Umar Akmal is quality, just because he hasn't fired in the first two games doesn't mean he should be dropped. He was their best bat in the Test series, playing with a limited-overs style.

Yes, he has played very well in his limited career so far. Along with his brother, I like him.

Re: Pakistan in Australia

The current attack is a very good one

You have McKay who puts it on a good length most of the time and will always take wickets, 9 wickets in 4 matches is a good return, 6 already this series. Siddle was back to his menacing self tonight bowling at around 150 ks and Bollinger is the fiery left hander whilst you have the ****er in Watson to take over Lee's showpony role and Hauritz is probably the main problem as his one day bowling has dropped off now his test has improved, has to learn to keep them seperate

Sure they bowled a bit short at times in Brisbane, it often happens with inexperienced bowlers when they see a fast track, but tonight they pitched it up and were unplayable

Its time to give up on the old blokes who will probably be in a retirement home within 12 months and look to the future and the future is bowling well. They are inexperienced yet still winning games and I'm not sure that Johnson will improve the attack at all, they should extend his rest untill New Zealand ;)

Re: Pakistan in Australia

Johnson back in for McKay next game, McKay has been alright but his been a bit short IMO, if he pitched it up more he woudl be much more of a threat.

Re: Pakistan in Australia

You're right, the series leading wicket taker is no threat ;)

I would expect Siddle or Bollinger to make way for Johnson but I dont think he is coming back yet, they havent even named a squad yet so will probably go unchanged with Johnson returning when they get to Perth on the weekend for the 2 games there

Re: Pakistan in Australia

For once Eddie, you got me. I thought Johnson was only out for two games.

You have never told me where your support lies when England plays Australia and Australia has Victorians playing?

Any answers.

Re: Pakistan in Australia

We will see how long this attack lasts. The Pakistani's sure did their part to help them look good last night as well.

McKay has never looked to trouble batsmen. He has gotten his wickets so far from balls which the batsmen have middled, all except a couple of genuine edges behind. Last night he was lucky to get the captain (whose name always escapes me) after he almost put away a bad ball, but unfortunately straight at a fielder at catchable height, then early his other wicket was due fully to the magnificence of Ponting in the field.

Then it took ages before they got the last three wickets. If you had someone like Lee in the team, Ponting puts him on and three yorkers later they are gone. That is another thing, I can't recall a single yorker, even last night they were back of a length. Plus their pitchmaps are everywhere, Siddle and McKay's pitchmap makes Johnson look like McGrath.

I see Johnson coming back into the side either for McKay or Siddle, either or I don't care, and along with that bring batting on it's way back to the standard it used to be with an actual tailender that can do some damage, something I think is also a requirement in one day games.

Re: Pakistan vs Australia Match Preview 3rd ODI Adelaide 2010

Mate, we normally just talk about each match involving Pakistan in the Australia V Pakistan threat in the international board.

We don't have a match by match thread as it is.

God I wish that Ian Healy would shut up.

Oh and welcome to the site aliviataylor.

Re: Pakistan vs Australia Match Preview 3rd ODI Adelaide 2010

Bloody ordinary effort from Pakistan in the field, not that's really a surprise..

Re: Pakistan vs Australia Match Preview 3rd ODI Adelaide 2010

Nice innings from M.Hussey 49 off just 28 balls.

edit Clarke gone for 80 off 90, should probably be a big enough score, Gul on a hattrick.

Re: Pakistan in Australia

Asoka de-Silva should be sacked immediately for those two LBW decisions. The difference between de-Silva and Taufel is all too obvious.

Re: Pakistan in Australia

They keep going on about bringing in the referrals but they will take too long in the shorter formats especially with the very close calls.

Re: Pakistan in Australia

Nah, I prefer watching Clint rip apart the Pakistan team :D

Going to be hard to beat for leading wicket taker
