Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Uncle Mick

Where do I start with some many new rookies jumping on the forum, the word has got out, but sadly not to the oval office.

What I was trying to say but didn't get my point across was that the 2 piece ball made it harder to bat, therefore those I mentioned were better in my humble opinion as it was more difficult to bat , rather than today the 4 piece is the batsman's ball. The better bats also make it easier again re inforcing my point that it is easier today.

You again make an excellent point that the foreign legion look after each other so they have strength in numbers and can hide the older players who play the odd cameo good innings.

Behind the secenes you have better sources than mine but I suspect you are one of the BBQ mob given the detail you have provided us with.I took a little trip to Google as i wasn't sure of what Barrack's invective actually meant and I quote

'abusive language ,discourse that cast blame on somebody or something '

A very good and accurate description of Barrack.

Also some BBQ's have selective hearing as they are too worried about their points that go towards finals positions.Even if they did report the ineffective tribunal went against their own rules and failed to rub them out.I find it ironic that the tough stance they adopted this year has iron gloves missing a Grand Final and the reigning Brownlow medalist to miss if his side had made it.I did hear there was to be an appeal on one or both cases.

Is the Brownlow medal being held this week and would there be any chance of getting the details on the website.

Jimmy surely you have some influence to get the person/s responsible to lift there game.Alternatively Adam could provide some advise as it is not that difficult to do!

Any word on the venue for the umpires big night yet?I did venture on to the in effective website to check the records of previous longy G/F umpires but sadly came up empty handed. The big tip at 6 burger bourbons to 4 is that there will be two brand new umpires making it to the big dance for the first time!

I must apologise as when i was surfing the web I came across the fact that Hilary has now replaced Condelezza and will from now on be Barrack & Hilary
to upset those who do not like the code names.

The Ormond spy you seem to have the same problem as the other gold cap with the stuck key board but I suppose that comes from being based down that way in footy season.

I see on the CMCA's number one website guest book that the Gold park canteen remained firmly shut for the lowly D Grade match. Was it beneath them to provide a service even though they had no teams playing on the day.Given that ANA and the Golf club have large supporter bases it would seem the gold caps have already reached this year's budget surplus and do not need to look after the cricketing public.

With the lake mob and sharks drawn there in the C grade final they better pack some of Ham & cheeses goodies and a few Burger bourbons or it could be a long thirsty hungry day!Surely Barrack could issue a royal decree to look after the cricketing plebs.

Now to the Grand Final we had to have East vs West and no it is not a re enactment of the Berlin Wall , but the Gold caps vs the Sky blue caps at the home of cricket.Obviously Collo's mate was out voted this year and the big dance will be on the big ground.

Should be a good game with the cocky gold caps up against the lazarus mob who scrapped into the four at the last breath. Will have to wait to see who Adam put's the kiss of death on.The injured gold caps are well rested but the sky blues are not short on finals experience and are playing their best cricket at the business end of the year.

Until next time Merlot

hey mick maybe the pot is calling the kettle black with the riding of the coat-tails.. attacking the old fella that got u ur flag!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

now cmca nerd

you leave my good friend uncle mick alone.I am sure he more than contributed wuth the left hand slingers while cheeks was running around in Moorabbin twos.

The old man would have no doubt given him advise he didn't need and then Uncle did the smart thing and took his bat,4 piece ball and longy medal home with him!

The whisper is the Union boys are a bit concerned about playing West. Something about not knowing which west bentleigh team would turn up! West are a very tough team to beat on their day!

My money is on union out in straight sets!!

spot on cowboy! its good to see both mackie and union do their same tricks every year of getting so close....but yet so far! ohhhh they just cant get over the line. poor buggers!!

think the boys from west bentleigh will get over the line this week and celebrate long and hard into the early hours of monday morning

Not at all. I should've been clearer. Merlot stated older players are lasting longer in the game and I thought he may have been alluding to Pitty, as I've heard recently that some pundits believe he's the chink in the ESBC armour. My opinion is far from that. I said you only have to look at where he's got his runs to believe he's riding coat-tails. Not once did I state that he is.

And I'm happy to cop the riding coat-tails myself. At the end of the day, I had a seriously enjoyable year of cricket with a lot of good mates and went home with the ultimate prize.

Duely noted, Merlot. I wasn't arguing that today's game is easier on the bats. Simply, that there are still high quality cricketers playing the top grades that haven't had shadows cast over them by their peers of yesteryear.

Kiss of Death?? Despite getting West Bentleigh v Elwood wrong, I have been accurate on all other finals predictions. So, for what it's worth, I reckon East Sandy will go back to back this weekend.

If West Bentleigh won, it would be the most miraculous feat in CMCA history, considering they weren't considered being part of the finals at the start of round 11. They are now challenging East Sandy in the Grand Final... hence my reluctance to pick them.

However, I do hope that West Bentleigh push East Sandy all the way, and join ANA as the only team to beat East Sandy in finals this decade. I reckon Patterson Road will be roped off for a week if they do.

As for the CMCA's Grand Final week of events, they are on the ANA guestbook.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Might have confused you with mine, I think. I tipped Union in both grades.

And turn it up Sugar! It's resting on laurels like those that are partial to your lack of success in the top grade. Besides, West Bentleigh rolled East for a spot in the GF a few years ago, so they too share that record.

Should be a massive game. As mentioned, West are the only team to have rolled them this season. They've have to be very confident in themselves.

Can't see much changing from the previous 2 Woolnough encounters. This surely has to be Kingston Heath's year. They've gone missing the past 2-3 years around this time, but the hiccups were had a bit earlier than previous and they seemed to have found their feet just in time. Certainly earnt the rights to be favourites and I think they'd be fantastic for Longmuir. Good blend of youth and experience, along with great depth, should see them develop into one of the top CMCA clubs in years to come.
Special mention to Macca whom I hear has gone 30+ years without a flag. Be nice for him to get one, but I couldn't bear the sight of S.Worker holding the Shield. The game doesn't need to feed an ego like his. That said, Moorabbin West proved on the weekend they're capable.

Brownlow/team of year night at Bentleigh club Wednesday night (10th), Umpires night at Le Page Park Thursday night (11th), CMCA Senior Presentation at Bentleigh Club on April 17th, CMCA Junior Presentation night Tuesday 22nd at Kingston Hall.
The umps all had a pretty good weekend I think, will be a tough call on the top job.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

The C-grade grand final should be an interesting one, both Uniting and Washington have quite a few Longy standard players and both have easily accounted for Chelsea Heights in the finals who bowed out in straight sets. The Washington ball vs. Uniting bat should be an intruiging battle with Uniting passing 200+ only 2 down in the semi and Wash ups restricting Heights to only 100 in the prelim.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

TFS.

Not only the things you mention, but some of the Uniting lads are great mates with the Wash up boys who are playing in the C-grade game.
As they play football together, so a few bragging rights also.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Brett good to have back from hibernation. Will your great mates Barrack or Hilary use their executive power to get the gold cap park canteen opened for the masses that will decend to it for the big game?

Jimmy and Adam thanks for the Grand final info which is appreciated but by no means makes up for the disgraceful lack of information provided on the website of one of the supposed largest associations in Melbourne.Barrack should be impeached like ( Nixon was I think ) and Hilary better lift her game if she wants to fill Condelezza's dainty shoes.Surely the clubs and the cricketing public deserve better.

Who will take home Charlie tomorrow night ?

Harris had a blazing start,ANO alphabet started slowly but gained mometum, will the Moose finally salute, can Mikkelsen add to his Jansz medal, will the gold caps pinch votes from each other , or will Jimmy's love child continue the great run of all rounders that the BBQ mob have consistently voted for.Uncle Mick I might sneak in the back door with the trench coat and sun glasses to witness if any of these current day mob is worthy to stand in the shadows of yesterdays hereos who took Charlie home.

12 or 13 votes normally gets you over the line

Any word on the appeals yet? Will iron gloves get to play?

Jimmy I forgot to mention that you being one of the BBQ mob now should know that the points they gain during the season is the major basis for finals selection. You have to stuff up in a major way like the mobile sight screen did 2 weeks ago to be shafted.I will still have my 6 burger bourbons to 4 on 2 newbies!

Until next time Merlot

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Merlot i would hope he does, but if he does not i know the canteen at Brady Rd will be open as always.

Sugar,

Enjoying the youtube show mate! Just wondering if we are going to get a GF preview???

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

By failing to include Pothitos, I can only assume his suspension renders him ineligible? Or was his glaring omission simply an uncharacteristic oversight from our mysterious Merlot?

Mikko and I recorded the Grand Final Preview this morning... Phil had a few things to say regarding the tribunal. It should be uploaded by lunchtime, and available for viewing then.

As for the Brownlow tonight, despite Nathan Harris blazing away early, I reckon Craig Park will win it with 14 votes. He was just behind Chubbs in wickets, and was as consistent as any of Mackie's batsmen.

'Roids' has an outside chance, but his club affiliation will hurt him.Thebowling club is not the most popular with the umpires.
