What a ridiculous statement to make. They lost a game about this time last season and won the flag quite convincingly. Your best served sitting around you own clubrooms admiring the lack of flags for a few more weeks before writing them off.

Spot on Mick. It will be a good game on the weekend.East Sandy has not beaten Mackie in the past two seasons so they will be keen to turn that around. At least the ground will be in good knick, best surface in the comp at the moment.

I reckon Cowboy's an alias that we both know Mick trying to get a rise out of us. This is probably what he wants someone to bring up but i'll still do it anyway. As Biggy was dismissed on Saturday, the send off call he copped from the West Bentleigh boys was "Go and sit amongst all your flags!". With pleasure you stupid fools. Have a think about that send off. Never expected the baby blue boys to be too bright but that is up there with one of the worst, and dumbest send-offs ever.

Cowboy some real stupid remarks champ need to lift your game. your remarks.

Possibly big fish in little ponds???

Interestingly most of Unitings 1's would be happy with a batting average of 4.6 or 8 and the bowlers would be wrapped if their averages were anything around 50!

I think surridge's 10 wkts in 2 games at 10 would get him in any side in the comp, and Coles 8 in 2 games @ 15 might be handy you clown.

And P.Manakis is 40 and you could hardly say he has ever been a big fish in a small pond, when you can come up with some creditable entries into this forum then someone might support you.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Go easy Brett - it's not that outrageous a comment.

When you have blokes who could easily play Longmuir Shield dominating in C Grade, then its fair enough to ask the question why Uniting's 2's aren't in Woolnough Shield in 2008/09?

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

And you can add to that the fact that none of Uniting's 1st XI bats have produced any noteworthy performances.

What about best send-offs or sledges ever heard in CMCA?

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

As far as ANA is concerned, the best sledge comes from Brad (an overweight lower grade cricketer, with a very sharp mind), who was batting in the middle when he played and missed a ball bowled by an aggressive pace bowler of Mediterranean descent.

Due to the missed shot, the bowler decided to sledge Brad, with a lack of intellect or creativity in calling him a fat lady parts, to which Brad replied "Mate, you keep cooking the potato cakes, and I'll keep on eating them."

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

what about the sharks form? finney in the runs, donati runs and wkts and pickering to come back in. Bit early to make predictions but maybe this could be the year they finally stand up and become a contender.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

the sharks are not in contention. they have two maybe 3 bats. thier number 3 bat refuses to make runs and their lower order is nothing special. the contenders are
mackie
east sandy
brighton union
elwood
to say sharks might be a chance is a joke!!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

When george Goro returned and made those 3 scores with that massive double ton, we played them after he made a ton and was the hot man around.
At Hurlingham he walked to the crease to face Simon Surridge, first pill Simon let rip with a thunderbolt bouncer that followed George which he just manage to sway out of the way.
Simon then said "THE HONEY MOON IS OVER SON".
Then next ball George's 2nd ball Simon let with a quick inswinging yorker that took middle stump 2nd ball duck.
Simon just danced towards us behind the stumps pointing to the shed.

Masterful work.

a mate told me the best cmca send off!
it was against Mackie, 30degree day, their opening batsmen Dale Park nicknamed the "ICEMAN".
after 5 overs of the non striking batsman saying "good stuff iceman" Dale eventually went out, when a sub fielder went up to him and said, "THE ICEMAN HAS MELTED"
good stuff by a sub fielder.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

lol Johnny.

One day against Ana we had Steve Harris playing for us who is a fringe player, and was a new comer to longmuir.

Steve was sledging Cedric Jansz while he batted and when CEDS was dismissed Harry gave Cedric a send off, Cedris replied "WHO ARE YOU AN EXTRA".
We all wet ourselves with laughter in the field and what Cedric said was spot on, great call by an experience campaigner.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

I was opening the batting one day and my partner was one of the quickest witted people I have ever known, and a gun bat to boot.

The bowler beat the bat convincingly and the bowler proceeded to get stuck into the batsmen, the batsmen simply replied with “get back and bowl f*ck wit” to which the bowler said “blow me buddy” (A highly intelligent response) within a millisecond the batsmen replied with “mate I would but I want a main meal not an entrée”

Not only was I pissing myself at the non strikers end but the whole cordon was hysterical!!!!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Carl Hoepfner was a stodgy opening bat with not many shots but was getting a spray from a StK City opening bowler but when he dropped one in short Carl let rip with a rare hook shot which he creamed over the fence. The bowler stood mid pitch and growled "you didn't even see that" and Carl answered "yes I did, it's over there in that house".

They asked for the best send off you gimp. East Sandy are no good this week. We've got their measure. Little birdie said they were barracking for Hampton last year in the preliminary final. You don't need Einstein to tell you why.

May the joke be on you! only early days and they may yet stumble as they usually do however early signs are positive and im predicting a top 4 finish

How's that not a send off?
I think that was said by Steve "Fluffy" Longinides. I think.
Another ripper East Sandy v. Mackie call (not a send off) was when playing at Duncan Street and Mackie were in a bit of strife, a Sandy supporter grabbed a toolbox, or toolbelt or something from his car and yelled out from the sidelines "I'm hear to fix the Machine". Good call.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

another solid victory for us boys and good performance from the top order again. hopefully we can keep this ball rolling for as long as possible. it will be interesting to see what happens if our top order fails considering our bottom half haven't had a hit yet.
my tips for this week are:
- west bentleigh to have "an east sandy victory hangover" and fail this week against ana.
- brighton union to do it easy against centrals.
- carnegie south in the battle of the bottom.
- mackie to make it two losses in a row for the boys club.
- washington park will make too many for uniting.
- and hopefully us over omega.

cheers boys and good luck!!
