Well what a victory. King Kong is a legend. I understand why darren won mom because he put in a terrific whole hearted preformance but g. tapner was terrific. Scotty with 9 wickets awesome and plugga showed absoulute resolve under pressure in both innings. To my old mate fridge u r a gun! Lucky dave didnt tire u out with the ball and saved u up for the match winning knock. To deano i have been getting mixed messages I though you were a st marys man. Anyway why would I listen to a bloke who thought st andrews were too slow and too old. Shane Watson is a gun! Anyway guys it has been a pleasure playing with the st andrews boys and against everyone else. I also love all the light hearted talk on this site. I look forward to reading what is happening next year from the beautiful sunshine state.
lol josh
ps Well done St Mary's on a terrific season and awesome gf.

I think that everyone in the Grand Final should be commended on their fighting spirits for the whole four days. There were so many twists and turns, I think I aged ten years. Congrats to the boys who won back to back and also to the new guys on their first with St. Andrews. To St. Marys, you guys showed the whole comp that you are no pushovers and played the game of your lives well done on the season and good luck next year. To the St. Andrews boys drink up and enjoy because we will be the hunted again next season.

i think Dave made a couple of errors though with the end result he can say bad luck we won, i think selection would have been difficult with guys like George Salerno (who made lots of runs in B grade this year) and Ryan Doidge (who has been there before) both in the mix. groves would have been the man on the block escpecially given he only bowled a couple of overs in the semi's, but he has made people eat their words at the end of the game keeping out Harris and Co. to gain victory.

No worries Kong. Always good to catch up with mates over a couple of beers.

While we are dissapointed to lose the GF the way we did, we are absolutely wrapped in the way we played this season, especially after getting smashed by Jolleys boys in Rnd 4. Since that game, we were unbeaten until the weekend, which just goes to show, that with a little self belief, anything can happen if your head is right.

I wouldnt take back anything that has happened from this season ( apart from the weekend ), and im sure all of our guys would say the same thing. The way our boys handled themselves this year was 1st class. With a little bit more luck, we couldve been the premiers, but we have now built ourselves a platform for next season.

To my old Coburg Amateur mates, all i can say is congrats for the last 2 seasons, you have deserved to be back to back premiers. I can only imagine about the what ifs, if we were still playing down by the creek, and the side we couldve had. That includes ppl like FOS, Joanne Tapner, Micheal Eccles, who were the backbone of that club for so long, and never got the credit they should have.

To our guys, we start again next season, but with a huge belief that we are GOOD ENOUGH to mix it with the best in the comp, and to take that next step next season.

And to my brother who is retiring, i hope you change your mind, but if not, you can hold your head high and know that the Marys boys did everything we could to send you out a winner.

p.s. sorry guys if it sounds a bit soppy.:)

Totally agree with your comments in relation to you guys,i heard most of the year, how can they be on top etc etc etc
I know you may think it is easy making these comments when you win,but the character the guys from both sides showed when in trouble(and there was plenty on both sides) shows that both on and off the field we are doing something right.
To Pup and Paul, make sure you dont lose your enthusiam and as you get older, there will surely be "pups" that get under your skins.
I heard many comments about losing 10 years because the games was so tight, thats ok for you young guys but i dont have 10 years to spare lol

People say good luck for the future,i say play to your potential(as you did) and the rest will take care of itself.

Thanks for a close and sensational Grand Final

Hello Everyone!

Just a little observation about the Grand Final Last Week. Especially the young fellow they call Pup.m You should have a reminder tattooed on your head stating " I will never give the finger or anything else of the likes to the opposition crowd as it may come back to bite me on the arse". Because Puppy my little grasshopper it looks like you aint sitting down for a whole year as you being a smart arse to the crowd did actually backfire as we are now laughing at you. So maybe over the off season you can wallow in your self pity on how cocky you were and still lost the game. Enjoy the loss champion.

I cant believe you can have a crack at pup for wearing his heart on his sleeve since you were there watching the grand final as a SPECTATOR. Being involved in the game, i thought the blokes who showed the most passion about their clubs and the game were the youngest member of each side, and to be fair to pup, it is no good mouthing off after you win or lose the game- like you have if you are going to do it, do it while the game is still in play. But after your comment today you seem to be a guy that will have a bet on the race after it has been run and won Smarten up pal

It still isnt working, must have been the euphoria of watching the orange roughie pad his way to an unlikely 7 runs and deprive St marys of probably a deserved vicotry.

Lets be honest, St andrews snatched it, how valuable was that 10 up the order. But boy it would feel good

Huss i have a question. Did you watch cartoons as a portly kid??

On the A Grade Final....

The underuse of J.Grant bewilders me. Hunters continual use of himself as a bowling option whilst not using Grant was pure self indulgence, fair enough he was economical with his bowling, though the all important wickets column for Sunday was empty for Hunter. This can also be said for the overuse of J.Cash as well; Cash was notably tired during a long spell in hot weather and was still being bowled. To have a team 7-70 and on the ropes and not to have used a strike bowler such as Grant until just before the tea break would have St. Andrews relatively happy, especially when Grant came on and got two edges into the slips that were dropped off his bowling. On the batting side of things, Grant was at number 11 in the 1st innings. Just for the record, Grant won the St.Mary’s batting average 3 seasons ago. Also... In the form he is in, K. Craddock deserves a rise up the order this weekend.

Why does Hunter continually bat and bowl his mates in front of other players? Is it a boys club down at St.Mary’s?

Over and Out.

Self indulgence?? Were you even at the game??

Did you actually see the bowling figures for that weekend?

WHY would Tuffer's take himself off, and tire his fast bowlers in that heat when the new ball was within 10 overs???

And just for the record - Hunter NEVER applied for the position of captain coach, the club asked him. You obviously believe you know it all and were the better person for the job, so why didn't you apply instead????

The simple answer is you're gutless. You couldn't even ask YOUR coach about why Grant wasn't being bowled, you had to post that rubbish on a public forum instead.
