Just tired of it all Joe; I mean I, probably like a few others was glad to see a forum set up that we could all contribute to constructively and it turns out to be nothing more than two clubs arguing with each other about mindless sh*t. Fair dinkum, go back over the 101 pages and see how much of this drivel has been plastered. It's diappointing to say the least.

what happened in the last game against torquay????

seems we might have to South guys here in a slanging match. I think the Torquay game was when South crumbled to loose on the first innings only for a fired up Anderton to run through the Torquay second innings and allow the Swans to back door them on the outright. I think without this win the Swans would of had a first final against Grovedale. Anyway there is a lot of chances to change a cricket match that unless it was the last ball of the innings and something happens it is hard to say anything lost you a game. From watching that game it may have been the early wickets on the 1st night and 2nd day that caused more issues. Don't think chasing down 1000 and not chasing down 120 is a reason why they lost.

doesnt anderton hold a gca record against city??? with the bat, shows what sharkbite knows.

Big Ando plays with more heart than all of the city blokes put together. He also is a 100 times better bloke than sharkbite.

spot on gcc101 just because these blokes can play doesnt mean any stable club would want them on board. there more of a disruption to your club.

they are perfect for st albans

keep crawling supersaint...we all know "Big Ando" will eventually end up at St Albans because that is where all GCA club rejects end up playing.

It would be great for conversation down there "so which GCA club do you come from"?

The majority of rejects down at your club have baggage from their GCA days- what a club!!!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I've been back over 100 pages - Just don't listen to it. Ignore it, and if you post, you will get some sensible debate. It's like sorting the wheat from the chaff so to speak.

Im not crawling at all. Im actually very good mates with Ando and have been for a long time. He is a player with huge ability and a top bloke to have a beer with. I hope they win the flag this year because it would be well deserved after last years terrible umpiring decision.
As for only gca rejects playing with us, would you call Jason Murray and Chris Jones gca rejects? dont think so. Also i have been playing at St Albans since i was ten and i am now 22. Have had the opportunity to play in the gca but i would never leave such a great club with so many great blokes.

Look there are tossers at City, probably tossers at St Albans and there have been tossers at the couple of clubs I have played with. Every club in the cricket world has tossers. I have played against Jason Murray a few times and all bar once he was like anyone else; the other time he went off because one of our blokes wound him up and it was just in the heat of the match. I had a beer with him after the game and he was fine. It's the blokes you can't have a beer with after the game that are the real worry. Anyway guys, let's just be constructive.

bangladesh_8 how can u say chris cruckshank is underated? the guy has played most of his cricket in the 2nds n has played 3-4 games in the ones and he still showed nothing. brett anderton is a good bowler and isnt overated. brad hauenstein is easily the best getting around.

best allrounder: gota say jason murray (st albans) not being bias he just is!

wat do people think the under 21s side will be this year? probably best to leave out the younger guys who often don't play due to schooling committments

For f*ck sake; here we go again. Can someone please advise how to set up a LEGITIMATE Geelong cricket thread so we can all transfer across and leave this stupid and childlike St Albans V City slanging match here on this one for the three or four blokes who actually care to keep throwing mud at each other. Christ sake you blokes; we've all had enough!!!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

With the promotion between division 1 and 2 it is based on a 4 year rolling average of the club assessment that is done each year by the GCA. The assessment includes an on field component which accounts for roughly 40% of the assessment. Any points that say a division 1 club gets in a previous season in div 2, they would only get 40% of the club championship points they got in div 2. This makes it hard for clubs that have just come up. The other points are made up of junior teams, administration, facilities, turf wicket facilities, number of teams, onfield reports, etc. If a club does what it is supposed to do off the field then all these points should be so simple to get, so basically for a club that is well run, the only difference between them and another club in their division should be club championship points. So on the 4 year average as at the end of this season, we have the following order:
  1. East Belmont
  2. St Joeys
  3. South Barwon
  4. Grovedale
  5. North Geelong
  6. Newtown
  7. Lara
  8. Geelong City
  9. Leopold
  10. Bell Post Hill
  11. Newcomb & District
  12. Geelong West
  13. Manifold
  14. Torquay

As you can see City were not in the equation of getting relegated this season as in previous years they had performed quiet well, so it does protect teams from having a bad year if they were solid in previous years. So if you take out the Manifold and Torquay from this year then West and Newcomb would be in the firing line if they keep up the same rolling average. Hmmm, interesting if West 1st XI have a big year but the rest of the club perform poorly then they may be in trouble. Dunno, but this should start a bit of a debate other than just City V St Albans:)

I can honestly say that I have never played for either Newtown or St Joeys, nor will I ever. St Joeys I have found are decent guys; only one tosser; Jason Stein; Newtown similar except for Ian Hastie. Possibly one of Geelong's finest. Hang on Tsitas did play at Newtown...
