looks like you have done your reseach super6 corp made 95 against uniting yesterday out of sandys 250. uniting have no hope nxt week i wouldnt think.
ana dominated unions poor bowling attack with 330..they have never had any decent bowlers and will struggle this year. hampton central have have always been battlers with the bat and made 140. only hope is if may comes out and bores wests with 36 overs of slow crap.

carnegie and omega both look like they are trying to lose which is y they both usually mange to do so. le page only got 222 due to the u/14 sh!t that elwood were serving up.

and as for wash ups and mackie.. who cares! neither will be there when it counts

That's right mate. Seen the kid around the traps for the last 5-6 years. Quality bat who is well above CMCA any bowler the CMCA has to offer. Just never been able to put in the big scores as he always gets himself out. Always making 30's, 40's and 50's. Watch out for his partner in crime Mark "i take my girlfriend with me around on footy trips" Devereaux next round to be back in action and get amongst the runs.

Bentleigh ANA recruit sets tone with stunning debut
sportCricket06 Oct 08 @ 10:45am by Adam Kain
BENTLEIGH ANA recruit Matt Merifield announced his arrival to the CMCA with a sparkling innings of 60 as his team went on a run feast on the opening day of the season.

ANA came in with 8/330 against against Brighton Union after being sent in by new Union captain Ivan Delac.

It wasn’t a good day for Delac as he dropped Merifield on 10, and then saw the former Cheltenham captain Merifield plunder the bowlers to all ends of the ground.

He was well supported initially by Anthony Gill (26) and 2007/08 Longmuir Shield batsman of the year Adam Mikkelsen (30), before Joel Gebert (45) and ANA captain Stuart Campbell (55) kept the momentum going after tea. The athletic Brad Dolman (56) finished off proceedings before being caught on the boundary on the last ball of the day, but not before setting Union a mammoth target. ANA must not be complacent, however, as Brighton Union has one of the most intimidating batting line-ups in the competition.

After losing gun all-rounder Stacy Brown to Premier Cricket this season, West Bentleigh performed well to dismiss last year’s runners-up Hampton Central for 140.

Stalwart Craig Amoore top scored for the Two-Blues with 39, while Carl Reid took 6/35 for the Westers and Elliott Box 4/37.

West Bentleigh survived a torrid patch overnight and is 0/2 in reply.

With only four players from last year’s grand final side playing in round one, East Sandringham was still able to amass 6/252 against Bentleigh Uniting.

Danny Corp scored a well-executed 94.

He was supported by the Heath McLeod (41) and the evergreen Kim Pitt (42).

After losing several players in the off-season, including former captain Brett Ernst, Bentleigh Uniting is going to have to perform at its best to knock off last year’s premiers for the six points.

Le Page Park had a good day, finishing at 8/222 against Elwood, with long-time servant Tim O’Meara scoring an excellent 81.

Marshall Bunting bowled well for the Woods, taking 4/63.

Carnegie South worked hard to be all out for 180 against last year’s wooden spooner Omega.

Skipper Scott Handley led from the front with 57, while Mark “Nuts” McSwain and Scott Adams both assisted with 35 apiece.

Young left-hander Chris Clements bowled well for the Ommies, taking 4/41.

In the final game of Longmuir Shield, regular finalist Mackie scored 8/205 against Washington Park.

Wicketkeeper Brendan Clark finished 60 not out, while receiving good support from Craig Park (47) and Dean Bott (42).

After question marks were raised over Washington Park’s bowling attack in the pre-season, Shaun Fisher (4/40) and Daniel Donati (3/45) answered a few questions.

In Woolnough Shield, reigning premier Aspendale Edithvale RSL started the season in fine fashion, making 8/297 against Highett West.

After winning the Longmuir Shield last season at East Sandy, prodigal son Mick Flahive was unable to stem the flow for Highett West, as Matty Tonkin (81 not out), Joel Parker (81) and Richard Bellamy did the damage for Edi-Asp.

Bentleigh ANA grinded its way to 9/173 against the promoted Brighton Union, with teenager James Fergus (37) top scoring for ANA and Andrew Vaughan (5/20) doing the job for Union.

After a heavily-promoted retirement, Con Gorozidis has done a John Farnham and decided to play “one last time”.

Brighton District was all out for 126 with Moorabbin West 0/7 in reply.

Just a another one to add to this list, and keep an eye on in the future,... Adam Mathieson from the Wash Ups, the left arm 16 year old opening bowler from 2 years ago, is in the Vic U/19 squad with another season to go and starting in the 2s at St Kilda. Wish him and Chris Williamson (Prahran) all the best also...

Shark man,

My appologies, i actually saw Adam's first Longy game and was very impressed back then when he was a 15 year old.
I haven't seen enough of of Willamson, but if he's got his fathers attitude, '' good and bad '' then he should go alright.
Best of luck to both lads.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Looks like we have a new 'Eddie McEverywhere', word is Sug will also be on the CMCA on sunday mornings with Robbo and Mark 'Robertson' Missen. Along with his Youtube contract and fitting in time being ANA's Secretary.

Glad the Leader has ditched Luke Holmesby for a man that has a better vocab though.

Yes, Sugar seems to be on the media hunt, lets hope these other distractions do not affect his cricket.
Can you let us know how you went on Saturday Sug? Maybe a ball by ball description.
I'm sure you'll find that '' the champ '' has indicated that he will help out if available, and if there are no work committments, he will play some more games in the twos.
Look out, there will be some Wooly bowlers that will cop the wrath on Big Hurly, it may start this Saturday.

Arch - that's an interesting concept with the balls. I would've thought if it ain't broke don't fix it, but I'm all for recognising significant contributions to the competition as they've done with Mssrs Champion and Park. Let's just hope they get it right before too long.

Agreed Uncle, i'm not sure what the comp is trying to achieve.
It may just be down to bigger dollars in the sponsorship, but if the product isn't as good, then you're actually going backwards.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

On the tpoic of district cricket, has there ever been any talk of recognising the junior club of any individual to play a first grade game? I know the AFL makes a donation to the junior club, surely there must be some reward for pushing your young talent to higher levels. Not necessarily financial, but maybe some specialist coaching for the senior players at that club. The Sharks have historically run a very good junior program only to be pillaged by St Kilda and other clubs as we start to reap the rewards... With 5 ex-players representing first or second XI district cricket at the moment, they are big shoes to fill!!

Agree there should be some financial reward. With all the money CA makes and with very little competition against them with other sports, I am sure there could be an amount allocated.By the way are you looking for a pat on the back or a trophy or something? I mean you have Leon Pickering playing for you who played at the top level as did your current coach and Tony Verrall who is a Level 2 coach. Are you saying these three do not provide enough specialist coaching? For the money you are forking out I would hope so.......Just accept that there will always be a number of kids that will play junior and move on.One day they may return, but usually they don't if they play for any stretch at District level. They have learnt from a very young age that it is better to chase the almighty dollar.

Gday Saul, i am completely confused like everyone else on the topic. To see a team with 6 wins make the four ahead of a team with 7 is a Joke.

To CMCA nerd,

If you are going to make calls like that put your name out there ao when you meat damien through out the year we can see what your made of.
I don't know Phealan well enough to comment, but the rest of the boys seem fine to be at ESBC.
My only remark would be they at times they can be tardy when it comes to having a Beer with the opposition after the game, besides that i think there a good bunch of lads.
As regards to Mick, a bit unfair he has been childhood mates with the Dallas, Duddy, Bennet & co. And has played since junior cricket at West.
I don't even think his club West would begrudge him for leaving for 1 season to ESBC.
Everyone is quick to jump on players back about loyalty, but it does not seem to go the other way. Like in a work place people do need a change with a chance to refresh, i am sure Mick would be first to say the season away was a good exp to test himself out at the top and develop.

another person who no longer plays longy sticking his nose in where it doesnt belong! u never seemed to be too fond of the esbc blokes wen u were playing against them.. no problems with the big buddha, lets see if he can back up his big mouth for once. all the best with ur crappy turf comp this week

and mick all i can say is that u must be swimming in a goldfish bowl for u to b a big fish

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

I said may be. Never asserted I was. Merely responding to the previous post.

Anyway, ignore him, Ernst. It's the best way to dispose of these younglings that have been neglected by their mothers. Probably filthy cos her's was the only bit of tit he'll ever see.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Nerd,

From one weak suck to another, although i dont take pot shots i refuse to 'come out' at this stage. I think Uncle might have had an agreement with LD in relation to playing footy together with a deal that they'd also play cricket together so I dont see what your prob is and you obviously have no idea as to the reasons behind the switch to esbcc and then back to hwcc. If you have a look at the results from 07/08 u'll find that the little fishy did pretty well in the big pond.

Nothing really unexpected from week 1 in the longy. Well done to my ANA buddies for posting the highest score of the day and i reckon that they have six bikkies in the bag because although 330 is well gettable with Union's lineup, the ANA boys will comfortably choke them and defend the score.

Other than 'Joey' Corp, who were the other 'new' players to jump aboard the bandwagon ???

Obviously trying to get a rise of people herre but just thought i'd correct you here anyway for other readers.
Corp has played junior cricket at Sandy since Under 12's and played senior cricket since he was 14 and playing his first game in the 1's at around 16-17. Has played in 3-4 of the 6 flags missing a couple due to injury and didn't play last year as he was overseas. So go and get your facts straight you Hampton Central knob!

i dont get that either? was that in reference to mick jumping on the bandwagon.. what bandwagon?

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Go back earlier on in the thread nerd and you will see what he's talking about. He was trying to claim that people jump on the bandwagon down at Sandy like Brendon Smith in 05/06, even though he played in the first of the 6 flags in 7 years back in 01/02. A two blue knob that doesn't have much of a clue.

Yeah it looks like we just cant say anything about esbcc without thsome thspathstic idiot going off and having a good old teary.

I heard that the ferels at the zoo had only 4 players from the 07/08 GF side playing against United. I was just wondering who the 'new' 7 players were? I guess 2 of them were Joey and Cheeks so who were the other 5 to jump aboard the bandwagon ???

Also wondering if anyone can help out with where the match scores are, the site where they used to be seems to be closed ??

And yes nerd that was sort of what i was saying. Just rock on down to the zoo for a nice easy flag or two.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

ANA Hater - the 'scores' tab on the CMCA website still direct towards the old Crickt Victoria website, which has been replaced with the National 'MyCricket' site. This is where all club representatives submit their teams & scores each week. Due to the fact that round one hasn't finished, I would imagine there is no urgency until this weekend to make the necessary changes.

For round one scores, just go to the 'weekly highlights' tab, and scroll past my amateurish write-up, and you will then see the summary of scores & highlights.

At this stage John Kelly is doing this on his own, with little support, so give him a break... he's got enough on his plate, but he'll get there eventually. Until then, you just have to be patient, although if you would like to assist John in this area, I'm sure he will appreciate your email.
