Eca 2011/2012

Well done Tonguey. Played a bit against the other bloke and not sold on him, but still a super performance! Hopefully for the tips they get up!

A class knock no doubt. Anyone agree that it's probably worth 80 on a normal ground?? (and 40 on RC's paddock). Almost cheating as a batsman on that ground, although it's no Canterbury... Tongue surely vying with Parsons for best all-rounder in the comp.

Didnt they play at Ashy? good to bat out there, and agree, last time I played at the city it wasn't great, score of 50 would be like a ton!

What a stupid thing to say! Playing down someone's hundred because of the ground they played on... ridiculous. No matter the ground you play on, you still have to hit the ball, so a hundred should be a hundred no matter where it's scored.

Correct. Can't have been too much of a cheap hundred if they were 5/65!

You're right, a hundred is a hundred, but it is certainly easier to score hundreds at some grounds than others. RC very hard, although the boundaries aren't long, Ashy not too hard - fast outfield and some small boundaries, Canterbury is a joke of a ground - fast outfield and 30m boundaries.

Fark you blokes take this seriously. You can't tell me a hundred at Canterbury with it's lightning outfield and tiny straight boundaries is worth the same as at the paddock at RC.

Never denied 120 odd at 5/65 isn't a quality knock.

Hawthorn's scorecard uploaded onto mycricket... They were 5/65 before Tongue & Somia put on an unbeaten stand of 224! Tongue 127*. Somia stranded on 99* at the close of play.

Only 71 overs bowled, so presumably lost 30+ minutes of play. Bat on this week to reach three figures... Be a little nervous walking out there on 99 at the start of play (although at least 99 are already in the bank!)

Perhaps Tonguey will declare overnight and leave him stranded...

Pitch Report: The Ashy deck currently resembles something akin to the Eastern Freeway (which Kop would be familar with after sitting on it for 6 hours each day). Hawthorn could bat for first hour of play, post 350 and still lose this week.

Forgive my ignorance, but does each team who is still batting overnight have the option to try to bat for the rest of this Saturday?

We don't take it seriously Jose... You asked for an opinion and you got one.

Gold! "Kop" is quite an ironic name, cos you are COPPING it from Reg at the moment!

Correct. First batting side can bat for the whole day if they want to.

Makes for some interesting declaring/chasing situations.

I think in these situations the team batting first should only bat for the 80 overs. Giving a team the chance to bat as long as they want the next week can kill game of cricket. Espically after a rain delay, where teams have the option of playing defensive cricket just so they can bat on next week. It is a massive disadvantage for the side batting second.

I do agree that it makes it a very interesting saturday of cricket. Lets hope the weather stays like this for the weekend!

I would agree that some grounds are easier to score on than others and this should be taken into consideration but at the same time any hundred is a great effort especially at 5/65 against the reinging premier.

I don't mind the 'ordinary conditions' rules. Quite often the team batting first has had the worst of the conditions so batting on a bit in the second week is ok. Not too many teams are going to play for a draw. On the odd occasion it happens it is good to have to bowl a team out instead of just trying to restrict them.

Surely this early in the season every team would consider themselves a chance to win.

I can understand that later on in the season some teams may want to consolidate their ladder position and play for the draw, being happy to collect 3 points?

In that case it up to the bowlers and captain of the team chasing the win to bowl attackingly and set agressive fields. A bit of sledging to the team playing for the draw also makes for interesting cricket.

Hahahahah - such a comedian !! Hey Reg, good comeback - NOT !!!! took you awhile actually ?? Had to get one back - If that's the best you can do ? You know your talking out of your ring once again ? But, thats OK , I'll forgive you for making such stupid statements as you try coluding your audience.
If your going to dish it out - be man enough to take some shite back ??
Just try and stick to cricket matters and save SOME OF US the boredom by talking sense if you can somehow manage that ??
