Well he has played one ODer and off 8 overs he got 1/47. Not too bad but a little expensive. Got absolutely hammered when batting though because some of those pace bowlers are A Grade quality and the 14 year old isn't that big... had balls flying all round his head batting at number 8. I can bat at number 6 lately so I think I have him covered.

Well on the coast where I used to play we would have our 40 over a side games starting at 8.30 and finished at about 3, then our 2 day games went for two days and we'd get 80 to 90 overs in if there was no interruptions. We also had the occasional T20.

Now in the Gympie clubs we have a 40 over a side game starting at 12.30 and going to 6 with some sort of reduction of score formula if we don't get them through (stupid thing, I hate it) and the two day ones each side is limited to time for innings.

I don't like fitting games in small amounts of time. We sometimes make one 40 over game go from 8:30 till 4:30, the sunshine coast has plenty of fields and we almost always had a field to ourselves for the day so we made it a little more relaxed.

Most of them do, a couple are just sheds, but most are good buildings with places to sit, drink, watch TV, eat, drink, chat, drink and overall have a good time. Oh, and drink.

The one at Maroochydore is very fine quality, they spent about a million dollars on the ground as a whole just before the Australian team played there.

Re: Last person to post on this thread wins 7

Maroochydore they say its a very good ground. Have you played there yet?

Re: Last person to post on this thread wins 7

Yep I have played there three times. Twice in A grade and once again playing for a fun T20 night with all the Scorchers (the grade team (above a grade) that travels to Brisbane) and other young players they had for the night. Great ground, it really is.

Re: Last person to post on this thread wins 7

sounds like a good set up they have going there. As long as the beer is cold you cant really lose.

Re: Last person to post on this thread wins 7

We would never get that sort of set up where I'm playing now because they seem to refuse to let drunks have nice things.

Re: Last person to post on this thread wins 7

So this is what it's like from the other side of the glass...

What's the set-up for cricket in Queensland anyway Boris? Do they have a district cricket competition?

Re: Last person to post on this thread wins 7

Well I had been playing in the Sunshine Coast District, but because of distance issues I have had to move to the distric just inland, called Wide Bay.

Within Wide Bay there are two major town, Maryborough and Gympie, where they have two different club tournaments, and because of the size of the district they both send teams away to different districts. In Gympie here they have 5 or so clubs (I think) and they play C Grade, Reserve or B Grade and A Grade. Then from the A Grade clubs they pick players for the Gympie Gold, which is the major team for this district which then goes to the Sunshine Coast and plays in their district competition along with Maroochydore, Noosa/Tewantin, Hinterland, Nambour, Glasshouse and Coolum (my old club). From there the best players are picked for the team that I don't know what it's term is, but they are the Sunshine Coast Scorchers who play in the big Brisbane league. From there players are picked for the various assortment of State levels, like the U19s, Seconds and Thirds and the actual team itself. They also have up to U19s rep for this area as well.

The captain is about 50 with a huge gut and more facial hair than you could believe and cares only about beer.

Are you sure that's not the Wizz you're talking about?

No facial hair, but the captain sounds like a true leader making sure all the beer is cold and every 1 has to drink 15 before they go home.
