Nicely wrapped Box - You didn't happen to play indoor down at Action in Thommo after last season did you?

Mernda's batting has been known to crumble on occasion, but I agree with Ice Man and CowCorner - they should get there, just!

Everything else seems pretty spot on though.

What's happened down at Bundy this year? The word around was that they were looking to really kick on after showing a bit last year, they look to have taken 3 steps backward?

Nah, never played Indoor Cricket at Thomastown mate. Who do you think I am?

I wouldn't be too disheartened if I was Bundoora at the moment, they beat Plenty and I'll tell you right now it's not easy restricting teams at Stars ground if you don't get them early, the ground is small and fast and the ball would be wrecked after 20 overs.

Having said that..........300 odd is still 300 odd and 7 dropped catches are still 7 dropped catches.

Only asked because that's the only time, other than listening to the 12th Man cd's, that I've seen someone call themselves CricketBox.. Just a wild stab in the dark, I wish I had more to go on than that!

What is everyone's thoughts on the weekend?

I reckon............

Epping (286) will get the points over Riverside, who will need a massive effort to even get close. Well done to Johnny Lever on his hundred.

Bundoora wont get within a hundred of Stars (8/315cc), Keaysy will be the destroyer in a dominating all round performance by the boys from Lalor. Thought Bundoora (Mann and Adams) would have had enough to restrict them to a fair bit less than that.

Mernda (5/102) should beat Lower Plenty (147) but I think they may fall short. Would love to be watching the first hour of that one this Saturday as much as I would have loved to have seen Chesto's first spell.

Eltham won't trouble Research (6/280cc) unless Minney makes at least 130 of them. He might hold up his end of the bargain but his mates might let him down. Search should have enough on the board to get home easily.

Plenty (1/59) will have no trouble on the small quick ground chasing down Macleod (168). Good to see Waddingham get a couple again. Who is Redmond? Can anyone from Macleod or Plenty fill the rest of us in on him?

Lower Eltham (7/113) will get Creek (138) if Gunny is still there when they do, if he goes early it may be a tense hour too! Creek only need a sniff to get up and going and they have a big one!

Anyone?

I personally think the best effort of the round was Mernda, to have the game they have had so far without Baker is astounding. Old Chesto still has it.
The most disappointing thing is Elthams bowling attack, sorry panthers but thats a 2's attack at best.
Epping really got out of jail and with their bowling attack could leave the siders behind the 8 ball early in the season. Maybe the final last year finally kicked Lever in the butt as to what he is capable of.
Stars did really well to make over 300 against Bundoora's attack, but small ground and the expectation of a win to Lalor do funny things to the opposition and anything could happen, the only certainty is 25+ overs from Keays.

Epping to do it easy, Smale and Gibbs are the obly ones to fire a shot. Salpig hasn't yet fired a shot but is due, McTaggart and Hursts to bowl all day as always!

Mernda/LP a tough game to call, Ill go for LP just in a thriller, Barnett to clean up the tail. Is Arnberger that good? Questions to be asked....

Research to win easily, Minney needs to get 150+ for the panthers to get close. The searchers import will bowl 35 overs, bolws very handy leggies apparently! It will be a shame to see Eltham in Money Shield next year....

Plenty to do it easy against MacLeod, the ginger pubed Curtain to get amongst the runs.

Lower Eltham to sneak past Creek, Gunn in form and Curtis still to bat. All rounder Burgoyne in at the crease as well. Could be an outright result either way i think.

As for the finals, my final 4 is now:

Epping
Lower Eltham
Plenty
Diamond Creek

MaCleod
Lower Plenty
Bundoora
Lalor
Mernda
Research
Riverside
Eltham

Comp Medal
1st - Gibbs/B.Glynn
2nd - Volpe
3rd - L.Burgoyne/S.McTaggart

Rising Star Award
D.Quinlan/N.Curtain

You're a goose! You are still having a crack at me? Firstly, if Skips gets 150+ Eltham win, but sadly I think that he will end up with 120 and Eltham just fall short. As for them finishing last! No chance, ELtham always find a way to knock a couple of sides over!

As for me getting the rising star award, I may find it a little tough getting enough votes when I'm NOT playing!

I'm not having a crack at you, your knock in Round 1 alone gets you the Rising Star award in my opinion!

As for Eltham, I really hope they stay up, mostly good blokes and Skips and Willow deserve to have some success. And yes, there is nothing surer than Skips getting a ton on Saturday.

How come everyone is Pumping Burgs tires up. Hasn't done a great deal over the years but shot his mouth off every time he is on the field. I still maintain he bowls pies
All rounder status for Burgs his batting ave of 5 speaks for itself

How

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

Quinny you are a clown I saw in one of your earlier posts as JB's Shadow that you said you played 50 A grade games how many of those games did you play for performance on game day and just not for training every night. Also how many of these games did you perform in.
I would go as far to say that the figures would be very slim pickings.

Also Cow Corner when was the last time you actually hit one of these to cow corner and not have the stumps cartwheeling and indangering the Keeper and the Slips fieldsmen in the Process. Its a bit hard to hit it to Cow Corner whilst your standing at square leg PRINCESS

Vilos, you are kidding yourself pal. Another 3 on the weekend, not bad for a plodder, and seen him many times holding an end up with a batsman leading the team for victory. Doesn't score many but will be nuisance value for teams. He does have a chat on the field a fair bit, and has looked like an absolute clown on more than one occasion, but will often get the job done.

I will give you one thing. Don't ask Cow Corner to bowl into the wind because you will hear the princess sook for a month.

Vilos, young fella you have come out firing here, first you slag Burgs as an allrounder.....actually I tend to agree, if he makes 6 runs this week Lower have the game on the bag. I will have a 6pack on it, but I want confirmation from importedopener2 that he actually had his eyes open for half the 'shots' or the bets off.

Next you slag Quinny (who posts as 100 diferent people (apparently)) it is you who have a few different IDs, I know you are the 430king.....

And I will take anychance on offer to place any of your half trackers OVER cow corner......anytime big fella, now get to the pizza shop and order breakfast.

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

And as I quote at the same time the proof you two, Vilos and the430king ARE THE SAME PERSON.

Mate I can come into the wind, its easier when a side screen like you vilos/the430king are blocking the wind for me, might have to get you to my club to help me.

I promise 4 free fried chickens and coke on match day

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

As much as we're going to hear out it for a long time, Burgs was fantastic, got us over the line. Good to see ticker from the Tin Man!

Bunny chased 315!! Crickey
