based on your arrogance i would say that you are "smoke" newton. You are the only one with a bit of c*nt in you at that club so hence the only one who would come one here and jaw off. Good performance by your boys but as for smoke I think you mite need to tone tha down a bit. No one in the mmvca at present is smoke. If you disagree then you cant bat. I am a guy who bats at 8 as well so hardly a credentialled batter. You and wernham got majority of your wickets from poor sroke play by socials. Jolley was the key to your win

Sour grapes and inaccurate comments mean nothing.
You guys had a sensational year and should be proud of where you finished,my boys(5) all play the game hard and to win and to think he would write this is a joke.

I have to agree with Road Dog here. There aren't really any bowlers around at the moment that are going to have you jumping around too much or making it very unpleasant to bat. Vik Chand and "Snowy" Redgwell were probaly the last two bowlers from our comp and for our standard, that had a bit and could really make you hurry your shots.

Don't worry about them 'F.O.S'......

I just reported the facts as I was told them.

The fact that Milky saw further into it is a joke. Smoke is a ripping bloke and cricketer to boot.

A chip off the old block?

sour grapes not at all you guys where significantly better on the weekend and deserve to win. I was just purely commenting on the fact that the boys is not smoke he did bowl a lot of good balls on the weekend but the majority of his wickets where from bad shots as opposed to great deliveries. Now given the fact I am pretty sure you are his father I can understand why this would upset you but I have seen him play the last few weeks and he does come across disrespectful as he has made gestures to easts and socials the last few games when wickets have been taken but he is young and will grow out of it hopefully

Fast(he never named himself smoke) bowlers are all mad and our three opening bowlers have had great years,a lot of batsmen must have played bad shots.(90 wickets at 14 between them)
All is good and you have a good foundation to build on next year and best wishes for the future.
Time to concentrate on next week, looks like it will be a great final, buy you a beer if your around.

Just using those two as examples since they left our comp only a few years ago. I've heard a lot of stories from Merlo players over the years on how quick Blacky was and how he was able to sustain that for well over a decade. I really only faced Blacky at the end of his A Grade career, so I didn't get to face him at his quickest. Which I'm quite happy about.

I agree too. Any one who thinks there is any real quicks in this comp are kidding themselves. Wardy, Pittsy are definately sharp and are quality bowlers, but not quick. Smoke obviously can bowl but again not quick. There are a lot of very crafty bowlers though. Scotty whernam for example. Thats the beauty of turf though. Put the ball in the right areas and you'll get the job done. Was unfortunate enough to face Vic on mats. That was quick.

He is a quality bowler and is definately sharp but is not super quick. He bowls fairly full to swing the ball. This makes it a little easier. Very good bowler though i agree.

Grand Final is at Reaburn reserve, as far as i know. ( 99% sure of it ). for you who dont know, its Pascoe Vales ground. I think its Landells road?

Hope to see all you posters down there on Saturday, no doubt giving it to a few of us regular posters.@|

Re: mmvca

Enough talk of the past. Who is going to win the GF?

I have done a backflip. Thought that if St Andrews won they would account for St Marys.

After seeing bits of both games St Marys are the team to beat. Havent lost a game in an age and have a well balanced attack. New recruits firing!!!

All bats are firing and some St Andrews players dont play spin well. Getting the spinners on early will do the trick.

Finally convinced about St Marys.

St Andrew TOO OLD, TOO SLOW, good effort though to limp to final but socials where ordinary. 4 days a real test

Veridict-St Marys outright win with a day to spare

Re: mmvca

Too old and too slow might be some thinking but I can assure you the saint andrews boys are up for this one. Some might say old, others might say that experience goes a long way in finals. most have been there before and the team have the utmost trust in each other. its goin to be a cracking final with many momentum swings. but watch for some of st andrews younger players who might just sneak up on st marys if they concerntrate on the classy vetrans.

MMVCA By the sounds of all the people on here besides deano St Marys is wasting it time turning up because the grand final has already been won by St Andrews. is that true

Josh is a great bat, a great young talent. Chris David could be a big player too.

Scotty, can destroy with ball and bat. The Tappner boys are experienced finals players, along with Tails and Jolly of course.

Should be a cracking game no doubt.

Well I'm sticking with a St.Mary final win.

They have been top all season for a reason, plus I like them more than the opposition... haha
