Have to be Houston, he's No: 1 in the comp with out a doubt isn't he??????. Everyone would agree on that surely!!

Him and Pollard would be the tips for me. Taylor has had a good year as far as I know, haven't heard the usual rumblings after games he's umpired. Pat and Alf are good umpires too, gonna be hard to select the 2 A turfs umps this year.

id agree with you on Houston there Hirdy he would have to be 1 of the 2 for the final as for Polly well he's gone a bit downhill i think had him few weeks ago and he couldnt even see from end to end properly.

so for mine A turf final would probably have to be Houston & Taylor with Alfy not far off the pace.

only my humble opinion & i may be wrong

Re: mmvca

ok, all the talk in here seems to be purely about A GRADE. Lets have a look at some of the other Grades cricket this weekend, in particular the other Turf Grades. Any tips on who will get through to the big one? Obviously St Francis and East Coburg are both right up there to play off in the B and C Grade Grand Finals, which is a credit to the perspective clubs. Little suprising St Francis couldn't push for a hight position in A Grade with such a strong showing from there other two turf sides.

Any tips of players we should be looking out for? Future stars of our Competition? Players who will rise in Finals?

Also worth noting St. Andrews 1 Day grade playing off for there 4th straight I believe Grand Final so best of luck to them and all other finalists this weekend!!!

Chippy is the best umpire by along way, then you have Pat Campbell and Alan Taylor who can battle out the second spot.

Campbell would be up there but as previously stated by others not keen to give lbw's now as a batsmen this would be a good thing for myself but i think the umps need to be consistent on all levels of dissmissals.

of course in saying that Pat is consistent at not giving them (but i can bowl aswell haha)

St. Andrews will win the flag easily by the way.

If they can get past the Socials id have to agree with you there but i dont think this week will be all that easy potentialy should be a cracker of a game

Lets be honest here anyone can win the flag St Andrews and East Coburg both showed on the weekend that they can with stand finals like pressure when they both played a very entertaining game of finals like quality and the socials and st mary's both had very convincing wins. That being said Go Socials and f*ck the rest

Re: mmvca

Well I reckon that this year could be the last year we know this comp as the MMVCA (merger gonna happen i reckon), and seeing that the The Socials won the first A Turf Premiership in the MMVCA, I think it would be fitting that they win the last Premiership in the MMVCA.

Bit biased I know, but I'm a sentimental kind of bloke.

Good luck Gents.

Once again knobjockey, your quick to slam anyone's opinion, but wont share your thoughts on the issue.

But I understand its hard to comment on the standard of umpiring when the lower grades dont get them. :)

nice call bomber. sometime's jealousy gets the better of those not fortunate to be playing in the top grade. Maybe knob jockey can start a forum topic of his own titled " finals suck coz we have to pay an extra $3 for game fee's coz they provide an umpire" or even " what do you mean I'm out LBW we haven't played that rule all season"

i am totally now convinced that yaknobjockey is a complete fool and tosser!

so on to more important matters..........

socials to just get over the line against St Andrews who are slumping at wrong time of the year.

St MArys to account for a spirited East Coburg.

Socials will win the flag and it has nothing to do with this being the last year of the comp Hirdy

Re: mmvca

Help me out here guys, but i must be looking at a different forecast, with this talk about rain. Fine 23 Saturday and Fine 26 Sunday.

Also, any thoughts on the venues for the semi finals. Why they continue to play A Turf finals at Morris, puzzles me. I just think its a crap venue and their are better ones to choose from. Agree with Maribyrnong being chosen.

I personally believe that this is the most open finals series we have had for a long time and therefore any one of those four teams are a chance.

Good luck to all Teams

the forcast i looked at says fine weather too.......oh well lets keep fingers crossed.

Yeah im with you Bomber, Morris has a good track, but no fence and crap facilities. I reckon Hosken, or Brearly or sunshines ground would be better.

where are the grand finals????

I will stick my neck out and have a crack at this.

A turf - St Marys - they look to be the form side with plenty of batting and bowling depth, look the winners.

B Turf - West Coburg - you would think with there A side missing out they would have been likely to strengthen the 2s for finals.

C Turf - St Francis - been strong all year have injected some experiance odf late, East Coburg may challange though, this will be close.

A non Turf - Flemington Colts - have dropped a couple in the back half of the season but expect them to fire up for finals plenty of experiance here, not to be taken lightly with Jenno's incesent yapping behind the stumps.

B non turf - Royal Park Reds - A lot of new blood down there in last couple of years, they have formed into a good combination and will be hard to beat.

C non Turf - Aberfeldie St Johns - good combination of youth and experiance, if Gourlay fires with the ball will be hard to beat.

No idea about the one day grades

My opinion for what its worth.

Abers will pump everyone in that Grade. They have been there abouts for the last few years, but always seem to find a way to lose in the semis. Only other challenge will come from Stratty Heights, but only if Dale May can make a double ton. RMIT could be a smokey, but have really struggled since Xmas.
