New Zealand in Australia

Re: New Zealand in Australia

6 for 92 now, this is a joke. NZ need to find someone that can bat and quick.

Re: New Zealand in Australia

NZ have slipped to 6/92. Brett Lee took four wickets in the morning session. He removed Aaron Redmond with the second ball of the day, caught at point by Michael Clarke. Jesse Ryder followed almost six overs later and then Ross Taylor hit Lee a return catch to Lee after toiling for one run from 20 balls. And finally, Jamie How was caught by a superb catch by Ricky Ponting, diving to his right to take a sharp, one-handed catch.

Mitch Johnson took the wicket of Daniel Flynn, LBW for nine and just took the wicket of Peter Fulton who was bowled for seven.

A pretty bad capitulation by the Kiwis, certainly not the path they were looking for after such a good start late yesterday. Only a matter of time before this game is over, NZ still trailing by 173 runs.

Re: New Zealand in Australia

Vettori gets a regulation edge to first slip off Hauritz and Hayden makes no mistake.

7/105, McCullum on five not out. Southee is in now and he'll be the last of the resistance.

Congratulations to Brad Haddin. A fantastic knock from him. @|

I do think we'll have to bat again. I'm expecting to be chasing around 100-150.
Nice theory- but you forgot to take into consideration the Kiwi's inadequacy! ;)

If we have to chase 150, then Brendon Mac is a genius! :D

Re: New Zealand in Australia

Another for Hauritz. Round the wicket and pitches it outside off, it turns back in and induces an edge from Southee which goes to Ponting at second slip.

8/131, McCullum on 20 with only O'Brien and Chris Martin for company.

Re: New Zealand in Australia

Game over with McCullum stranded on 84.

Chris Martin has to be the worst batsman of all time. I can't beleive someone can make it to Test level and be that bad.

Re: New Zealand in Australia

He's pretty bad isn't he? That's his 6th test pair, the most of any player that has played test cricket. His average drops to 2.17 now after another duck.

NZ all out for 203, so Australia win by an innings and 62 runs. Presentations shouldn't be too far away although Channel 9 decided to not wait around for them. |@

Re: New Zealand in Australia

Brad Haddin is Man of the Match for his innings of 169. He also took three catches in the first innings. Michael Clarke is Man of the Series. Clarke scored 217 runs at an average of 72.33, he's in some good form of late. Unlucky not to get a century in Brisbane.

So, Australia retain the Trans-Tasman trohpy, beating the Kiwis 2-0 in the series. Australia have about two and a half weeks off before playing South Africa in the first of three tests with the first match beginning on December 17 at the WACA Ground in Perth. Some of the Australian players may be involved in some domestic games between then. New Zealand head home to host West Indies which promises to be an even match-up. New Zealand's two losses to Australia sees them slip to 8th in the test rankings while West Indies move up to 7th as a result of New Zealand's demise. The Kiwis will be looking for a much improved performance, particularly from their batting line-up which looks very fragile.

They said something about him having an eye problem which contributes to his poor batting ability.

Re: New Zealand in Australia

Yeah it was a clinical display, but we all know New Zealand didn't help their cause with insipid batting.

The South Africans will prove to be a much harder test, doubtful we can win the series. Im predicting a drawn series. 1-1.

Congrats to Dutchy Holland on his selection. This kid will be big, just feel it.
