Eca 2012/13

How'd your club go in the T20? well that might give away who you are - but any comments on the T20's in general? Any clubs taking them seriously? Those pink balls are rubbish!

In defense of the balls i think they are an improvement over recent years . they seemed to play OK . certainly were humming of the bat early !

Now boys ... i know this is stepping onto thin ice BUT can the ECA please put out a Memo to all Umpires on the basic principles of the LBW rule ! If the ball pitches outside the leg-stump , regardless of whether it is going on to hit the wickets or not it is simply NOT-OUT.
It is critical they get this right for the integrity of the game.

Can I say, quite seriously, that the ECA are to be congratulated. I reckon the quality of the umpires this season has been terrific. Much better than in recent years and even on Tuesday night, even though I was half cut in the bar, our umpires seemed good. I don't have any complaints about them at all.

I reckon Sheer Pace has outed himself-unlucky. Have to check things like team lists on the web before you highlight the facts that you have and no one else has. Perhaps he should spend more time at practice and less time on Bigcricket? Having said that, nice to have you on board.

Not so sure about that - I actually only follow the ECA in passing, have 2 mates who play for Deepdene in the 1's and I call by and have a look occasionally, but my cricket days are long long gone ....the Deepdene team is on their club site and although I have watched a few of their games in the last couple of years, most of the names on the list I have not come across at all so I presume they are from lower grades!

Maybe the punters on the board here can assess how close this is to a full strength team.....

How close were Burwood to full strength? I had a quick look through their team, and plenty of B Grade (including top scorer, and best bowler) players, and even one bloke playing his first game of the season!

If you have found a bloke playing his first game of the season, you have hardly had a "quick look"

I clicked on the names of the three bowlers who I thought had the best figures; the bloke playing his first game was the third one I clicked on. I didn't bother to read any of their stats, I figured the fact they were playing B Grade was proof enough that Burwood also weren't at full strength.

As a test, I just went and did it again - I was able to establish that the third name I clicked on hadn't played a game this season in comfortably less than a minute.

No, my uni days are long gone, and I'm still fairly certain that I was able to check those few stats in less time than it took you to type out that post.

Haven't been reading this forum very long, but is it a big Deepdene love-in? Or is there just a bit of disdain for Burwood?

The umpires are terrible, nothing has hanged over the last few years. Let's be serious and stop wasting our time talking about pathetic clubs such as deepdene and Burwood and talk about more important matters. It is looking to be a testing weekend of cricket with the weather being 37. Some interesting situations at the half way point of the match and we all know the good teams/players perform when the weather is hot. Should be a good Saturday of cricket and good luck to everyone playing.

No theres no love lost for either Burwood or Deepdene on the forum ...... just has to be a little more politically correct these days ! Burwood doesnt cop that much becasue most of the focus is on dunstan clubs . Deepdene cop it becasue theres a few flogs at the club plus they are the reining champs who are underperforming .

Exactly, everyone wants to get into the previous years premiers, and it's the same every year.

After this weekends games, will there be a clear 5 or 6 teams who can make the finals, and will the relegation battle be all but over?
