Wouldn't have thought the Bull Pen was his likley home, heaps of good kids coming through with a nice mix of older blokes, locals and internationals. Never say never though.

Old FAT blokes:)

Plenty of better cricketers under 25 than those named anyway. However, if 'Tongs' keeps making runs in the lower grades he may get even shorter.

My tips for this week and why:

Eltham Derby:

Lower. No need for an explanation really, I mean, the Panther can't even win with Minney making 120. Their only chance is if he makes 250. Other things to look for - Whitch to make 70+, Gun all - rounder Burgoyne to take 3 and make at least 20 and Eltham to once again have to listen to the other team sing the song.

Research vs Macleod:

It's only a matter of time before Turns and Malone share a massive one and the CricketBox feels the time is now. Macleod's bowling will be under immense pressure here and I feel Search may post a massive one if they can win the toss and have a bat. Good to see Ross get some runs last week. Waddingham may have a day out on small ground and needs to if Macleod are to be a chance.

Lower Plenty vs Lalor Stars:

Both still smarting from losses last week so it will be on from the start. If Keays doesn't destroy early, Lower could amass a big one on their ground, but, on the other hand, Lower's weakness is their bowling and Stars would fancy themselves for anoter big total if they can get through the early overs. Very close to call but I think Berger is ready to announce himself and no better stage than at home against Keays. Lower for mine.

Plenty vs Riverside:

Both off to starts they would rather forget this year but one feels that Plenty are in a little better form than their counterparts. Good to see them back to some winning form last week with the unknown Redmond starring. Riverside have a handy team but they will no doubt need Gibbsy and Big El to fire if they are to be a chance. Will be a close one as Riverside always turn up for this one but I think Plenty will scrape home. Love to get a biggy.

Creek vs Epping:

The one we have all been waiting for, the GF replay. Epping found some good form last week but I think Creek will love the home ground advantage. A lot will depend on the first 30 overs of the Creek innings, if Creek can survive early they will be hard to beat as their bowling and fielding pressure might be too much for the Pingers to handle. If this was at Epping I would say them no doubt, but I'm leaning towards the Creek. Would love to be there watching this one.

Bundoora vs Mernda:

Easy, Bundoora if Bakes doesnt bowl well. Mernda if he and Chesto do. Both had good wins last week but Bundoora's batting confidence will have lifted and that might be enough to get them home.

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

Some great posts here on this weeks games, great reading.

As for tongs calling me Pops or whitey.....still crack me up little fella. And no one ever mentioned you where a superstar....ever.

And for anyone calling L.Burgoyne an all rounder.........'bout time!!!!! All bowlers are all rounders Burgs, its the batters we don't let bowl 'cos they can't!!!!!!

Vilos/430king.......fools and from whispers if not the same person probably lovers, yes I did have a couple last week, I also had about 8 beers head start....no excuse though. And how does this info get out ?????

Kingofthevalley - Who is injured at Lower??? Who are the 'softies'??? Are they stronger than they are atm? Looking at the teams I cannot see anyone missing. They did have a fill in player break his wrist the other week but I was told h was a fill in and they do not count him as missing through injury.

re Arnberber, I agree he is only getting closer to a massive score. And I will not b one that states 'I told u so' It really should be written and expected.

This sounds very "Premiersagain" like this quote! Could we have yet another alias?

CowCorner, read all the posts. Some goose called me a superstar, and I must be fairly handy if I am favourite to win an award that I'm not eligible to win! (I know im an average twos player before everyone gets stuck into me)

Word around town that Jason Arnberger will not be the most experienced cricketer going around in the DVCA this season. Former Sri Lankan Test and One-Dayer cricketer Roshan Mahanama has moved with his family to the Northern suburbs of Melbourne and is keen to pull on the whites this summer for a hit. The fourty-two year old with a test double hundred next to his name and over 5000 ODI runs will be hot property. Epping, the front runners from Bundoora and South Morang the other possible early candidates. Yet to commit to any club.

We haven't spoken to him, but will if we can. Not sure what it would take to get him across the line, maybe i can convince Dysons to throw in a bus as part of the deal??

Mr Corner - You are obviously from Lower if you are getting this defensive, and yes I was referring to the bloke that broke his wrist, I heard he cried for hours when he did it.....

nah, but they have 3,000 of them so i'm tipping they wont miss one!! Surely a bus is worth more than the pie & can of coke we can afford to pay at the minute.....

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

Round 4 provides a very interesting round of games....

LE VS EL- Lower to easily win this, Eltham struggling!

RS VS MC- Macleod to get over the line in this one, small ground could suit, early wickets for both sides will be the key!

LP VS LS- Lower to win this, both coming off loses but wont make much difference! Lower must win, cant afford to be 1-3!

PL VS RV- Gibbs due for a big score and this may be the one, Siders to get home in a close one!

DC VS EP- Creek to be too strong all round, Epping's top order must fire as they have been struggling but Creek's bowling attack wont allow this to happen! Creek to get back on the winners list!

BU V ME- Tough game, whoever can make over 200 will probably win! Mernda's batsmen need to stand up and if happen to win this they will be looking the goods having beaten both Epping and Lwr Plenty already! Bundoora look to bat further down the Mernda and that may probe to be enough in this one! Hopefully for Bundoora's sake, baker is missing again although it didnt matter this game!

Tough round that could help shape the real contenders of the season especially Bundoora, Mernda, Epping, Creek and Lwr Plenty!!!

Bring on Satday!!!

Keep bringing in all these imports. See how your club is going in 5 years. You talk about all the young kids coming up through the club, but whats the point if your 1st's is stacked with all these imported blokes who couldn't give 2 ********ing shits about your club and it cultures. While all the kids that really do care will have gone, cos they can't get a game 4 their club, cos of some bloke thats been in the country 5 minutes. Then these blokes will piss off like they always do, you'll turn around and say right who have we got to step up. And all that will be standing there is fat Moorey, Maxwell and yourself (maybe Keasy will be looking 4 a club then 2). So do what you like with your club I don't really care either way and all the best with it.

Dunno if you are on the mark there bubbles, was not trying to get defensive either, just did not think Lower had injuries until I realised you where referig to Mr Cricket himself (just ask him.....and I know he read this) but crying for hours sounds true to his form.

Icey, you start off on your high horse slagging imports and what they do and how the will ruin Bundoora, then you finish with stating that you do not really care, if you really did not care then why waste all the effort in actually posting.

I say good luck to clubs that have imports, it improves the standard of cricket all round. YES I agree that some have no interest in the individual club and will leave as soon as they get a better offer (BUT this is not only overseas imports have a look at Butera at Epping then Greensborough, from all reports the man would not buy a coke after the game after putting his hand out for his payment AND only lasted a year at each club AND payed handsomely as well)) AND that it can restrict juniors but if you are trying to win A grade games and provide happy supporters to your club (happy supporters = more over bar = profits, happy supporters = better sponsors = profits) then sometimes that is a sacrifice you CAN make. Manage them correcly and they will TEACH the youngsters and ensure they improve their cricket and push to get a gamke not just be given one because they were a junior at the club but are not ready.

All this is an individual clubs committee decision and I am sure that that understand all the implications imports have and manage them correctly.

Cheers, Oh and I am watching that muppet Ghambir make a ton ATM....f*&^%ing frustrating..........

If you dont care then why did you open your big, ignorant mouth? Bundoora's a proud strong club with a great history of juniors coming through and plenty of success. If you dont care then spare us your racist dribble.
