Eca 2011/2012

Who gives a shite who gets paid and who doesnt get paid !!!!! Thats all I hear from this website. Big deal, just get out there and play cricket for F##K sake.
If Deepdene, Ashy, Mulgrave, Bulleen etc want to spend money on getting good players into the ECA I say well done, good on them. It makes other comps around Melbourne take notice of the ECA and might get more ex or current district players coming to our comp. The young kids training and playing with or against these guys is great for cricket, they get to see them up close and learn from them.
Unfortunately not all clubs have that kind of money to get good players knocking on there doors, but dont sit there and bitch about these other clubs because if your club had the money, you would be doing the same thing !
Get over it...... Move on.

I kind of agree timmee, but the prob is there are rules in the comp and it has always been an issue and a topic. I think people talk about how many get paid from clubs but wouldn't have a clue if people were or not. i know that some of the clubs you mentioned don't actually pay players, but others will always speculate. usually if the club is winning.
on another note, if any of the sturgess boys were paid then it has been a huge waste of coin!

Keep the Deepdene bashing and personal insults coming. Really is very comical. No doubt these posts are all coming from superstars of the competition who play in premiership sides on a regular basis!!

If Sturgess bros get coin, that would be comical. I suppose if Luke Sturgess got coin, he could have used the money to pay for his medical bills when he dropped the catch in the SF and broke his nose. Another player that should have a balaclava on is that coach from Mulgrave Carter getting 15k and only playing 2's.

I heard a whisper that at the end of last year that a well legal firm provided advice to an umpire relating to a matter concerning Deepdene cricket club. Not sure what it was about but he does not umpire for ECA anymore. Think it was a Dunstan regular.

Someone involved at Hawthorn having a go at catching in finals, the ironies not lost on me. I can recall a Dunstan grand final at Central reserve where a certain teams catching during the game resembled a marching band all playing the cymbals.

Don't let let facts get in the way of a good story, I got the skinny from a Dunstan senior turf umpire I know. Ask yourself why every other Dunstan shield game got away that weekend. The wicket at Ashy was dry as a bone but a used wicket on the edge of the square was damp. Common sense suggested that mats be put over this 'dangerous '(if you ask Ashy and said umpire) area but they didn't want a bar of it and no one knows why because they did that at every other ground that day. The ground was so 'dangerous' Ashy decided to play a center wicket practice match on it straight after! That umpie huffed and puffed over applying a different set of rules and is now with another competition. Sometimes when people stuff up badly they can't admit when they're wrong and take it to the nth degree.

cymbols hey? never heard of em

when it comes down to it, isnt it the umpires final decision on the state of the pitch/ground? has nothing to do with either team?am I wrong?
