Everyone is entitled to their opinion and i suppose he just never impressed me that's all. Symonds is the same; Australian cricket can do without him; he has demonstrated that he has no interest in playing for his country anymore. He would probably walk back into the one day side but we have moved past him in the Test side. He is another who has never had to do much to impress people. Awesome fieldsmen; not bad with the bat when he comes off one in every 10 times but only a very, very average bowler; 24 wkts in 26 Tests. An all-rounder is someone who can do all three disciplines equally as well; if Symonds is considered one then so too should Michael Clarke be. Sorry boys; just up for a gripe. The Aussie selectors are on the right path now anyway. Hopefully we have seen the last of Symonds and the unimpressive Brett Lee. Another who has been good but not great. Only taken 300 wickets because he has played so many Test and a best of only 5 for!! Like a batsman making 8,000 runs with a highest score of 110.

sorry renny, ur in a corner here. the great boof was a great player for aus.

Not if you had played 76 Tests. He also has never taken 10 wickets in a match. Now honestly. A best of 5 for and 0 10 wkt matches.

I dunno Renny. By my calculations, 8000 runs in 76 tests is averaging 105 runs per test. hahaha
I see ur point about Brett Lee though, he's past it now, but at his prime u'd pick him every time for pure strike power.

I think in test matches most times you bat twice, so while not 105 average, it would be over 50, which is not bad at all !!

Look, you're probably right, he has been a great servant for Australian cricket, has a clean cut image, presents well and is marketable. Have been pretty happy with him over the journey. Has always leaked a lot of runs though and what possibly will be his final stats of 310wkts @ 30 with BB of 5/30 and Best Match of 9/171 are quite unflattering for someone with such expoerience. Still rather have him than that novelty act Shaun Tait.

So are u feeling a big score coming on tomorrw Prez? U going 20/20 style, or batting for the average...or more importantly the win!!

well I am watching Phil Hughes at the moment and being a fellow left hander I like what I see, so I might try and emulate something pretty special !! Hmmm, only joking if I am still in when we get 33 runs I will be happy. I will let Hammy take a T20 style up to the attack especially considering my 0 off 11 in the recent MCG game !!

ahhh, so that was the shield which Scowny had sent to Ando of him and Ants standing behind looking pretty happy on Saturday night !! Good on them. Will be a big game now with Joey's coming up against East Belmont this week, most likely to be played at Grovedale. I think the finals will be Sth Barwon versus West at East Belmont, Grovedale versus Lara at South Barwon. All pretty exciting.

The photo sent back was one with Ando, Brew, and myself with the VB T20 cup we won the previous week at the G. Hopefully with 6 sides in the finals, we can add some more silverware to the trophy cabinet.:D

Re: Geelong Cricket Chat

Apparently rain on Wednesday prevents one from having a track ready at 1.15pm Saturday but not by 3.30pm, if AB1 has been quoted correctly in today's Addy. Bit of a worry that GCA has scheduled a Div 2 Firsts final there this week, 'cos there's this big black cloud that hovers over a 22-yard section of Spring Creek Reserve. Surprisingly no-one from AT was quoted in said Addy article, as they no doubt would be ropeable over missing out on finals due to a game that was always going to be a draw as of the middle of last week.

Re: Geelong Cricket Chat

I see Torquay conveniently couldn't get a wicket up:rolleyes: TR and Babies Arm will remember when they put a sticky up a few years back for the 2nd week, we were chasing about 160 after it was 30 all week.

I do recall that (Team of good blokes member) Kelly saying to our blokes stop sooking and just ****ing bat. We got rolled and you made them bat, after Kelly had been mouthing off all day all I remember was when it was his turn to face up, he was on square legs toes shitting his pants while your thunder bolts covered them in bruises (Prob one of the fastest spells I've seen). What were they 6-10 or something at the end and you took 5-5 or something stupid? And apparently there was nothing wrong with the wicket:rolleyes:
