where was the article? who are the strong players in it? i've been told its quite a young side?

Page 3 or 5 of todays Herald-Sun

Might be a youngish side but Bunting, Manders, Backman are quality, Nicholson good keeper/bat, Briody solid opener, McConville performed really well in this competition 2 years ago and Small looks a handy bowler too. They'll go alright.

Tommy Backman, everyone should no him 470 runs last year.
Marshall Bunting, has already hit 220 runs this year and few wickets.

this will probably be the 21's side for the next 3-4 years.
average age is around 17-18.

Don't exclude yourself, "Harry". Sounds like we should have good representation. Been a while since the 21's team has been competitive in this thing.

Does anyone know whether the line-up is listed in batting order? I know Backman and Bunting have been opening...

i reckon as listed could be correct.

You guys are a young side, stick together for a few years and you will have some real fun and perform really well.
I remember our under 21's side we had a good team and we played together for 3 years.

Ernst
Krotofil
D.Casey
Holmes
A.Reid
L.Dallas
A.Duddy
B.Bennet
M.Flahive
NG

Pretty handy side, we made the grand final 1 year and got well beaten and i remember B.Bennet who dominated for us all year and scared attacks with his pace played teh GF with a busted foot rocked up in cructhes and batted.
Uncle Mick will agree it was fun.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

For a start you've left off Cheeks, Flynny and Brudar who were all a part of those years - Bobby Quiney for one of them as well.
And secondly, the boys will attest to some solid drinking sessions after the game to which you weren't a part of. Those were the good times big fella. Thanks to supercoach Roids Park and old man Jumbo, we did Mackie over for a fair few beers and smashed them down til all hours on numerous occasions while you toddled off home with the old man and Jono Guttman. Poor form from the Uniting contingent.
Thirdly, I wonder how "Buddha's Cave" is going these days....???

NERDS! Don't you have better things to do?
I can appreciate playing in the side for the only reasons Uncle Mick has just mentioned.

Yes Flynny and Brudar, i don't think i played with cheeks and i am three years younger then you guys so yes when i was 17 & 18 and you guys were 20 & 21 i was just the young buck who could only get home via Johnno as i lived 30 mins away and you guys were locals.
Tho i do remember British bulldogs and Buddha necking 2 jugs of beer in a row and myself vomiting into my 3rd shot gun in a row.
I mean really at 17/18 how could i keep up with Buddha and Brudar and co.
Some might say it was the only time i used my brains in my teens lol

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

I know of a few Big Dogs down at Sandy that went on cricket trips when they were 15-16 with the likes of Dallas, Bennett, Cheeks, Duddy and co. when they were around 21-22. Not to mention some of the older boys in Pitt, Mannix, P. Bennett and Ross. Age is only a number Ernst!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

ernst stop trying to tell everyone how good u were by being only 18 and playing in the 21's side. u dont have to b much good to play in those 21s sides no1 really give a toss about them

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

It was not about pumping myself up you clown, read my origional post on the topic.
I only followed with a response to Uncle Mick.

Well if drinking when you 17 & 18 non stop was cool, well then i was no Miles Davis.
I mean we can't all be Elvis Preseley's like Allan Brudar.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Brett, can you stop trying to find ways to talk about your spectacular career!
You were a good bat and ordinary keeper. You decided to leave the CMCA so how about you leave the CMCA forum. I'm sick of reading your crap!

That's debatable!!!!!
I'd say ordinary bat that battled hard and very ordinary keeper.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Well if you really are the big red fire engine (bottsy) what has been your contribution to this forum.
I was just pointing out to young Manders if they stick together for a few years they will enjoy themselves and play some good cricket.
I will be the first to admit i am no superstar, just an honest cricket who works hard.
I am not a clean hitter like Krotofil or have an eye like Peter Manakis i just try to play proper cricket shots and hope only a good nut gets me out which is not always the case, if you don't like the forum where it is an place for open discussion then piss off.

Ps your no superstar

Most guys debut in 21s around 18, there is nothing good or special about what i did.
They struggled to have a full side and i put my hand up to help out the league at the time, you can moan and groan and pot me as much as you like but when ever the CMCA needed someone i always was there to help out rain hail shine or 40degrees.
I played in plenty of games when we would have 11 or 12 on the Thursday and come the Sunday we had 7 players some blokes where just piss weak.
Not like some other blokes who didn't give a stuff, which is a real shame if the CMCA played there best side then that would be a game of cricket well worth watching.

I've never claimed myself as a superstar unlike yourself who somehow brings himself into every conversation. Stop living in the past.

Yes you are battler!

Back to my point,
YOU ARE NO LONGER IN THE CMCA,
so how about you piss off!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

BIG CRICKET FORUM you gala it's open for all, if you want private interaction get onto face book or get an email address otherwise live with it i'm not going any where.
Seriously did you think that just because you asked me to piss off that i would. Grow some brains Bottsy and stop crying over spilt sauce.

And back up your remarks and find 1 post for me where i have said "I AM A SUPERSTAR"

I come on here for a laugh, a read and to talk crap like the rest of us i try not to take it to serious and try to understand people have there own views on ce:Drtain topics.
But everyone has a right of say or reply so for your own sanity just move on and if you don't like what i have to say ignore it or form your own view.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

By the way i have heard plenty of story's about you paradeing around the old finn bars saying how good and quick you reckon you were or are.
So don't come pointing your finger at me for claiming to do what you do all the time.
I have a real cracker of a story which i almost wet myself once i heard it from a few boys on a Sunday sip who play against you and have had a run in with you.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

It is starting to get a bit vicious fellas. Not actually playing cricket just talking some s***.Just enjoy it.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

The 1995/96 CMCA Under 21 team won the Neil Wright Shield, and was an impressive list with many players who sadly don't play in the CMCA for much longer.

Stephen Peake - Hampton United (captain)
Gary Harvey - Bentleigh ANA (vice captain)
Matt Dwyer - Washington Park
Stuart Campbell - Mackie
Michael Major - Bentleigh Uniting
Craig Park - Mackie
Brendan Clarke - Mackie
Ryan Pereira - West Bentleigh
Ben Clark - West Bentleigh
Jonathan Guttman - Bentleigh Uniting
Simon Meredith - Omega
Adam Stone - Bentleigh ANA
Adam Kain - Bentleigh ANA
Peter Morrell - Bentleigh Uniting

We made the grand final, and were joint winners after a tie in the grand final. I recall Stephen Peake questioning the 'spirit' of the game in one mankad decision. Either way, it was good just to be part of an impressive squad, and pick up a premiership medallion.

Peakey & Harvey were both explosive batsmen, who could have done anything in Longmuir Shield had they stayed. Pereira was one of the most feared young bowlers, as was Meredith, who chose to pursue a career in AFL umpiring. Michael Major was a polished batsman who moved on to weekends in real estate, while Ben Clark could have been one of the competition's premier off-spinners.
