Eca 2012/13

Games this week:

Surrey Hills 1/8 v North Balwyn 221 - NB runs on the board. SH big chance at Surrey, after 350 against Dale.
St Kevins OC 214 v Boronia - Boronia won't win a game. They played marcellin yet?
Deepdene Bears 199 v Ashburton Willows 2/50 - Agree, 200 might just be enough. Cox needs to make 100.. prob will!
East Doncaster 130 v Glen Iris 5/95 - Can't lose needing 40 runs on that ground with Mr red-ink himself Grubich in with Armstrong. Not surprising he got changed into the shorts last week and is batting at 8. Poor form, weak! cost them in T20 too!
Mulgrave 153 v Hawthorn 3/37 - Agree runs on board but not sure enough though.. Not sure Mulgrave bowling good enough.
Mont Albert 197 v Marcellin 4/31 - MA easily

With the Mully game, when it's 50/50, always go the team with the runs on the board. Hard to chase at Mully too.

Wonder which flog from NB posted this into the ECA website .......... talk about ammunition for opposing sides next time these " run machines " bat .........................

In what surely must be a first at not only North Balwyn Cricket Club (but also in most cricket clubs throughout Australia).

On the weekend the 3 Cohen boys, Toby (48 in Dunstan), Hugh (51 in B Grade) and Julian (60 not out in E Grade) each top scored in their respective teams.

Julian was batting at "5", whilst Toby was batting at "7" and Hugh was at "8".

Is anybody aware of this ever happening at their club?

Games this week:

Surrey Hills 1/8 v North Balwyn 221 - sticking with surrey at home . Parera could get them on his own
St Kevins OC 214 v Boronia - skevs easy
Deepdene Bears 199 v Ashburton Willows 2/50 - Depends whos out .... favour Willows just
East Doncaster 130 v Glen Iris 5/95 - GI to pass total and then slog till tea . ED will get another bat.
Mulgrave 153 v Hawthorn 3/37 - Hawks good enough to get another 120
Mont Albert 197 v Marcellin 4/31 - MA easily. MA to have a look at 10 points

What a round.

Will this be remembered as the round that changed it all?
Firstly, how dare Skevs let Boronia win a game?

The ladder is now as open as you like. Fair to say that GI with their 10 pts against a hapless ED has secured them a top 2 and MA will hold on to the other top 2 place after their points today against Marc.
The battle for 3rd and 4th is right on. With Haw and Ashy losing and Mully winning (what a game that must have been if the scores are right), 3 teams on 30 points and Skevs (who will rue today I have no doubt) on 24 points just behind them.

The all but decided relelgation dogfight is, all of a sudden, right back on. The results today mean that there are 4 very nervous teams fighting it out. Today was massive for Surrey and Deepdene's survival chances. Can Boronia stay up? Doubt it, but 9 points puts them right in the game and one more victory might be enough.

Updated Ladder - if the scores are right (hope I can add!)
GI 46
MA 42
Ashy 30
Haw 30
Mully 30
Skevs 24
Deep 18
Surrey 18
NB 15
Marc 15
ED 15
Boronia 9

Tipping update after round 8.

Maestro 34
Council Mayor 30
Paintball lover 28
Watto 27 (won the round with 4 tips)
The Undertaker 26
Cricket Stump 24
Chairman Mao 24
Washout 24
Mad Max 20

My tips for round 9

A few upsets for me.

GI too good for Mulgrave.
Boronia to upset Deepdene.
MA to belt East Donny
Marcellin to upset Hawthorn
North Boring to upset St.Kevs
Ashy easily over surrey.

Was a great round and the only thing that is certain now, is that GI and MA will finish in top 2 and earn themselves a home final.

The way its shaping is looking like there will be 3/4 teams competing for the last 2 spots if SKOB can get a few more wins on the board.

GI too good for Mulgrave.
Boronia to upset Deepdene.
MA to belt East Donny
Marcellin to upset Hawthorn
North Boring to upset St.Kevs
Ashy easily over surrey.

All set-up for a ripping last 3 weeks !!
Top 6 fighting for finals ( should really say positions 3 - 6 fighting to play finals as top 2 are in )
Bottom 6 fighting to stay up .

Tips for Round 9
GI to continue the run against Mulgrave.
Boronia at Home .... cant believe i am tipping them BUT a win will make the last 2 games in the relegation battle VERY interesting.
MA too classy for East Donni not sure they can bounce back from being rolled at home in 30 overs.
Hawthorn Hawks to beat the Marcellin Eagles in the battle of the birds of prey. Hawks too much depth
North Balwyn at home in a minor upset. wheels have fallen off the skevs and need punishment for allowing a Boronia win.
Ashburton at home against surrey . Ashy bats to do the damage .... gotch to make 100 and prove he is worth the cash .

I find it interesting that tipsters predict players to make big hundreds but no one has got them right. I remember someone saying doggy will make 200 in a game. No disprespect to doggy here but has he even got 200 runs for the year. On the other hand when it comes to predicting run makers there are people who think every game someone will ton up and I would say on average there is 1 ton per round. Also I heard about gotch is that he left Melbourne just before the season started and he was training with the vics all winter. I think he maybe giving footy a go.

You're right, Watto. It is very rare that each week we see a century. You are more likely to see 5fas in a game than a century. This is mainly due to the fact that not many teams are batting 80 overs anymore.

Yeah tons don't happen every day but looking at ECA my cricket it says there has only been 87 centuries in Dunstan history.
Surely that's not right is it?

OK Boys time for end of season Dunstan predictions with the action hotting up both at the Top and Bottom of the ladder
I think there should be a bonus point on the tipping ladder for each correct answer for the following :
Dunstan Premiers : Mont Albert
Relegation : Boronia & Marcellin
Dunstan Medallist : Jack Taylor ( GI )

thoughts ?

Premiers: MA (GI batting still the question mark under pressure)
Rel: Boronia & ED (The game against Marcellin pivotal)
DM: Taylor by the length of Flemington straight
