Eca 2011/2012

I think Stallworthy may have played at Hawthorn. Don't think Fernon played.

Any more reports from last nights T20, saw Davo got a hat trick and Bulleen seem to still hold the wood over Glen Iris in finals games after last years semi.
Well done Davo. Great player and Bulleen are 10 times the club with him in.

Pretty confident Fernon has been at Skevs since at least 2000. How are your boys going to go against GI Kop? Are you guys confident of playing finals?

Yeah Paintball, the boys are very confident in knocking over GI , now that Armstrong is in the shed , but, they're not "overconfident" as this can be dangerous in Dunstan these days. The bowling attack is very good and if they can get through the next couple of batsman early , they're in with a show. Past history at Tormore states when you are chasing 180-200 there, being a large ground, it can be tough going chasing and it is always a competitive total to defend. Should be a really good contest and challenge actually !
Otherwise, talking finals at the minute is a bit premature and the culture at Boronia is not about that , not that they haven't discounted it , but, until they can get over this hurdle first and they can roll GI , they are primed to give finals a real shake as they are a tight knit group anyway ! They just love a good- hard contest ! We'll see !!

Did I see correct? 80 run last wicket partnership by Boronia and Armstrong opening batting after keeping for 72 overs? Should Armstrong have opened? The pop gun attach could not dismiss the number 11 bat. GI cannot win flag or even make finals with their bowling attack. They are desperatley missing their best bowler and Dunstan medialist from last year. If Boronia can dismiss the GI import early, the rest may fall like a pack of cards.

Yes Prospector , was an amazing finish to the day in the end ! Apparently it was a NEW club record for the 10th wicket stand !!!
Look, it'll be a really good contest for both sides and yes, the Boronia boys will be really "pumped up" on Saturday and they live for this sort of stuff and are pretty hungry for success, but again, know how important it is - don't worry about that ? It'd be interesting to see if they can execute the plan ? They have some more than winable games coming up over the next few weeks. Will really test out their character and they're can't be any better "carrot to dangle in front of them" than this week - lets face it ?

If the games go like this this weekend; Skevs, Deep outright, MA, Mulg, Ashy (providing the phantom sprinklers stay off), Boronia, the ladder would look like this at the end of the weekend.

Skevs 39
Deep 37
Haw 33
ED 27
Ashy 27
Bor 27
GI 25
MA 24
Mul 21
Marc 15
Bull 12
RC 9

I think it means that MA and possibly Boronia have to try and find a way of getting 10 points and for all the teams in the middle every point is golden. There's going to be some heartbreak this season, I think. % is going to be crucial as well so winning without losing many wickets is going to be critical.

By no means do I think all these results are cut and dried; Haw, Bull especially with their strong bowling attack, ED and GI all have realistic chances of winning, so it will be fascinating. I think the only obvious results are MA and Deep (clearly) but they are playing, IMO, the 2 weakest teams in Dunstan, so they should win comfortably.

Thoughts?

Agree with the ladder, well done.

Deepdene, if they do get the 10 points, could really get themselves out of the sh*t considering they havent been at their best recently, could kick start their season.

I still think Ashy & Glen Iris are dangerous

Thanks. I think if Deepdene can't (effectively) beat Marcellin in another 1 dayer, they can't win the title, so they MUST get the 10 points. Having said that I think it will be a formality because Marc are struggling. The big one is the glut of teams on 27 points - someone needs to make a dash and get points somewhere. This is why I think MA need to do what they can to try and roll RC twice, otherwise I don't think they can make finals, it will be left to others for them to make it. If there are any results which don't go the way I think, it's going to be a terrific last few rounds. Bulleen, I thought, would make finals or at least finish close, but I don't think that can happen and I think a few teams are going to rue losing some close games throughout the season. Skevs have won every close one I think, so that puts them in a commanding position coming into finals. Whether they're good enough come a GF, time will tell. If Deepdene get a home final I think they're a big chance. Gi are dangerous, no doubt, especially at home (it pains me to say that), but IMO they leave too much up to Cam Armstrong and they're bowling isn't quite good enough to restrict the good batting teams.

I think if Skevs get a home final (which looks to be going that way) they are 80% of the way to making a granny.

I can't see Mont Albert pushing for finals, I think they should secure 6 points this week and just ensure that they stay up, write the season off as just something that happens, and have another good crack next year.

I am still not convinced by East Doncaster, yes, they have beaten Hawthorn, also Deepdene (but wasnt that a debatable pitch? must be the same pitch that they had Ashy 3/0 on last week!) They have not beaten anyone of note apart from that and they have a tough run home.

Glen Iris bowling doesn't look strong enough to hold up, especially with an 80 run stand for the last wicket against boronia last weekend.

I think the last round is going to be a cracker
Glen Iris v Ashburton Willows
Boronia v Richmond City
Mulgrave v Deepdene Bears
St Kevins OC v East Doncaster
Bulleen v Mont Albert
Hawthorn v Marcellin OC

have just done a final ladder and i think that this is how it will finish

1 Hawthorn
2 St Kevins
3 Deepdene
4 Ashburton
5 Boronia
6 Glen Iris
7 East Doncaster
8 Mont Albert
9 Mulgrave
10 Marcellin
11 Bulleen
12 Richmond City

I think you're pretty close - I'll be interested to see how Haw end up because I think they have a difficult run inf rom memory. I think Bulleen will finish higher than that and GI could push if everything goes their way.

That could make you a GI Bowler. They are all fringe players.
Ha ha....Prospector. You sound like you have an agenda against GI. Dont like em eh? Reason i say that is figures suggest GI have taken 2nd most wickets this year (according to most recent my cricket stats) Ive been critical of their batting but minus Armstrong they showed a bit yesterday. Dont think Suckling bowled though....

Very disappointed in Mulgrave, Skevs and, in particular, Boronia. Taking 2 wickets in a whole days play - what the f*(% is up with that? Still reckon RC and Marcellin are hot favs to go down.

Don't follow the stats but very surprised to see GI taken second most wickets. Rate their batting very high but still think their bowling could be a bit suspect under presuure, but your stats don't show that. Hats off to them for their performance against Boronia, but will have have to keep winning to make finals. They have the ability to bat teams out of matches so good decks and winning tosses a must for them. They made the runs against Boronia sans Armstrong for the loss of only two wickets. Impressive performance under pressure. I predict they will make finals.

Been Interstate for past few weeks and some interesting results.
RC and Marcellin to go down and Hawthorn to win Comp.

Mulgrave in trouble if either RC or Marcellin get act together in last few rounds..... but doubt if that will happen.

GI have taken the most wickets I think - an outright helps that a lot, so don't read too much into it. They will most likely make finals. they're in the 4 now, aren't they?
