Debeer. Turned 21 during footy season. It is u/21 before 1st Sept. Debeer therefore misses out. Pityh, he would have been a good addition. He is a late bloomer and will turn out to be a good 1sts bat for many years to come. Very smooth.

A very bias opinion there Renny. He's terrible

yeah I thought young Andrew Ross from South might have got a look in here at least in the initial squad. If he was playing in a few other clubs he might already have a few games in the 1st XI. Left armed and fairly sharp I do believe he will be in this squad in the next few years or so. Only played the two one day games this season in the 2nd XI as he was unavailable last round. Will be very keen to see how he goes this week in the 2nd XI against Newtown. Would be hoping for a bag to back me up !! hehe, he is possibly a little inconsistent and down the leg at the moment.

Is he still eligible for the U18 Coca-Cola Cup? That might be a reason why he wasn't in the squad.
The majority of the team will be made up of 20+ year olds, with maybe one obvious exemption. Usually they don't like U18s playing in the U21 competition for some reason.
I personally think Debeer will be a good player for St Peter's, his only had a handful of first XI games and people are quick to jump on a young player's back when they don't make an immediate impact.
Sure there have been some freakish juniors around the region (Anderton, Harrison, Finch, Davies, Dean's, Nguyen, Condy) but usually it takes some time for young players to make their mark amongst the men.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

ok, world first. Live updates from South Barwon v Netown 1st at Reynolds Reserve. Swans sent into bat on a hard but green-ish looking deck. Both openers got off to a good start with Whittingham just falling to Scott "Heart" Mullen. South currently are 1-45 off 11. Blyth and Anthony "no hamstring injury" Ford are batting. Dev Royce has just started to bowl into the 12th over. More importantly Benny, yes, Benny the Jet is playing next door at Marshall. We have already heard one Woo Hoo from the Jet himself !! Further updates to follow.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Muzza was sending em down last night as well, with a new nut at about 6.45 with the clouds rolling in, telling us how he wants to bowl at someones throat!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

South Barwon 3-142 off 35. Fordy just out for 28. Hornet batting well but could have been run out just after Fordy went out after a mix up with Hester. Hester has had a few close chances but in between is hitting some good boundaries. Deck is doing a bit with Dev Royce being pretty hard to get away with the ball moving around quiet a bit.

I heard the Big Red Fire Engine rolled back into town at the weekend. Any truth?

May score a few in the 4ths that kid. How is the pom doing at Thommy?

yeah thats correct b.c he come in at 4 after the great grunter booley failed again at 3. got 10 i think in the big come back and also rolled the arm over. must have celebrated pretty hard that night as we had a bucks day leaving thomy at 9 sunday morning and he rocked up in the whites and wore them for the day.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

South Barwon have scooted along to be 4-234 off 51 overs. Hester made a quick fire 65 and the Hornet is well over 50. If the Swans keep batting the overs it could be a big total with the early swing and movement off the wicket slowing up a bit. And over from Marshall it appears Benny the Jet is not having things his own way with Marshall at one stage about 5-130 odd.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Mr Parker,
why would you be worried what is written on here about GWSC?? Would you be better off concentrating on what you can control at your club rather than rubbish that you cannot?
Clearly anything on here should not have any influence on the performance of your players and you should be embarassed that you have responded like this.
For the sake of the club please focus your attention to winning games of cricket.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

South Barwon 4-300 off 63 overs. Hornet could possibly take the South Barwon club record score in the 1st XI of 157. If he bats for another 10 overs he will take that.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

what's with st peters? twice in in 2 weeks, they bowl a team out for a measly total ( this week, corio for 82 ) and then slump to be all out for ************ all, or in this case 4/38, now on the back foot?
