Re: mmvca

its getting a bit boring on this forum.....too much talk about individual players and their achievements....

lets get back to the cricket on field for this season.

if we play.........can St Andrews recover from 4/22 chasing 170,

can Pacco cause an upset and make 303,

along with Haig getting 290 and the Barkly St boys chasing down West Coburgs 304.

Can Glenroy defend 290 against the Socials and

will St MArys bounce back or Merlo get the chocolates...

lots of big totals and interesting matches.

My predictions.....winners ...St Andrews, St Francis , East Cob, West Cob, Glenroy and Mrelo

Conditions alwys differ from week to week when 2 day are games are split. Its a rub of the green thing, one week you may get a belter and the next a green top. It generally evens out.

Wet weather is different, it should be left in comp hands otherwise bad luck impacts too much.

What if we go to the ground, and all games get called off bar one, those teams have the chance for 6 points but the other teams get disadvanteged.

Its pretty simple, if the majority of gorunds are unplayable, then the round gets called off. Pretty simple i would have thought.

Also, lets be serious about the captains deciding. The team in front will want to play and the team behind wont, so what is the point going through it all when the comp can make an unbiased decision on what happens prior to play.

Not having a go, just dont think its practical.

If one game plays and the others dont then that is just the luck of the draw a bit like the wickets. What happens if a team gets a result in the first week and the others miss out then this gives them a opportunity to ge the 6 points.
Of course the captain from the team in fron will want to play and the opposite for the team behind but then this decision comes down to the umpire. Surely they can make this decision on whether the wicket is safe to play on.
If no decision can be made then no play will go ahead.

Leave the young fella alone.
All you blokes pot others from behind your computer and hiding you alias.
The young fella has at least come out and stated who he is and stated what he has achieved in his career. His must be very proud of his career to date and good luck to him. At least he is out there having a go and has probably acheived more in his short career than most others in there whole life time.
I have no idea who Fitzy is either as I am only new in this comp

So the umpires decision is not unbiased! The second week of the game should always have the best chance of going ahead. If the captains can't agree then the bloke who gets paid makes the decision. If the side in 'front' is chasing then they take a chance getting the runs. The side that's 'losing' surely has enough incentive with a little in the deck to have a crack???
In a test he conditions may vary from day to day surely the conditions aren't the same, Deano agree with you 100% but we need to try and play a second seek or at least turn up and see the conditions which confront you. As long as it is deemed safe it should be game on as along as both captains agree

Ok Don, lets get back to more interesting talk about the 'men' playing this weekend and you kids can get together and chat at your underage games. I think the only hurdle for tomorrow guys is rain during the day, at this stage the covers look like they will be down to beat the rain and today has been great for the decks. The sun is out a little wind, lovely dryong conditions. Hopefully the council have no excuses with not having all the grounds done by lunchtime today and it's all systems go. These little delays so far this year have done one thing and that's made an already close comp even closer!!

If i was captain (and for whatever reason did not want to play), and said the ground was unsafe, in this political correct world we live in with litigation and the like there is no way the game would go ahead on the umpires say so.

All i am saying is, let the comp make the decision before play to ensure its fair and makes it as fair as possible.

With reagrds to teams that win in the 1st week roo boy, good on them. If you can force a result in one day it proves your where the much better team on the day and has nothing to do with wet weather. If the 2nd week is washed out for everyone else then tough, teams who win in a day deserve an advantage.

Even though weather not bad today, the fact the council significantly watered our wicket and turned it to mud even after a couple of days rain means it might as well have rained today.

why would you water it significantly when its already wet and the weather forecast the way it is. A bit of a whinge on my half, but these wickets need all the help they can get to be playable.
