Already the rumours are circling about certain players' discontent with Jolley and whether they'll stay at Cole Reserve if he is still captain/coach next season. You'd have to say with the three-peat up for grabs he would be a certainty to stay on. And with the possibility of a couple of retirements/moves interstate, the St.Andrews purse will be well and truly open and splashed around. Which means they'll be an obvious contender again. One wonders whether they can survive in the years to come with a lack of youngsters coming through and only 1 junior team running around (I think). Heck, they might even need a few more Newtons!!!!!:D:D

I heard the opposite. If Jolley left for the greener pastures of retirement some others may pull up stumps, not leaving if he stays on. where do you come up with this stuff????

Anyway your synopsis throughout the game was great and obviously you know a bit about the league.

Kong can play for another 5 years. No need for juniors. Gotta love the kong

To all of you that are licking kingkongs arse get off him.That goes for you to banno36. I know he's a gun but St Andrews are not a one man team. That showed on the last day of the grand final. There was another player called Shaun Wernham that showed alot of heart and determination to steer the Saints back 2 back. I think he goes alright. @|

Kong I think you could be playing when your young bloke comes through the ranks. 5 years, you will do it easily. Become a specialist batsmen who fields in slip. Our number 3 gets away with doing nothing and you have more talent in your little finger, so you should be fine.
Banno, I don't know where this talk of unrest with D. Jolley comes from. I have only been here for the one year but I can assure you that all the st sndrews boys love having Dave around and know he will always be there by your side with the other 10 blokes, when things get tough. It was a pleasure to play in a side captained by him and the whole team loves it when the opposition focuses on him and lets the other boys do their jobs. And I can guarntee that he loves being the focus of the opposition, he lives for the contest.
I can see st andrews being a top team for a long time yet. Blokes like Scotty are only 25 and have years left in them. Also once you step into the club you will be a st for life it is just a great place to be.
Also I agree with the praise of plugger, without plug we would not have won the gf. Well done mate, your team mates recognised what you did, if other people didnt, they don't know much about the game.

ps, If you read this site jim, you know I love you, it is a regret of mine that we didnt share a big partnership. If only a lack of talent and obesity didn't hold us back.

Success breeds Success and St Andrews has in my time had Success both on and off the field.
Too fool yourself and others with comments regarding coaches ,players etc is only making the resolve of St Andrews stronger.
There was only one person who counts that was not happy with the coach and he is writing this reply,got the flick last year as 12th man and took Fridge under my wing and he has a flag this year. I was certain i was a big chance this year to be only dissapointed again.
My contract next year(on big dollars)will need to be reviewed and if the big dollars are not there i will be looking elsewhere. i am not happy only winning the meat tray twice and third in the tipping.

So to all detractors and sceptics,ST Andrews is the place to be and we will only hope that comments of arrogance ,big dollars etc keep coming as it only shows that as a club we are certainly doing it right.

You are right on most counts i would say.

Kong is a gun and should play forever. Although fielding in slip is not as easy as it looks.

Dave is not a bad bloke either. In store for a BIG YEAR 08/09

However, a bit harsh on Lucas Groves who is the nominal number 3 and won the game for St Andrews. Show some RESPECT.

Plugger is a gun and the new Gilly of the comp. Such poise under pressure and inspirational acts lifted the team. He is a star and should be coming on first change as well.

Jim is a ratbag/prick (to those that dont know him and even those that do!) but would not say obesse, rather is big boned and suffers from a glandular problem.

Tough times dont last, but tough people do! See you on th Gold Coast, i am bringing my boogie board. Surfs Up!!!!

Sorry Deano I think that you misinterpreted what I was saying about Jim and myself. I wasn't refering to Jim when I said obesity. I was refering to myself. I was refering to Jim when I mentioned the lack of talent. :)

He has no telent to last that long at the crease and be apart of a big partnership with u and plus u need a bat to hit the ball and the games i watched jim in he did not use his bat once he always padded up and got out lbw. I knew the offers would come in fast and furious for F.O.S when he put himself on the market.

St Andrews will need to put in a counter offer on Friday otherwise the much talented F.O.S will not put up with being discarded again.

Sorry won't be good enough as i have chilled the H20 to perfection for two years and deserve better from the man that everyone hates.(you know who you are)
