ok, something a little different - who are the best two umpires for season 07/08 that will be officiating in this years A Grade Grand Final?
Pat Campbell & Gary Houston
Just ahead of Alf, Steve Pollard & Alan Taylor

I would probably have to agree there, what are your thoughts Essendon 2000? :D
G'Day KOS, A mate from your old playing days here. I am still going around.
If you are not working on Saturday or Sunday why don't you come down and watch the 1st's against St. Andrews you will see some faces still playing that you know. It would be good to see you and catch up.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Harry
Darren
Gavin
Plugger
Scotty
Justin
Paul
Jason Moore
Ash Saad
Jamie (out of retirement)
F.O.S (fine leg to fine leg)

Not a bad Coburg Amateur side (might have missed a few)
Take out Harry & Jason Moore, add Jolley & Harvey and you have the St. Andrews 1st eleven.

Pat Campbell should never get a A Grade final since he has refused to pay LBW's all year on tracks that do not bounce

Here are some figures for you
GH 25 LBW's for the year
SP 25 LBW's for the year
AM 25 LBW's for the year
AT 16 LBW's for the year
PC 8 LBW's for the year

wow, thats um pretty interesting stats FirstSlipper! The numbers dont lie I guess. If those numbers are in fact correct you have a very valid point! Im for Al Taylor and Alfie Michleff myself both very very good umpires

Of course a St. Andrews player would want Alf to umpire.

Re: mmvca

Have to be Houston, he's No: 1 in the comp with out a doubt isn't he??????. Everyone would agree on that surely!!

Him and Pollard would be the tips for me. Taylor has had a good year as far as I know, haven't heard the usual rumblings after games he's umpired. Pat and Alf are good umpires too, gonna be hard to select the 2 A turfs umps this year.

To be honest haven't heard all that much about the Umpires this year -not from A Grade anway which is a great thing for the Comp that we have so many quality umpires.

Re: mmvca

Chippy is the best umpire by along way, then you have Pat Campbell and Alan Taylor who can battle out the second spot.

you have obviously got too much time on your hands mate, maybe you should spend some of it trying to get fit.

Al Taylor has his moments, but wouldn't count him out, 1 of the best on his day.

All the rest are very average.

Pollard has lost it wouldnt count on him being there

id agree with you on Houston there Hirdy he would have to be 1 of the 2 for the final as for Polly well he's gone a bit downhill i think had him few weeks ago and he couldnt even see from end to end properly.

so for mine A turf final would probably have to be Houston & Taylor with Alfy not far off the pace.

only my humble opinion & i may be wrong

Campbell would be up there but as previously stated by others not keen to give lbw's now as a batsmen this would be a good thing for myself but i think the umps need to be consistent on all levels of dissmissals.

of course in saying that Pat is consistent at not giving them (but i can bowl aswell haha)
