Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

i just finished readen dazs report and it inspired to write an essay of my own. nar just kidding the tail end of our game didnt deserve an essay but here goes.

millard and hall opened the batting confident of putting some dent in to the total of 280 posted by grovedale the week before. boundaries were scored early, but just as harper strayed he got the wicket of millard which brought lymer to the crease. hall didnt last much longer than millard as he edged another to the keeper which took north to 2-35. armistead came on and made a quickfire 21 before throwing us wicket away by skying one off mcdonald, bringing alf clark to the crease. lymer didnt learn from armisteads mistake and did the same thing a few overs later, leaving north with not much batting to come. braden szponar put up a bit off resistance with alf before alf was bowled by gareth yelland for 33. braden hung about for a bit longer and hit tsitas for a huge six over mid wicket which we havent stopped hearing about, but that was one of few highlights for the day, north all out for 134 in the 56th over. tsitas and yelland both picked up three wickets.

votes 3. m. baker 2. t.mcdonald 3. g.harper

Who would buy them at $25 each.

Please reply if interested. enough numbers ill do it.:cool:

Good idea but maybe we could come up with something else for them to say that was a bit more relevant to our own backyard. Just 'Big Cricket' could mean anything to anyone. Thoughts guys? Maybe something more relevant to this thread?

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

It's often thought that a a decent 'club' first team pace bowler (opening or first change) will bowl on average about 120kph, so you might not be far off the mark.

pretty sure it is aberdeen/minerva. How many more weeks do they have the ground for ? I hear Barwon Water will not give them any more water allocation.

A couple of those blokes are already over 21. Turned 21 in the winter. How does that work?

Not sure on the cut off date, that was the squad as it was named.

There wasn't D.O.B.'s for Cambell, Davidson, Debeer, Fitzgerald, Herbison, Nguyen, Nolan, O'Donaghue or Strods.

I know most of the above are under 21 with the exceptions being Cambell, Debeer and O'Donaghue for whom i'm not sure.

Who were the players you were referring to Renny?

what clubs u been at, faced heaps quicker than that in geelong over the years from many bowlers. muzza quicker than that in his prime, harps, castle, unsworth, MILLER (F**K ME) he was smoke. peter quick, cammarotto in prime. Mark thomas before he became a copper. who is quickest around now in others opinion. i would not call 120 a decent opener though.

Debeer. Turned 21 during footy season. It is u/21 before 1st Sept. Debeer therefore misses out. Pityh, he would have been a good addition. He is a late bloomer and will turn out to be a good 1sts bat for many years to come. Very smooth.

You have already gained some respect back by your reaction to this tool. The cheetahs issue is dead and buried for me.

Harps did you ever get on a speed gun at Geelong or elsewhere?

I know Ando and Miller have both been on the gun before, i think from memory they were both around the 135km/ph mark, but that was a few years ago.

So i'm wondering what speed these blokes bowl at nowadays?

He was one of those blokes who we didn't have an D.O.B. for, he looks alot younger than 21 that's probably why his name got thrown in there.

Nah... never been tested. Would not want to now... it would just be depressing!

Would have been interesting to be tested, but you would want it to have been that day when the pitch was quick, and the rhythm was great. Have not had one of those days for a loooong time.

Its funny when you used to watch guys like the Waughs, Blewett, and other part timers, bowling little mediums around the 130 to 135 mark.

what about just "BIG CRICKET
GEELONG CHAPTER"

You know its getting tragic when blokes wanna start making up t-shirts devoted to an online cricket forum!!

Having said that, ill buy one if its got a picture of knowa on the front and a slogan relating to being one of Becko's groupies on the back....
and then we go on tour....

hehe, the other night he was letting them slip through pretty quick after Hornet decided to bat a few guys for an extended period of time ! Unlucky for the guys which were batting at the time though :) When he delivers one of his quicker balls he does generate some great pace and bounce. Let's hope for us he is nice and fresh to take on Newtown tomorrow. And see David Boyd is back in the 1st XI for the Swans, hopefully he will run into some form again like last season.
