lets just leave that at that. its good wests president has come on here and cleared it all up. so lets move on and start talking cricket. what about the T20 comp comin up. whos gonna perform/win. will the colac sides be any good??

Rumour on this side of town is that Guild are pretty confident of knocking off the South boys first up!! Interesting...dont get too cocky boys...Still gotta face 4 overs of Ando yet!!

Division 1 "Powerhouse" South Barwon are extremly cockey in not only winning the 20/20 competition, but also beating Division 3 "Rabble" Guild-St.Mary's.

Quotes from the South Barwon Coach
1) "I will retire if we loose to them"
2) "Hester bowls wrongen's, Blyth will pretend he is Matt Hayden, and Ando will raise his bat grip when he is going to hit sixes"

However after thinking about the comments and the "slim" chance the Powerhouse has of loosing he followed with this

3) "20/20 is a game of chance. All cricketers should be respected, except Justin Larkins"

A little change of tune, prehaps running scared

Drunk, hung over or stooned, Guilders have...

NOTHING TO LOOSE

As will I if They lose:D, Guild no hope

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I wasn't having a crack at him personally. Is it just me or do i already smell excuses of an horrendous first season in the BPCA for the Cheetahs???
If they're 5/20 on the weekend will they say ohhhh no, its Big Crickets fault, i dont think so?
My point is this forum means nothing, it is just a bit of fun with a lot of stirring the pot going on. Anyway lads please lighten up, once the cricket starts on the weekend, im sure this forum is the furtherest thing on anyones mind.
Bring on Anderton's first four overs too!!!

i haven't heard that rumour lads. and i'm at the club 3 to 4 nights a week?
we are confident of putting in a good contest yes, but we know that beating one of the best teams in the gca isn't going to be easy.
and yes we have to face 4 overs of ando, but they have to face 4 overs of leesy too.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

With this 20/20 i'm tipping South, margin pending the toss of the coin.

If South bat first they will win comfortably as i don't think Guild St Mary's have the nous to be able to handle the tight bowling of the swans and a run chase co-currently. If Guild bat first their free-flowing stroke makers might be able to conjour up a defendable target. We shouldn't under-estimate Guild's batting: Middleton, Twyford, Larkins and Cowedry can all find the boundary and they generally do it in quick fashion. 20/20 is suited to their type of batting. But i think the experience and class of the Division One swans will be able to chase down almost any score. South to take it to Guild St Mary's 4th and 5th bowlers. Kelly, McLaren and Twyford would be the target bowlers and could go the journey.

As for Anderton/Lees sometimes some pace onto the bat is a good thing for the batting team as the ball comes off faster. D & B Haunstein and Filthy Phil Hunt will keep it tight enough to keep Guild St Mary's score down.

So summing up it will be South's 3rd, 4th and 5th choice bowlers who will get them over the line.

In my opinion it won't be as one sided as people think it will be but time will tell i guess.

I think it could pose massive problems if they do.

i personally dont see the sense in it as most if not all VCA grounds have exemptions for water. if the GCA did it, bye bye turf cricket, BPCA will be the strongest its ever been. Miller, ando, harps with the howlin wind on hard wicket:eek::eek::eek:. Me retire very quickly

I hope this kid can handle the bat after making public the comments by the Hornet after he has drank a few cans after his side makes a few runs on the Saturday and being in great spirits. Especially when he is a guest at South Barwon celebrating with his brother who made a 100 in the 5ths on the weekend for the Swans. All these comments were made along with the festivities of the night, and I do not think they are worthy of making public. Of course Guild has got nothing to loose and South Barwon has a lot to loose. This sort of comment being taken out of the arena it was meant for will do nothing more than make sure that the Swans will be focussed on the game. And as for Justin Larkin he has been a pretty good hard hitting batsmen over the number of years and would be suited to a T20 game if things went his way.

well summed up rissole.
personally, as much as i love my club, i don't know if we'll have the depth to chase a big score. as rissole stated, south have some very handy stump to stump bowlers, in hornet and mr ipl himself.
also with ando sending down some thunderbolts early on, i don't know how middleton and twyford would take that, not facing someone that quick for quite some time.
not sure lees will trouble the south bats that much, as they face the likes of marsland, harper & co, so the pace won't be much out of the new. maybe just a bit surprising.

I don't see why you even need to defend what was said ipl, I mean who really cares if South are trying to take a enjoyable approach to the 20/20 game, people forget pretty quick that 5 year ago thats all it was at international level (remember Aust v NZ dressing up in old school kits and afros etc) Guild are a bunch of wanks:rolleyes: and I hope you bowl them out for 10.;)

Na mate, next wednesday at East Belmont it will be. Think we'll find out more about it over the weekend, it has been moved from Kardinia Park which is a bit dissapointing. We got quite a substantial shirt sponsorship from The Barwon Club which is greatly appreciated :)

I think it could pose massive problems if they do.

If it does not rain, and face it, it normally does not rain anyway. Then it should not make a difference. Will just mean that clubs don't have to check out the bureau website to see if rain is about. Not sure if it makes sense to not being able to cover the one wicket you are going to play on, maybe you just cannot cover your square. You might get the Geelong guys come back to play local cricket as they have the better decks !!
