whats the biggest six ever hit? who hit it? and where was it?
in gca/bpca?

Saw G Kelson hit one over the Grovey clubrooms one day. Very large. Also, Stacey was hit over the St Peters rooms also by Leon Guthridge. Two biggies.

Furgy hit me over the Drysdale change rooms in the 7's comp last year:eek:

Bear (Rohan Merry) use to hit them into the tennis courts at Thomson quite regularly.

Big Feather hit one from St Albans onto boundary rd, and into the shop on the other side a few times.

big feather hit the shop bout 9 or 10 times every game before he batted:D

Harper
Marsland

Bosworth
Benci??

As far as BPCA quicks go they say Cameron who played at Ocean Grove was rapid and Rundle from OG also, I never played against them but quick apparently

Nichols and Carrol was a deadly opening partnership...... Mainly because of Carrol.

They recken Phil Unsworth was rapid in his day? Played against him a couple of times and didn't find him overly quick when he was at Guild/St Marys.

i've heard in his day he was lightning. he just strolls in now. he's still sharp for a 45 year old bloke haha, but probably no where near what he used to be. still bowls a pretty nasty bouncer but haha

I remember he was trying to bounce a Pom at Thomson when I was there Andrew "king" Hall, I think he got him with a short one........once he was 140 odd:D

The King batted all day that game.
For pure pace it would be Haper but i would prefer to face him over Anderton or Miller as they both are hard to pick up out of the hand, especially Miller who is quite whippy with his action and the ball skids on to you + you have got his enormous run-up to contend with, i bought an arm guard the night before the NDCC game. Haven't seen Marsland bowl for a couple years but he used to make batsmen jump all over the crease when we played school cricket.
Benci can send them down but isn't in the same ball park as those stated above.
Quicky has still got a good quicker one, he pinged me on the lid couple years ago.
Alford previously from North Geelong who is now down at Geelong bowls pretty good wheels these days also.
What about that bloke called Adam Di Giacommo who was from the Geelong region, think he plays VCA at North Melbourne now, some people say he used to send them down at some pace?

Biggest 6 i've seen in a game i've played in would be at Camberwell, Port Powers Travis Boak got hit a long long way. Over 40m high trees, over a road and deep into the cementary at Camberwell's 3rds ground.
Seen Cetkovic hit it into the Kindergarden at Thomson, Smelly hit Ando a long way in a 1 dayer at Manifold a few years ago also.

Heard Hally at Grovey was as quick as anyone on his day. Quickest i've faced are Miller then Harper. Shorter men like Miller always hurry you up more than the big guys like Ando and Harps, but are not necessarily quicker, just skiddier.

i've heard people say miller is quicker than harps through the air, but harps is quicker off the deck?

We had a spinner bowling to Darryl Stevenson at Torquay one year and one of the balls in the over went onto the social rooms roof and the next one post-high through the goals at the highway end.

i remember when i was a little fellar, watching my dad play against alexander thomson. this is when we were still st mary's, not guild/st mary's so it's like, 11 or 12 years ago. brendan foresman made 210 not out against us, and he put one into the tennis court next to their ground.
we've seen a few balls go flying over the sheds at our ground. bouncing down the court haha. when steve alsop still played for us, he cleared west fyans st at training one day

Could bat Forssman. Made a good 100 against us one day. Retired too early?

Hits the ball as hard as anyone I've seen consistently, wasn't he in the NSW squad as a younger bloke at some stage? Not 100% on that though.

he was a bit before my time, i'm only 22 now. but from what i hear, he was a gun. i mean, he made an unbeaten 200 against us. fair enough, st mary's wasn't exactly a great team, but still, to make 200 coming in at probably 4 or 5, must of been a gun

I think Stevo had a stint with the Canberra side at some stage.
Mark Brady left his mark on a light tower at East Belmont one day. The ball was up there for months. Rumour was that it was still on the way up.
I played in a game of fourths at North where the highway was cleared.

steve kelly hit one for us at guild once, cleared the trees on the full and landed on the roof on the other side of riversdale road (i think it's riversdale?)
that was a decent whack
