaped blokes at Union who could have provided enough practice.

Yeah just you wait and see buddy! We'll be the ones laughing deep in March next year with the Longy shield at Shark Park where it should be. One ordinary effort first up means nothing. Can't wait to come across you during the year and show you who's boss!

WINNING WITH WAY TOO MUCH WISDOM AT WASHINGTON!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

That has got to be the work of a uni student with too much time on their hands or some young punk doing his club no favours.

How will the Pies fare against the boys from the zoo this week, Sugar? Have all animals returned to their cage this week, thserious? Or are they still a few short of their best line up? I'd expect Cracker would slot back in at the expense of Toddy Porter. Anyone else due back?

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

i'm surprised the ball popped out after hitting stuey"lard ass"campbell in the guts, he fit in well at mackie with the rest of the fat boys there, pitty he left.
Manders went off to district cricket, doubt he'll be back for sandy. maybe martyn will turn up or duddy.
looking forward to the match ana v sandy. sure to be ripper.
Best spinner in comp LD or LEE. LD for me.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Manders wouldn't be a bad guess. He loves his keyboard. On him, I spoke to him last week and he's already "homesick" and contemplating a return to East. I'd be very surprised if Duddy plays this game or the next. Martyn is out til at least Xmas - perhaps waiting to see whether this infamous bandwagon is worth jumping on.

LD has the score on the board for mine. Suspect action or not, he's proven himself time & time again. Not sure too many could've turned the semi final the way he did last season.
