Jamster,

As much as Micky can complain about an LBW decision, the answer is who knows? If the keeper had caught Jason Sherlock early, then it would have been game over.

LBW decisions are always contentious. Sometimes the decision depends on the umpire, sometimes umpires make mistakes. Irrespective, an umpire stands there to perform across both innings, so both teams get an chance to create opportunities or get some rub of the green.

Complaining about umpires are irrelevant when there are opportunities such as catches to win the game without relying on them. We dropped a few, as did Highett West. Either side could have made the difference by taking them.
Absolutely correct.Sometimes forgotton in the emotion.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

I think you've missed my point. The umpire in question I believe to be a highly competent individual. To give an explanation that he didn't see it is unacceptable at this level. It's potentially ended our season. I can cop the old, "pitched outside leg" or "the batsman was forward" excuses, but not seeing it means he wasn't paying attention at a point that was pivotal to the contest.
BUT as I said earlier, there are many other contributing factors that we as a side are responsible for which has left us in a precarious position for challenging a finals berth.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Thank you MM for your support, i think everyone can be guilty of talking about themselves in some form has they post opinions and views from there past exp and perspectives.
I don't post under any Alias like some and my name is here clear and easy to see for all, i have also got involved with some good topics such has Best 11 in the last decade which was a good topic that had many views.
I don't come on here to bag people, just to enjoy the conversations and banter.
If i have upset you Michael or Bottsy well i apoligies, from know on i won't direct any of my post towards either of you in return you to be so kind not to get involved.
Good luck for the rest of the year.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

wat about the LB desision i copped agenst west bentlee a few weeks ago. The ump told duds who was at tha other end dat if i had of cum forward he wouldnt have given it. shouldnt the fact that da ball was missing the stumps play a part in the desision....
it is just lik tha "direct hit cmca" rule. wen giving a run out disision, if it is a direct hit the umps neerly always giv it out. regarless of weather the playa was actuali out. worst umps in town.

and i'm gonna smoke everi1 in dat runnin race!!!!!!!!!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Whilst we are on LB's! I copped a doozy on the weekend! How far down the track do you need to be to create enough doubt in the Umpires mind?
Also, when bowling, and you ask why an appeal has been turned down and then receive the old "not sure what the ball was doing"! Apart from the fact it had bounced and gone straight on (and the fact I don't turn them anyway!)
I am sick of umpires saying that we are not sure where the ball is heading! It has bounced FFS! What else is it going to turn off? Air!!!!!
Maybe it's just the one umpire I have an issue with, or he has one with me!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Enough of the lbw talk. We bowlers get crucified more often than not these days. Umpires are far too happy to dismiss an appeal with pitched outside or coming forward.

So here we are.... Righto lads, Round 5.

Omega to cause an upset of sorts against ANA. For no particular reason than this is the most likely upset to occur for mine.

Union should make light work of Carnegie.

Ditto East Sandy of Le Page.

Match of the Round belongs to Elwood v Uniting. Brett's boys have bounced back from a 0-2 start and are sitting on the brink of the 4. A loss here will more than likely see them 9 points adrift and a battle with ANA who will also be looking to keep their finals flame flickering. Winning form is good form and Elwood's is better. Home side for mine.

Mackie and West Bentleigh will also be a corker. I'll favour the home side again in a close one.

If ever there was a case of chocolates to boiled lollies this would have to be it. Hampton Central to remain on 0 points with Washington having another 'Victory from the Velodrome' to keep them just off the pace.

In Woolnough, the Kookas will bounce back from 2 close losses to keep their faint finals hopes alive against Mark Bell United.

Aspendale to finally get their second 6 point result over Southside.

Kingston Heath will be too strong for Brighton District.

East Sandy to keep the momentum and reverse their Prelim Final result from earlier this year - even without father of 2.

Omega should get the chocolates against ANA in a close one.

Union to do it comfortably against Cluden who are coming off a 48 last week.

Greetings Gents & Bottsy.
If in the umps opinion there is some doubt then you can't give it out.You might not agree with the reasoning or the answer, but that is how it goes.
ANA will get over the line.Too much to lose.
Mackie will be keen to reverse previous trends.Have not beaten the West Stars in the past few years. Will be a cracker.
East Sandy should account for Le Page.
Brighton Union with 'Ivan the Great' will win easily.
Will give Hampton Central one more chance. Can't trust Washington with their form.
Elwood are flying and their batting is imposing.Have to tip them.
Kingston to defeat a very disappointing Brighton Districts.
Edi Aspy will win.
Omega -v-ANA will be a ripper. Will stick with the home team in a close one.
Union should get over Cluden.
East to get over the line but Westars are good at pulling out surprise results.
Good luck tomorrow to all playing and umpiring.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Quite a revelation came about y'day, Sugar. If the story told was whole and true, which I am quite confident is the case, then disappointing that measures weren't taken on ANA's part to expose the individual in question and a formal apology made. Perhaps an attempt to maintain this Collingwood appeal you've so generously labelled your club with...?

Some interesting results on the weekend. Mackie with a respectable score, but not one you'd be extremely confident of defending. Probably an each way bet at this point in the game.
Le Page have done themselves no harm, posting a handy total which probably should've been a lot higher from reports.
ANA should chase down 160 odd comfortably.
Washington Park & Union have probably made enough to be comfortable at he halfway mark, while Elwood's batting talents will be tested against one of the better attacks in Longmuir.

Our boys should get the job done chasing 134. Not a bad effort considering we put down 6 chances. Could realistically have had them out for around 50 when Bell & Dixon were both dropped in the space of 5 balls and the score at 4/23.
Aspendale's 246 should be too much for Southside.
Kingston Heath keep rolling along and should be confident of chasing a competitive 186 from Brighton Dist.
Match of the round is proving to be with Moorabbin West posting 247. East Sandy have mowed down 240 & 260 in consecutive games to get their season back on track and I reckon they've got the batting line up in this week to do it again.
Omega should chase down ANA's 161, but I wouldn't think it'll be all that easy.
And Cluden have struggled with the bat a bit, but I'm backing them in to chase down Union's 149.
Should the results go that way 2nd-5th will all go down and make things very interesting in Woolnough.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Mick - I wasn't at Omega on Sunday to share gossip & innuendo, so I've got no idea what you're on about.

If it's a legitimate 'concern', you've got my number.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Not for mine, bud. The individual with the concern addressed the matter at the time. No point digging up old war wounds on this forum, nor is it my place to involve myself. I have a feeling you'll hear about it from one of your own in the next few days.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Callum Rayner from Kingston Heath won the sprint from Keith Brown from Washington park.
A great turn up yesterday in easily the biggest day produced down at Omega.
Fantastic to see so many CMCA clubs support the day and a good time was had by all.
Great to see guys like Maysie and Wally Bennett hang around to the early hours of the morning too!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Any nudists in crash helmets, fire extinguisher episodes or stories of the like?

Run us through the pre-sprint antics of this Keith Brown character. And word around town is Dean Green prefers the outside rail.....

I must apologise on behalf of Washington Park for that bloke that represented us. He was a ring in that one of the boys knew cos they thought he would dominate. The deal was the club and him went half in the entry fee so if he won, they would also split the winnings. He's an absolute knob from all reports. I think he thought he was running in the Olympic trials, not a CMCA fun run. Anyway, it brought a smile to my face when i heard that he lost after all his pre-race warming up and stretching regime.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Is that you is it Mr. Brown?
Spare me! The kid that won it won by about 10 meters. And i think our runner copped the worst deal due to the false start. He was still standing there 3 seconds after everyone left. Oh well. As long as the dude with the Steve Moneghetti glasses didn't win!
