New club Coaches/Captains/Players for 2009/10

Casey Lang a good pick up for Thomson Riss. When he was at South Barwon a couple of seasons ago, he was quite sharp. He will be amongst the quickest in Div 2 if he has maintained his pace. You blokes certainly doing the right things again to mount a challenge for Div 1. Lost anyone?

Yeah we are really happy with the acquisition, I've never seen him play but have heard good things and he should be a steady contributor each week.

Haven't lost anyone of note, one of the blokes in the 2's is apparantly heading to Highton or possibly elsewhere to get more exposure to 1st XI cricket and another junior may possibly be giving Geelong CC a crack.

We will however be losing the 3 overseas players we had last season and we aren't sure wether we are getting one this season.

Still talking to plenty of blokes and trying to bolster the club with players.

Signed the other night

Re: New club Coaches/Captains/Players for 2009/10

Thomson: Adrian Saltalamacchia to coach, Jason Harrison & Sean O'Neill to assist.

Side note: don't think D.Boyd has signed anywhere at this stage.

Re: New club Coaches/Captains/Players for 2009/10

So at this stage most clubs have a coach for the new season, but to my knowledge these are the ones who haven't yet signed someone.

Corio:

Grovedale:
Highton:
Lethbridge:

Shane didn't "sign" on as such but I do believe he will accompany Jason in the move, clearances pending of course.

well if that is the case then I am not sure what is going to happen to Newcomb. I assume Skinny would be going to watch his son's play and he had a fair bit to do with the running of Newcomb, so if they left the club would be in a bit of trouble. As for D Boyd enough of the discussion of him, I believe he is going to St Peter's. Good luck to him.

Re: New club Coaches/Captains/Players for 2009/10

hi guys,

just let me clear it up for u. shane and jason harrison both signed to play at thomson wensday night. we have wanted to return to the club at some stage to finish were we started, and play together again in the same team which was not going to happen at newcomb. we had a great time there and it is a fantastic club with some fantastic people in it, but felt the time was right for us, and ndcc to move in another direction. so looking forward to putting the beehive on again soon back at godfrey st oval.

Unfortunately may be the last straw for Newcomb.

I'm sure Newcomb will survive
, Skinny has been brilliant at the Dino's for so long, He has put his heart and soul into the club and as a groundsman. the wicket is his baby so I'm not totally convinced that he would walk away from that completely.which will give him plenty of time to watch his boys play game day - he is life member at both clubs.
But there are other people at the club as well that have put in a lot of personal effort as at all clubs. Spudda, will be sadly missed, a great player, a great bloke and Haz, well he hasn't played for a couple of years, but still a quality player when on song. Contrary to what a lot of people believe the Harrison's didn't run the club, They are just great club people who are respected and who wear the hearts on their sleeves.

Well said. they have been brilliant for the club and only deserve what they have given. That is that they gave everything to the club and have been there for years. It hasn't been the same at NDCC for a couple of years especially when they didn't play as you expect to walk out against them when you play Newcomb. Good luck to both of them hope they do well at the old green and gold. Might be what they both need to get that passion back in cricket as we all know you need a fresh approach sometimes.

Re: New club Coaches/Captains/Players for 2009/10

Will be interesting to see how this clearance issues goes at NDCC so far we have.

D.Koliba
C.Ford
K.Ford
J.Harrison
S.Harrison
N.Clarke
C.Hester
R.Mills

all either moving on or having the season off.

I doubt Ando will stay with his cousins gone so he'd be almost certain to want to go to BPH now.

I know there is a few lower grade players wanting to come to play with St Albans this season.

I think Newcomb may have to just look at recruiting an outside coach and start fresh and build up again like they once did through Skinny and others years ago.

Good luck to Spud and H. I wish they and Ando came back to Thomson when I was there 5 or 6 years ago but ahh well they're back now

SBW: Where are Hester & Clarke going? Assume if Anderson goes to BPH, he won't be 'keeping as Hassett is capt/coach?

I believe Clarke is going to sign up with Barwon Valley Golf Club, but this has not come straight from him.
