Re: England v Sri Lanka

Read has had plenty of chances and has proven time and time again that he's not up for the job.

There are plenty of options for keeper so I say look to the future.

I was stating who previously has the reins before Prior ;)

Aye, and I was just giving my opinion of Read in general.

England in charge in the current game, with Sri Lanka on 42-4. Two wickets apiece for Broad and Sidebottom.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka have lost 2 more wickets since and England are truly on top. Chamara Silva and Dilshan are quite capable of reconstructing the innings so England shouldn't sit back and relax.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

Swann on and gets a wicket first over. He's looking like a good pick so far on this tour, plenty of list 'A' experience and tactical nous.

I have to admit that I was in two minds whether or not he was a good selection but he seems to add balance to the England team, extending the tail slightly as well.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

Another one down, Swann on fire! Mubarak gives the simplest of catches back to the bowler, who grabs it.

Sri Lanka on the racks now at 93-6.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

England seem to be in some trouble. 49-4 doesn't look too good. They'll need some one to play like Dilshan probably Collingwood.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

Looking slightly difficult here,

Kevin Pietersen looked decent, but his series, isn't lighting anything up, c'mon Collywobble!

Re: England v Sri Lanka

England managed to win the match in the end by 2 wickets. Brilliant bowling by Swann and 25 runs with the bat proved to be valuable. Good signs for England since they haven't really had any match winning spinners in the recent past in ODIs.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

I really thought England had blown it but luckily we got there in the end.

Why are they playing this entire series as day\night games? It means that the team bowling second has an unfair advantage.

Surely, 1 or 2 would have been enough?

Re: England v Sri Lanka

I think it makes it a bit more exciting, the toss is vital, but yeah, when a ball seams a good 6inch, you know your seamers have a good chance.

Why is Broad so amazingly good as a batter at 8? He seems a real prospect, and is much more consistant than Tremlett, Harmison and to some extent Hoggard,

If it was me, my pack would be Broad, Sidebottom, Hoggard, Anderson Panesar, i'd have 5 bowlers, specially against Sri Lanka at home, sounds like a stupid idea, and unneeded tactic, but if Broad is scoring 20+ runs per innings, why not?

Re: England v Sri Lanka

Nope not really England bowled really well didn't give any freebies or loose balls.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

wow england must have bowled really well and they are going to cruise to a comprehensive victory now.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka have managed to take 3 wickets but its a bit too late. The victory wont be as comprehensive as it should have been. But a series win in the sub continent after a long time has been a tremendous effort by them.

Great performance i think im going to have to start to get used to england winning one dayers :eek:hmy:.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but England are rubbish at ODI's, then again Sri Lanka are usually amazingly good.

Tell you what it is, its been the bowling attack, i reckon Hoggard and Harmison will be hard pushed to come back into the Test squad with the way the bowlers are playing, they're using conditions perfectly, and all these drink breaks are helping a lot, as how many times does a wicket go down after a break? It must be half of the time atleast.

Re: England v Sri Lanka

The batting side has a way to go the opening situation needs to be addressed and we need a more flexible order and ravi should be higher up the order imo, but there is a definatly a good core to the side. :)

Re: England v Sri Lanka

 England winning a odi game, and a series, thats amazing!

The tests will be interesting, because Murali will rip your terrible batsmen apart, the only reason england won against us is cos Murali wasn't playing.
