Eca 2012/13

Premiers: Hawthorn
Relegation: Surrey Hills & Boring
Medal: Grubich (Will hide Taylor down the order for the rest of the season to give himself every chance)

OK Boys time for end of season Dunstan predictions with the action hotting up both at the Top and Bottom of the ladder
I think there should be a bonus point on the tipping ladder for each correct answer for the following :
Dunstan Premiers : Mont Albert
Relegation : Boronia & Marcellin
Dunstan Medallist : Jack Taylor ( GI )

thoughts ?
Dunstan Premiers : Glen Iris
Relegation : Boronia & East Donny
Dunstan Medallist : Taylor

Haw and Ashy aren't guaranteed finals, so I can't tip them, but I'd be much more confident of Ashy, Haw aren't good enough

GI V Mulgrave: Will be interesting after Mulgraves win over Hawks. Maybe GI too cocky? but think at home will get the job done. Maybe lots depends on Taylor.. if he goes early will be a good game.

Boronia V Deepdene: Think Parsons too classy for Boronia. Not good to see Sturgess make runs, how? The loser of this game will be very nervous!

MA V East Donny: ED terrible last game, rolled in the 2nd dig like that. YUK. MA to keep form going, think Wright is due for a big one.

Marcellin V Hawthorn: Hawks to bounce back. Tongue in the runs again, carrying that team! They will keep their finals chances alive with a big win.

North B V St.Kevs: Gone an upset. Agree StKevs need punishment for last week. Maybe the NB Pom to fire up and make some again.

Ashy V Surrey: Not sure how Ashy get the Aussie U19 player at this stage of the season, They got room in their salary cap anymore? this to add to their finals race and he will makle plenty this week. Cox a steady and classy performer, will get them into the finals.

Max! Hawks? Taylor for me at this stage but a few interesting games ahead.
Relegation will be decided soon as they play a few interesting games over next few rounds.
I am not sure about the 20/20 comp. Think format needs overhaul. Composition of teams could be looked at say with a quota of under 18s in each side or restrict the number of 1st eleven each team can field. Maybe they could play 12( 11 to be able to bat and 11 to be able to bowl)
If you are going to have pools then top 2 in each pool should make finals. You can the seed the draw so top side play 2nd sides. Any thoughts? Do we just not bother?

Good topic... looking at mycricket a good indication for the Dunstan Medal? I guess not all votes are given on stats, and the umpires would no doubt have the ones they give some votes regardless...

Dunstan Premiers : Ashburton. Possibly GI if Taylor is there all season.
Relegation : Boronia & Marcellin
Dunstan Medallist : 1. Jack Taylor 2. Cox 3. Tongue

Freddie: Why would you have U18 players and not all 1st XI for the T20's? if that was the case the best side for each club isn't playing guaranteed. Even though some clubs wouldn't field their saturday XI, its a good test of getting the best T20 side out there..

The overhaul I would be calling for is to have 2 comps... Turf & Synth.. perhaps get the Top 2 sides after the rounds and semis, then the top 4 can play off in a Super Finals or whatever. Its no good for Synth players on the turf and vice versa, as in advantage and care factor...

Hot news. Have a mate who plays sub district for a northern suburbs club. Tells me a former ECA person connected with club with black and gold as their colours and not in Dunstan was seen in deep conversation with ex Aussie quick currently terrorizing players in the subbies. He wont come cheap but can still bowl with pace and can still swing the stick. Interesting to see if anything develops.

Stump, I Agree but games I have seen seem to be a mismatch at times and this does not give credibility to a comp. Just suggesting a though to even out the comp. I see your reasoning about splitting syn and turf but not sure this will happen

Burwood and Mick Lewis is old news

Him and Adam Dale can play against each other next year in A-Turf
haha...like it. Mick Lewis is one crazy dude, good luck to any team that takes him on

My 2 cents on the other topics....
Premiers - Ashy (with another signing just to top them off)
Relegation - Boronia & ED
Medal - Taylor & Grubich to go 1-2

Premiers: MA to beat Ashy
Relegation: Bogans and Marcellin
Medal: 1. Taylor 2. Day 3. Parsons

I can't imagine Burwood signing Lewis. Don't they waste their money on ex ECA trouble makers and over weight UK keepers?

Re: Dunstan Medal....
I can't see a side having the top 2. They are stealing votes from eachother each game aren't they? Would be good achievement for the club though for that to happen. Surely others in the side or opposition have taken a few away from them.

I don't think anyone has mentioned a MA player yet for the medal. Very even side!

gi- only cause at home (2 poms and a malaysian to chose from at mulgrave- hard decisions)
deep- will get the job done
ma- too good
haw- has the roll started
sk- wont fall to them
ashy- surrey away no chance

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak!!

Been laying low after being attacked last year on this forum for actually having an opinion....... But keeping tabs on the results.

I'm going with my man Stallworthy for Dunstan. A class player in a bad team always gets votes, just like Slacky at Mulgrave. Noticed he isn't there anymore??!!

Forum Predictions
Well Punters it looks like the general consensus is
Premiers : Will be a play off between Ashy & Glen Iris . With Ashy to win
Relegation : Seems to be Boronia and either ED or Marcellin heading to A turf
Dunstan Medal : the engraver may as well put Taylors name on it now ........... not sure we can take XXXX angels too seriously ..... Stallworthy ...really ? the dont hand out medals for being a muppet.

Agree .... think the 20/20 will only go from strength to strength BUT ECA do need to do something with the format .... Personally i dont mind the mixed Synthetic / Turf comp.
